Abstract

Industrial effluent loaded with heavy metals are a cause of hazard to human and other forms of life. Conventional methods such as precipitation, evaporation, electroplating, ion exchange, membrane process used for removal of heavy metals from waste water however, are often cost prohibitive having inadequate efficiencies at low metal ion concentrations. Adsorption technology has become one of the alternative treatments. It is observed that appropriated modification of the raw adsorbents especially xanthates can eliminate the drawbacks of adsorbent and improve their performances significantly. Xanthates are most prominent because they are highly insoluble, easy to prepare with relatively inexpensive reagents and have high stability constant values of the metal complexes formed. Xanthates are formed by reacting an organic hydroxyl containing substrate with carbon disulfide under caustic condition. One of organic hydroxyl-containing substrate that can be used for xanthation is food processing waste. The major factors affect the biosorption process are: contact time, initial metal ion concentration, temperature, pH & biomass concentration in solution. It is postulated that metal ion adsorption process could undergo a complex formation. Most of heavy metal adsorption into the xanthate compound followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm model, and well described by the pseudo-second- order equation.  Key-word : Adsorption, Xanthate, Heavy metal

Abstract

Video streaming is a technology play video files directly without having to download it. LTE (Long Term Evolution) is a mobile telecommunications technology as the evolution of HSDPA technology. LTE has the ability to transmit data at high speed. LTE network technology used in duplex mode FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) and TDD (Time Division Duplex). This study aims to determine the performance of video streaming on LTE network by using a TDD. The performance is analyzed include delay, packet loss, and throughput. The simulation results prove that the distance between UE and eNodeB with utilization factors influence the end-to-end delay, packet loss, and throughput in streaming video transmission. On the same data packet length, the greater the distance between the eNodeB with the EU, the greater the value of end-to-end delay. While the throughput of the smallest is 352 200 kbps which occurs when the distance between the eNodeB and UE is 10000 m with a utilization factor of 0.9.  Key-word : Video Streaming, LTE, TDD, jarak eNodeB ke UE, faktor utilisasi, delay end to end, packet loss, throughput

Abstract

Population growth since the post-crisis motorcycle Indonesia Economic in mid-1998 showed a new phenomenon. This is expected to affect traffic characteristics, which in turn can degrade the performance of estimated traffic infrastructure. Insert motorcycle moves forward through the gaps between the rows of cars queuing up to reach the stop line. Buildup that occurs even in general irregular and also violated the traffic rules as beyond the stop line, close the left turn traffic movement and prevents direct flow of pedestrians. One form of treatment is the provision of bike facilities in the form of a special stopping space facility (RHK) to motorcycles at urban crossroads.One way to examine the effectiveness of the implementation of RHK motorcycle is to assess the performance of traffic (flow) at the foot of the intersection. Results of analysis are before and after implementation of a motorcycle RHK (before, after 1 and after 2) shows that there is increase in the average number of vehicles at peak times up to 13% in the city of Bandung. Studies using the method of calculating the traffic flow MKJI 1997,  RHK obtained results that the application of motorcycles in urban crossroads affect the current to increase the average vehicle to reach more than 10%. Abstract

High School (SMU) as one of the educational institutions in Indonesia, has a range of issues and problems faced in running the learning process. One of the problems facing the system of placement of students in high school.Placement of students of this school system is influenced by student grades, student talents, and interests of students. If something goes wrong in choosing majors might be devastating for students if it does not match the capabilities, talents and interests. For that we need the existence of a specific decision support system to process the placement of students in high school second grade.The decision making process of this major election is determined by using fuzzy logic. Where in decision making, fuzzy logic will determine the declared value of membership if it fulfills the criteria for membership will be included in the specified department or not. This application is designed to provide ease in decision-making by performing calculations based on the report card process, aptitude tests, and student interest. Keywords: decision support systems, fuzzy logic, the placement of students in high school.

Abstract

Nata de coco is one of the functional food made from coconut milk which is processed through fermentation by using acetic acid bacteria, Acetobacter xylinum. It convert glucose into cellulose in coconut wate medium. Undigested cellulose consumed in the body that it will benefit to the human digestive system. The formation of nata requires a source of C, H, N, and minerals. Coconut water have already contains most of the nutrients it needs, but still needs to be enriched with other nutrient sources added. As a source of sugar can be added sucrose, glucose, fructose, starchs and flour maezena. This study aims to determine the physical properties of nata with different carbon sources. The addition of fructose would produce nata de coco with the most optimum yield at 0.755 g nata / ml coconut water with 8.41 mm thickness, 3.92 g wet weight and dry weight of 0.47 grams. However, nata produced has a less chewy texture with 87.56% moisture content. Key-word: Nata de coco, source of carbon, coconut water, Acetobacter xylinum

Abstract

Static converter and electronic device are able to generate harmonics current. Harmonics current can causes overheating of rotational machinery, transformator, magnetic contactor and cable of line distribution. Harmonic current effect is able to be reduced with using harmonic filter. Actually, for significant harmonic reduction must do field experiment or trial but determine resonance frequency, value of induktor and capacitor are first step in design filter before to do field experiment.  This papper to intoduce other analysis in determining or calculating resonance frequency which be basic in harmonic filter design.               Key word: frequency resonance, harmonic filter

Abstract

For insulated cable, heat factor is something that has to concern. Current capacity of a cable was influenced by characteristics of cable component. Losses at the cable will cause heat that would overcome through cable component with high resistance before it takes by environmental enclosed. The heating process will cause insulation material. Over heating process will fail insulation material and decrease lifetime of cable.Experiment on connector temperature of 20 kV middle voltage XLPE cable was doing by injecting constant alternating current from current injector to N2XEBY underground cable type that had cable connector. The test was by giving the different current level, using connector with different material, also with different torque for tightened connector bolt. In this test, we measure temperature on the cable junction every 5 minutes until the temperature equilibrium reaches.From the experiment we find that electrical current injection causes temperature to increase on cable parts until equilibrium. From relationship between current increasing and temperature increasing on cable parts we can see that maximum temperature increasing happened when it reaches equilibrium and time constant. We also see connector material and relationship torque for tightened cable connector bolt influence temperature and contact area increase. Key word : Termal characteristic, Cable connector, XLPE cable, Tourque, Equilibrium temperature

Abstract

HTB (Hierarchical Token Bucket) bandwidth management implementation on Jenderal Soedirman University is an improvement from PCQ (Per Connection Queue) bandwidth management. PCQ divide traffic automatically based on active users, its weakness is in dividing a large amount of active users. The HTB impelentation refers to Mikrotik RouterOS queue tree, consists of class and parent that is filled by outgoing-interface. Each parent is adjusted based on IP adress block on each node, and determine packet-mark through IP-firewall-mangle. From the implementation result, 2 Global-total or main parent can be obtained, Unsoed down and Unsoed up. 29 Global-in or parent child down and 29 Global-out or parent child up which each parent max-limit is determined by 17,5 Mbps. The users satisfaction based independent sample t-test give the mean value of HTB browsing is 2,823 and PCQ browsing is 2,79. The mean value of HTB downloading is 2,616 and PCQ downloading is 2,636. Those values show that theres no significant differences in Unsoed internet users satisfaction.Keywords : Implementation of bandwidth, Mikrotik RouterOS, queue, parent.
