Abstract

This paper aims to describe the mathematical literacy skills of students of SMAN 1 Takengon after being given learning using the MURDER method (Mood, Understand, Recall, Digest, Expand, Review). Mathematical literacy skills are seen according to the assessment framework according to PISA, namely 1) Communicating, 2) Mathematising, 3) Representation, 4) Reasoning and Argument, 5) Devising Strategies for Solving Problems, 6) Using Symbolic, Formal and Technical Language and Operation and 7) Using Mathematics Tools. This research is quantitative research involving 70 students of class XII of SMAN 1 Takengon. Based on the results of the analysis and processing of data obtained, namely th = 1.71 and t (1-α), = 1.67. This shows that the research hypothesis is accepted where students' mathematical literacy skills taught using the MURDER method are better than students' mathematical literacy skills taught with conventional learning models. The mathematical literacy skills of students in the experimental class are high with the number of students 20 people with a percentage of 57.14%. While the mathematics literacy skills of the control class students are classified as moderate with the number of students 17 people with a percentage of 48.57%. In the experimental class, there were 8 students or 22.86% in the very high category, superior to the control class, namely 5 students with a percentage of 14.29%.

Abstract

This research is an explorative study using qualitative approach that aims to describe the ability of students in solving geometry problems in terms of differences in mathematical skills. Students' problem-solving capabilities were reviewed based on Polya's troubleshooting techniques, namely: understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back to review the results obtained. The subjects of the study are three students from Department of Primary School Teacher Education (PGMI) of Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. The research process begins by giving a mathematics competency test to the student from a class unit, followed by selecting one student from each group, respectively from high math skills, medium math skills, and low math skills. These three selected subjects were assigned geometry-solving tasks and task-based interviews. The validity of data were checked using time triangulation. The results showed that the subject of high mathematical skill was able to use all 4 steps to solve the problem and provide correct answer. The subject of medium mathematical skill was capable of using the 4 steps of Polya's technique but also was less accurate in giving answers. Subjects of low math skill are able to use only 3 steps but are not correct in giving answers.

Abstract

This study aimed to know the components of the student creativity in problem solving that can be achieved through Model Eliciting Activities in preservice’s teacher of mathematics education of PTKIN in Aceh. This Research used qualitatif approach, since in this study want to describe the reality on the field namely data about the studets’ creativity in solving maths problem. The result showed that the componentsof flexibility obtained by contruction principle, the reality principle, and the self-just my assesment principle. Even so, there are student who got no flexibility with the third principle of the MEA, but only with the principles, the only reality MEA principle and the effective prototype principle. Mean while, the component of fluency is gained student by analysis of the construct documentation principle. The last component of creativity that is obtained through the construct shareability and reusability and the effective prototype principle. However there are students who do not obtain theses components due to the absence of new student-generated in carrying out problem-solving.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the influence of cooperative model type TPS toward the mathematics achievement grade 8-students of MTs Budi Agung, Medan. The true experimental design with the comparison group was used in this study. The population is grade 8-students in academic year 2013/2014 with the total of 90 students while the sample is the students of classroom VIII-1 as the experimental group and the students of classroom VIII-2 as the control group. The data were collected by using test and were analyzed by using t-test. The results showed that the average score of students’ achievements of the experimental group is 8.87 and of the control group is 7.5. It conclude that there is a significant influence of cooperative model type TPS toward the mathematics achievement of grade 8-students of MTs Budi Agung, Medan

Abstract

Learning is an attempt to compare what behaviors might occur before individuals are placed in learning situations and what behaviors can be demonstrated after being given treatment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the learning variables according to teroi reigeluth which were divided into 3 things, namely (1) learning conditions, (2) learning methods and (3) learning outcomes. Subjects in this study were students of Mathematics Education Study Program FTIK IAIN Langsa in semester IV unit 1 who took courses in calculus and probability theory. By using descriptive analysis the results and research findings obtained in the form of learning conditions (learning objectives and characters, learner characters, and constraints in learning) for both courses namely calculus and opportunity theory give different results. Fundamental differences related to the two materials provide a finding that students are lacking in reasoning and sharpening their thinking power both through reading and discussing mathematical problems so that they are often wrong in interpreting story problems on occasion. Learning outcomes for both courses are in very good categories for calculus and good for probability theory.

Abstract

This research is qualitative research with descriptive analysis. The research was gives an overview of the errors made when solving integer basic operations problems. Subjects consisted of 30 people who were participants in the Substantive Technical Training of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Mathematics Teachers  of the Aceh Province in the Balai Diklat Keagamaan Aceh (BDK) in 2018. Data was collected through tests and analyzed to determine the mistakes made by participants in solving problems. Data validation is done by triangulating data sources by comparing test results and interview data on the same subject. The results of the analysis showed that 13 participants (39%) from all subjects still made mistakes in solving problems. The type of error made is a procedure error, namely a sequence of steps in completing a count operation.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the increase in the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who were taught with better Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) models than students who were taught with convensional model on the material of flat side space in MTsS Dama Puteh. The CUPs models has three stages including: individual, triplets, and class discussions. The author uses an experimental research design with a quasi-experimental design. Sampling was done using population random sampling. In this study all students of class VIII MTsS Dama Puteh. In this study consisted of two classes, namely class VIIIB as an experimental class and class VIIIA as a control class. Data collection using the ability test mathematical concept understanding of the results showed that based one the t-test obtained tcount = 1,8 and ttable = 1,68. Because tcount > ttable so that it can be concluded that the increased ability of understanding mathematical concepts of students taught with more CUPs models better than students who were taught with convensional models on the material to build flat side spaces in MTsS Dama Puteh.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the students' synthesis ability in learning mathematics through the AIR (Auditory, Intellectually, Repetition) learning model in SMA Negeri 3 Kejuruan Muda. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method. The population in this study were all students of class X MIA. Using a simple random sampling technique, class X MIA 1 was selected as a sample. Data collection techniques using test and interview instruments. Data analysis techniques using percentages. The results showed that the average value of the pretest was 33.16, and the average value of the percentage of students' synthesis abilities was 10.67%. While the average posttest score was 60.16, and the average value of the percentage of students' synthesis abilities was 61.33%. So it can be concluded that the synthesis ability of students in class X MIA 1 of SMA Negeri 3 Vocational Youth before using the AIR learning model is in the low category but after using the AIR learning model there is an increase.
