Abstract

Carrying capacity in a broad sense can be defined as the ability of environment to support activities to a specific level.  This study aimed to describe the carrying capacity of land in Baubau City. The methods used are land physical approach and land economic approach. The land physical approach has conducted by suitability analysis of land capability on the actual land use and spatial pattern plan. The land economic  approach has been done by calculating the economic value generated by each class of land use. The results showed that of the total area of 29,313.96 ha Baubau City, physically carrying capacity of land is relatively good, where 21,890.80 ha (74.68 %) is suitable and 7,423.13 ha (25.32 %) is not suitable, whereas economically with the assumption to feasible lives is Rp8,750,000 per year, meet the carrying capacity 442,083 of life or 3.1 times of total population of Baubau City.  This study recommended that land management in Baubau city should be directed to control the constructed land and the protection of agricultural land and forestry.

Abstract

Tanah Datar is one of regency in West Sumatera that has a great potential in agriculture, which is more than 70% of  its population are farmers. Unfortunately, the economic income of this regency is lowest than another regency in West Sumatera. This research aimed: (1) to identify superior estate comodities of Tanah Datar Regency; (2) to identify present land use of Tanah Datar Regency; (3) to analyze land availability and to evaluate land suitability of superior estate commodities; (4) to arrange the direction of superior estate commodities development. Land  suitability  evaluation was  done  by  using the matching method  between land characteristics and crops requirement. The study showed that the available land for development of  superior comodities is about 38.210 ha which is suitable for robusta coffee (X koto); nutmeg (Batipuh); cocoa (Batipuh selatan, Rambatan, Limo kaum, Tanjung emas, and Lintau buo utara); rubber (Padang gantiang); cassievera (Pariangan and Salimpauang); vanilla (Sungai tarap); and arabica coffee (Salimpauang), respectively.

Abstract

The impact of critical land create reduction quality of soil characteristics, which can interfere with the function of conservation, production, economic, and social life of the community. The objectives of this research are to analyzing and mapping of critical land, reviewing relevance of critical land distribution to the spatial pattern and making direction of rehabilitation in regional development in Kendal. The analytical methode which is used in this study were selecting parameters of critical land  and overlay using GIS to map the distribution of critical land. The result of this research is the critical land area in modification parameter is 34.317,87 ha, and parameter of P. 4/V-Set/2013 is 19.535,96 ha. General direction for land rehabilitation is vegetative conservation activity and technical civil conservation for erosion and sedimentation control. Direction for regional development in forest area is to develop PHBM through activity of agroforestry, community forest, ecotourism and medicinal plant cultivation in the forest. Direction on the farm cultivation area, especially on abandoned land and yards, is by optimization of community forest, by planting activities using perennials plant, MTPS and fruits plant, to control critical land, soil conservation and water management as well as increase community incomes by selling products from community forests.

Abstract

The increasing of paddy field change has threatened the fulfillment of rice needs. The objective of this research is to analyze the spatial pattern of land use change, to predict land use change in 2030, to arrange rice availability balance sheet in 2030 and to arrange land use direction to support rice availability in Brebes and Cilacap Regencies. The rate of paddy field change started from 2005 till 2015 in Brebes regency higher than the rate of change in Cilacap. Land use change model is built using cellular automata (CA) approach. The prediction in 2030 have shown settlements will be growing while the paddy field will have more high pressure. The prediction of paddy field in both of Regency. The calculation in 2030 shows that either Brebes regency or Cilacap regency has already surplus with the amount of rice surplus from year to year constantly will decrease. To maintain the rice availability, paddy field is directed to be protected. Shrub and mix crop are directed to be paddy field to increase rice production

Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enteprises (UMKM) have a significant potential in contribution to local economic development in Indonesia. Within the development of economic sector and a dynamic population in Kecamatan Ciparay, UMKM of manufacturing industry is increasing as well, especially the small and home industries. Nevertheless, the industries still not put into practice optimally yet and give less contribution to the local economy. This article aims to analyze the development of the small and home industries in Kecamatan Ciparay with an analysis approach of DPSIR (Driver, Pressure, State, Impact and Response). The study applied descriptive research method. Questionnaire, interview and field observation were conducted in the study area. The results found that the development of the small and home industries is driven by some driver factors such as industrialization, socio-economic dynamic as well as local policy and strategy aspects. DPSIR model approach has identified some driver factors and the impacts of the small and home industries in a comprehensive system. A considerable attention of local government and decision makers becomes crutial focal point in order to support the UMKM in Kecamatan Ciparay.
