Abstract

Pasaran is the only productive small island functioning as the anchovy and green clam production center in Bandar Lampung. Its water use has, however, increased since its designation as an economically fishery-based development area or minapolitan in 2012. This is due to the fact that groundwater resources in small island ecosystems surrounded by seawaters with a narrow diameter are easily affected by the insistence of seawater. Moreover, population pressure and land-use change are also feared to be affecting groundwater quality. Therefore, this research was conducted to analyze and evaluate groundwater resource quality in Pasaran Island using five wells on the entire island as sampling points selected based on census. The samples were tested for physical, chemical, and biological parameters in the laboratory and compared with water quality standards (Minister of Health’s Regulation No. 32/2007). The results showed relatively low water quality because the samples contained up to 3900 μS/cm salinity, 3771.9 mg/l chlorides, 31.7–141.52 mg/l nitrates, and 6.8–170 MPN/100ml total coliform which exceed the standards for drinking water. Meanwhile, wells 1, 4, and 5 were found to be safe for sanitation-hygiene purposes and well 1 was suitable for public baths even though they are not of drinking quality. This means the groundwater quality generally met Class II-water requirements for clean water supplies.

Abstract

Kulon Progo has been struggled to cope with the issues of poverty and food insecurity. The provincial and local governments pay a lot of attention to tackling these deprivation problems. The BKPP DIY developed a composite index which concluded that poverty is the primary cause of the deprivation. Therefore, this paper aims to explore the rural deprivation in Kulon Progo by assessing its aspects including poverty, food insecurity conditions, livelihoods, and local food potentials. Several methods, including typology, livelihood calculation, and resource possibility mapping are introduced for the preliminary analysis of this deprivation. The findings show that in Kulon Progo, (1) most of the deprived areas are located in the typology of upland region, (2) based on its of five assets, in general, the livelihood condition in Kulon Progo needs an improvement on financial, natural, and physical capitals, and (3) presenting the local food clusters based on its local food plantation area and production, so that these findings could give alternatives for the decision makers to develop the rural (deprived) areas.

Abstract

National Park of Meru Betiri (TNMB) is one of National Park which exist in the region tip East Java Part of South arch residing in region tip East Java Part of South arch. This National Park has various function in protecting system of the life of flora and fauna with the ecosystems. The existence of National Park has a big advantagerus for the communities who live around the area. Along with change of period to governance in the new order becomes a reform governance makes the TN-MB ruined as the effect of foray. Hall Management of DAS Sampean-Madura (2002) reports that National Park of Meru Betiri which its width 58.000 Ha, for about 4.023 Ha have destroyed without vegetation or it becomes farm of season crop. With that condition, so the area is specified as Rehabilitation zone The research is conducted with the method of survey then clarified with the method of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). Analyses data used by the descriptive analysis qualitative. The result of the research can be known that there is a high resistence or threat to the society who live around the TN MB which specified with the job where mostly as a farmer ( 35,86 %) and hard farmer (38,74 %) while the most agraris 16,6 person / Ha. Mine’s land for about 0,219 Ha / KK and productive age 63,8 %. So, it can be conclude that the rehabilitation of TN MB for this time is more concentrate to the zone area of rehabilitation and the edvantage of avoiding the farm to the jungle zone and conten zone. It is also necessary that the factor of social economic not only used to formulate the zonasi but it also used as a basis for a reconstruction of Merubetiri National Park.

Other reason defeated by the rapid development of the branch of technical geography such as geographical information systems (GIS) and remote sensing. It hopes that this bibliography can contribute of remotivating geographers to learn and review their original geographical thought.

Abstract

The study Non Permanent Mobility and Remmitance was conducted in Tanjung Village Juwiring Subdistrict Klaten entral Java. Non Permanent Mobility in the village was due to the outcome of the development, particularly the transportation facilities permitting the public transport to reach the depth of the village. The mobility of going back and from village to town was the consequence of the increasing job opportunities in town and the decreasing job opportunities in the village, as well as the striking difference of wages between what the people got in the village and that in town. The mobility of the commuting people also influenced the development in the village an addition to reducing the population density in town because the people did not stay permanently. The study was that mobile agents had better income than those who were not. The study showed that the working term, the working hours per week, and the level of education did not have  significant influence on the income. This was due the fact that most of the commuting people worked in the marginal sectors. The remmitance that the people brought from town constituted the main contribution to the life of the migrants. The remmitance was mainly spent for primary needs. Based on the research outcome, it is advisable that the transportation facilities be improved so that the commutation becomes easier since non permanent mobility of is proved to have increased the quality of their life and social environment.

Abstract

The Northern Suburbs of Bandung City are the areas affected by the expansion of Bandung City. In fact, one of the impacts of the expansion is the increase in land prices on the Northern Suburbs of Bandung. This present study aims at mapping the land prices and finding out factors affecting the land prices on the Northern Suburbs of Bandung. The method used in this study was a descriptive approach by explaining the results of the field analysis. The data were collected by interviewing 120 respondents accidentally in all villages bordering Bandung City. The data were analyzed using percentage analysis and spatial modelling. The results showed that the most expensive land price in 2019 could be found in Cimenyan District, specifically located in Ciburial Village at the price of Rp. 3,437,000 per square meters, in Lembang District, particularly in Lembang Village at the price of Rp. 5,000,000 per square meters, and in Parongpong District, particularly in Ciwaruga Village at the price of Rp. 4,312,500 per square meter. The increased land prices in the Northern Suburbs of Bandung City is caused by the ease of accessibility, the establishment of many luxury settlements, and tourism sites.

Abstract

Karst environment become an alternative tourist destination as well as to boost local revenues. In karst environments in Grobogan District, Central Java Province, formed Urang Cave, with an interesting endokarst phenomenon. This study aims to do zoning district Urang Cave as tourist sites. The research method is using contour maps as a base map of Urang Cave karst environment geomorphological mapping. Geomorphological data processing is using ArcView GIS 3.3 program. Land use map refers to RBI, scale 1:25.000. Geomorphological analysis refers to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 1456.K/20/MEM/2000, and petrography. Each development zone is analyzed its geophysical environmental element, then set scoring and value summation. For comprehensive environmental element analysis, chemical analysis of rocks, and water-soil chemistry. In reference to Minister of Energy Mineral Resource decrees No. 1456/K/20/MEM/2000, Urang Cave zoning defined into 3 (three) zone, as follow: the Protected Zone, Cultivation Zone 1, and Cultivation Zone 2. Protected Zone, consists of Urang Cave tunnel/hallway with a unique spheleothem in it. This zone as a cave tracking site tourism, potential to produce karst water as a decent drinking water while maintaining hardness. Cultivation Zone 1 is spreading about 200 m in distance from outer appearance of spring around the cave hallway. In this zone mining of cave sediments may be done in the inactive form caves, without changing the state of the existing major exokarst morphology. Cultivation Zone 2, an outer zone, located farthest from the tunnel/hallway Urang Cave. Utilization of this zone as a limestone mining quarry, although only on a small scale.

Abstract

Tendency of land use conversion is followed by maximum discharge of Kreo River, but unknown land use type what which can race improvement of runoff. Purpose of the research is study the relation of rainfall runoff at forest, rice field, and mixed garden. Research about rainfall runoff study is including research type of experiment for purpose of descriptive, through observation of rain data and water level at small watershed with one land use types that is forest, rice field, and mixed garden. Instrument of rain and water level attached at small watershed during the rains 2007.Data analysis comprises analysis of stream hydrograph, rain analysis, stream coefficient, and statistic analysis as well. Big the so small runoff value is more determined by rainfall amounts happened non land use type. Number of big rains at one land use will yield big runoff also, while the same rainfall amounts at some land use types will yield varying runoff follows land use type and condition of soil At small watershed (less than 200 ha), the relation of rainfall (P) with direct runoff (DRO) has very strong correlation (R2 bigger than 0.7). Relation between rain intensity (I) with DRO; I with peak discharge (Qp); duration of rain (DR) with DRO; DR with Qp indicated weak reaction (R2 less than 0.3). It indicated there were many factors (more than 70%) which influenced the above mentioned relations. Runoff coefficient value at forest was 0,3566, mix forest was 0,4227, rice field was 0,6661, and mixed garden was 0,4227. Land ability to permeate in the forest (65%) is bigger than mixed garden (57%) and rice field (33%).

Abstract

Geomorphology as a part of earth sciences has a already known  for along time, however the development and application is relatively slow, especially in Indonesia. There is a tendency that the concept as well as the application of geomprphology will increase rapidly. The aims of this paper are to discuss the concept of geomorphology. The role of geomorphology in the physical geography studies and its application research activities. Geomorphology deal with land form as  subject of study and stressed on relief, processes, materials (lithology and its structure), and chronology has important role in the physical geography. Geomorphology be able to support of other sciences related to physical environment such as geology, pedology, hydrology, and archaelogy. In the practical application, geomorphology can be used in engineering purposed and regional development planning. In the research activities geomorphology can be used as basic frame work to determine sample areas, and also can be used as frame work to land resources evaluation with land form unit as land mapping unit or evaluation unit.

Abstract

The term of acid rain is referred to the mean rainfall with a pH less than 5.65. The element of SOx and NOx are the major sources of acid rain. These two elements are oxidized into S04 and N03 respectively in the air. Sulfate and nitrate are water soluble and the primary sources of hydrogen ions in acid precipitation. Rain passing through a tree canopy may lose or gain mineral elements through some combination of natural process of absorption and leaching. By this process, the canopy may reduce rainfall acidity and negative effects of the acid rain which will enter into the soil. Due to characteristic differences among tree canopies, a study to evaluate effectiveness of the trees in reducing rainfall acidity was done. In this study, rainfall and through fall were collected every single rain and the pH measured by portable pH-meter. Based on data collection during 3 months in Medan Industrial Estate, it found that the mean pH of rainfall was 5, 15. The highest pH of through fall was found from Gnetum gnemon, that was 5.70, following by Mimusops elengi, Filicium decipiens, Adacia mangium and the lowest was Nephelium lappacum. G. gnemon was able to reduce 11% of rainfall acidity, but N. lappacum caused 13 %increasing rainfall acidity. In this study, the main source of rainfall acidity was hydrogen from sulfate acid (54%), following by chloride acid (30%) and nitrate acid (16%).
