Abstract

Nowadays, supply chain management is vital for palm oil plantations, along with the increases of competitive efforts and equal partnership position between suppliers and processors. The research aimed at mapping supply chain patterns of palm oil plantation, at analyzing performances of palm oil stakeholders, and at analyzing factors influencing performances of stakeholders in the province. The research was conducted using survey method by interviewing and focus group discussion. The results showed that (1) there were 3 supply chains flows from bunches of palm fruit to plants of palm fruit processing; (2) roles of stakeholders in supply chain management determining supply volumes, profits, and value added; and (3) factors influencing performances of stakeholders and competitive advantages were plantation productivity, cost allocation for invesment and operation, capacity  of processing plants, and CPO rendemen rate.

Abstract

The aims of this study were to portrait and understand a communication model for farmer community empowerment in the field and development efforts for the success of the farming community in the future. This study use constructivistic qualitative-interpretive paradigm. By understanding the phenomena that occur in the communication process in Lestari Makmur mushroom farmer group, identify important categories and construct as a portrait communication model. Based on the portrait of communication model, researchers tried to find alternative communication model for the future successfully of the farmer groups. This study has found an early model, which describes a communication model of mushroom farmer community empowerment that tend to be authoritarian. The leader of the farmer groups dominate in many things. It has been found two alternative community empowerment communication model: 1) Communication model of farmer community empowerment with the professional assistance, 2) Communication model of farmer community empowerment  with democratic leadership. It was concluded that the communication model of empowerment should be directed at the professional assistance, and for the future sustainability of the group, they are directed at the communication model with democratic leadership. It is important to  suggest to the farmer groups about the substantive of community empowerment, to understand on a mushroom farmer groups that responsibility is not only the cultivation of course, there are still many things to be done as a group of farmers to be more advanced in the future.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the appropriate strategy for PT Citra Utama Rahardja in maintaining business continuity. The case study method was used in this research, as PT Rahardja Citra Utama was a company that processes albasia wood (sengon) into barecore in Yogyakarta. The sources of data was taken from primary and secondary data. The results showed from SWOT analysis diagram was that layout of the company was in quadrant I, that was supported an aggressive strategy which included the integration of backward, forward, horizontal; market penetration; market development; product development; diversification (related or unrelated). Based on the calculation of SPACE matrix (Matrix of Strategic Position and Action Evaluation) the coordinate of SPACE matrix diagram on the X-axis was 1,785 and Y-axis was 0,16 that was in quadrant I. The competition ability of PT Citra Utama Rahardja was considered as high and able to respond the variable of  external factors.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the risk of paddy rice farming and the impact of the use of farm inputs to the risk of rice production in Bali Province. The research was conducted in three districts of rice production centers, Tabanan, Buleleng and Gianyar during two cropping seasons in 2012. The data collected through interviews with 122 randomly selected farmers. Risk production of low land rice was analyzed by the coefficient of variation, while the factors that affect the risk of rice production were analyzed with multiple linear regression analysis with multiplicative heteroskedastic method. The result showed that the risk production of rice on  wet season and the land does not belong to his own status is higher than dry season and his own status. Production factors that significantly affect the risk of rice production are land, organic fertilizers and pesticides.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the profitability of laying duck businesses and to analyze the feasibility of business laying duck in Kebonsari village, Candi Sub District, Sidoarjo, East Java. This research used descriptive qualitative approach and profitability analysis method. Primary data were collecting from 20 laying duck businesses in Kebonsari through interview and observa­tion. The research result showed that the business profitability value of laying duck is 36.15% that was classified as low. That is the reason, why more than half of breeders were not continued this busi­ness. In business scale, about 1.500 laying duck, the breeders have to spend Rp102.6 million as fix cost per year and Rp22.5 million as variable cost per month. This business give the breeders Rp11.2 million per month as a profit.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze predisposition (readiness), especially understanding and attitudes towards the tourist village program and to analyze community participation in the declaration and plan of participation in the program tourist village. The experiment was conducted in the village (Kampung) Santan Village Guwosari, Pajangan Bantul. Respondents are determined by the census. The results showed general cognitive understanding peoples understanding of the tourist village, the knowledge of the planning and launching of Kampung Dusun Santan as Tourism is still largely lacking (only know a little bit). This is due to the constraints of socialization and domination of the village leaders in planning the tourist village less evenly involve villagers. Once people get the socialization though still very limited, affective response was very positive and support the tourist village. They hoped that Kampung Santan be more advanced and increased economy. Public participation in the tourist village program showed improved symptoms, ranging from participation since the planning, at the time of the declaration and the time after the launching. Forms of participation can be seen from the amount of involvement of communities themselves and plan the most desirable programs. Tourism Village program were most interested in the community is the provision of infrastructure, because the program is expected to bring direct benefits to the community. It is recommended that the socialization and solidarity of citizens needs to be improved so that participation can be improved.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the trend of palm oil production, the trend of the value of production, trends of CPO(crude palm oil) export volume, trend value of Indonesian exports, as well as to determine the factors that influence the Indonesian CPO exports and to know the benefits of Indonesias CPO. The data that used are annual data which were analyzed using regression analysis to estimate the influential factors, the analysis of RCA (Revealed Comparative Abvantage) and AR (Acceleration Ratio) were used to determine the comparative advantage of the Indonesian palm oil in international market.The results showed that the trend of Indonesian palm oil production on average was increased, while the trend of the value of production, the export volume trend, and the trend of Indonesian CPO export value also increased from year to year. The high productivity of Indonesian palm oil production allows the State Indonesias CPO to exports to neighboring countries, such as China, India, and the Netherlands. From the results of research on the factors that influence the CPO exports to China state that the International CPO price, exchange rate, per capita income, population, and the price substitution (soybean). Factors affecting the CPO exports to China were the CPO price International, capita income of, population, and the price substitution. Factors that affecting CPO exports to Netherland countries were the domestic price, capita income, population, trend, and subtitusi price.Analysis to determine the comparative advantage to Indonesian CPO market showed that Indonesian CPORCA value was higher than the value of the RCACPO World wide  average, while the World RCA value of 1,06, this showed that the market share of Indonesian CPO superior and capableto compete in international market. The growth of Indonesian CPO export has accelerated and higher than other countries in the World (AR =1,009).

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to formulate the strategy of developing agribusiness of red potato in Solok Regency. The research was conducted on the district which has highest production of red potato in Solok Regency, Lembah Gumanti District. The method used on this research was SWOT matrix analysis and architectural strategic analysis. Based on SWOT analysis matrix, ten strategies were recommended in order to develop the agribusiness of red potato in Solok regency. From those ten strategies, sixteen recommended program was formulated based on analytical research. These programs were divided into  two, routine running program and gradually running program.

Abstract

Efforts to increase productivity of food crops, especially rice by using technology and innovation has been facing problems such as structure of the control and management of agricultural resources. This study aimed to identify the factors of farmer’s structural and managerial characteristics that affect paddy farming efficiency in Sleman. Survey conducted on wetland rice farmers in rural and sub urban areas that represent the condition of the structural and manjerial characteristics that  owned by farmers in Sleman. Analysis of stochastic frontier production function with the inclusion of the inefficiency effects model was conducted to identify determinants of production and the factors that affect the efficiency of farming. The result showed that the structural characteristics that influence the rice farming efficiency are the water irrigation source distance and the farm location, while the managerial characteristics factors are age, income outside the farm, participation in a group, experience and access to credit.

Abstract

Food security has meaning not only the availability of adequate food, but also providing security for producers and consumers and ensuring environmental sustainability for sustainable production. Organic farming systems are expected to solve the problem for realizing food security and enhancement of peoples welfare. The results of research indicated that, (1) The implementation level of Standard Operating Procedure-Good Agriculture Practice (SOP-GAP) of Organic Rice Farming in Bantul district was quite high, (2) The implementation level of SOP-GAP of Organic Rice Farming related to the availability of capital, the selling price and the purchase price of inputs (seeds and fertilizers), (3) The level of the farmers decision related to the implementation level of SOP-GAP of organic rice farming, and (4) development of organic rice farming required availability of sufficient capital. In this regard the government, particularly the agriculture authority and food security agency need to disburse or facilitate capital for farmers in revolving as well as low interest loans.
