Abstract

Al-Kindi was the first Arab thinker who paid great attention to epistemology. Although al-Kindi adopted many of the epistemological theories of earlier Greek philosophers, al-Kindi's epistemology has fundamental differences and more values due to his belief in Islamic principles. Based on that, this research will discuss the epistemological concept of al-Kindi's perspective. Through a library research study with a descriptive-analytical approach, it can be concluded, first: al-Kindi's epistemological concept is different from the epistemological concept of the Greek philosophers who negate the role of revelation in it. Second, al-Kindi is very concerned with 'illah or the cause of the nature of a science, which includes material, formal, efficient and final causes, all of which begin and end in the cause of al-haq or God. Third, there are three sources of al-Kindi's knowledge, namely the five senses, rational and divine knowledge which is the highest science.

Abstract

Dalam atmosfer tradisional sebuah mitos senantiasa berelasi dengan tiga struktur, alam, manusia dan Tuhan. Sehingga tidak ada mitos yang tidak memiliki titik-titik relasi ketiga hal ini. Namun, dalam dunia di mana hegemoni modernisme mendominasi cara berpikir dan bertindak, sehingga pada gilirannya menciptakan atmosfer modernya sendiri, titik-titik yang saling bersambungan dalam dunia tradisional terputus satu sama lain. Implikasinya, tatanan kosmos tradisional pecah, terfragmentasi. Dunia tradisional juga memberikan tanda, sekaligus juga jalan pada sejenis upaya penjagaan yang bersifat lembut atas realitas, melalui mitos. Di mana kata kuncinya adalah keselarasan, melalui mitos, tradisi mempertahankan domain alam, manusia dan Tuhan, bekerja secara bersamaan. Dalam konteks inilah penelitian ini hendak menelaah sejauh mana pengaruh mitos masih jadi pedoman (dalam masyarakat Desa Darmaraja-Sumedang) dan mempertahankan relevansinya di hadapan kepungan pengaruh modernisme. Adalah mitos—yang kemudian menjadi kearifan lokal atau anutan kepercayaan—di sana dipertahankan, atau justru dikompromikan dengan keadaan. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa mitos larangan membangun rumah bertingkat (dalam masyarakat Desa Darmaraja-Sumedang) dipertahankan, dan sekalipun sudah ada yang melanggar mitos ini, secara filosofis dan secara faktual, data menunjukan kekukuhan mitos.

Abstract

This research aims to explore Habermas' ideas about the philosophy of science in the critical schools. His idea is a counter to the positivism school which is considered to fail in understanding the humanitarian knowledge (geisteswistenschaften). The study was conducted using a library approach. Data collecting is done through a study of the literature, either in hard copy or soft copy, or online or offline. The results of this study confirm that human knowledge is not value-free. Therefore, human knowledge cannot be understood only by empirical evidence. On the other hand, human knowledge can only be understood by understanding the meaning symbolized through expression and language. Furthermore, Habermas also affirmed the importance of directing knowledge to interests that free the oppression of human life. So that human knowledge has a contribution to the struggle for justice.

Abstract

Abstract The stigma against local religions as heretical teachings and non-official state religion has resulted in their existence being always faced various existential challenges.  It is the experience of the local religion of Sunda Wiwitan in Cigugur, Kuningan, West Java, the case study of this research. It was forced to disband twice in the past. It was a tragic event that Sunda Wiwitan did not expect again. Therefore, the local religion which was formerly known as the Javanese Sundanese Religion (ADS) must find the appropriate strategy for its existence in order to survive. This ethnographic study describes the significance of the Sérén Taun ceremony for the existence of Sunda Wiwitan. The thanksgiving ceremony for the harvest, for Sunda Wiwitan, is not just a cultural representation of the Sundanese agrarian society.  It is mainly as a strategy for survival, a medium for criticism and resistance, as well as a form of public communication regarding its existence. The ceremony, which is full of moral and cultural values from the Sundanese ethnic community, is a way of how Sunda Wiwitan is inclusive of the socio-cultural life in which it is located. The state's appreciation of Sérén Taun by making it an Intangible Cultural Heritage and the involvement of the community in every Sérén Taun ceremony is a sign that Sunda Wiwitan is increasingly being recognized and appreciated. Now the Sérén Taun ceremony is a prototype of how other local religions can survive by exploring and strengthening their roots, namely culture.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Hoaks dibuat seseorang/kelompok dengan beragam tujuan. Hoaks biasanya muncul ketika sebuah isu mencuat ke permukaan, namun banyak hal yang belum terungkap atau menjadi tanda tanya. Menyikapi konten media sosial dan media berita daring yang menawarkan informasi yang bermuatan hoaks dibutuhkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi efektivitas kemampuan berpikir kritis sebagai sebuah cara dalam menangkal hoaks yang disajikan dalam bentuk informasi pada media media sosial dan media berita daring. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kombinasi (mixed method) dengan desain konvergen. Metode kuantitatif mengumpulkan data menggunakan teknik survei. Sedangkan, untuk metode kualitatif dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara mendalam yang hasilnya kemudian dielaborasi dengan data kuantitatif dan disajikan secara deskriptif. Unit analisis penelitian ini adalah 131 mahasiswa rentang usia 16 – 27 tahun dengan beragam jurusan yang tersebar di Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (PTN) dan Perguruan Tinggi Swasta (PTS) di Kota Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan mahasiswa mengakses informasi terkait informasi gaya hidup dan politik lebih dari sekali dalam sehari dan sungguh menyadari bahwa setiap informasi/berita merupakan representasi sudut pandang atau ideologi tertentu. Menariknya, responden merasa perlu mengetahui bagaimana cara media menyajikan informasi/berita dengan segala kepentingan yang melatar belakanginya. Suburnya infomasi hoaks mendorong mahasiswa mengkases banyak informasi dengan tetap mengedepankan rasionalitas dan objektivitas data. Tingkat kepercayaan terhadap informasi atau berita yang disajikan oleh media digital belum menunjukkan persentasi yang memuaskan. Salah satu alasannya karena kepentingan mahasiswa mengakses informasi atau berita masih sekedar mencari informasi hiburan dan mengisi waktu luang. Mahasiswa juga menilai bahwa media informasi/berita digital sangat berpengaruh pada pembentukkan pola pikir. Hoaks menimbulkan kepanikan, kegaduhan, menggiring opini publik untuk mudah menerima dan memercayainya sebagai sebuah kebenaran. Maka berpikir kritis menjadi menjadi sebuah keharusan kompetensi untuk mendengarkan dan membaca logika masyarakat, literasi media sejak dini, bijaksana dalam menyampaikan pesan, telusuri sumber berita, dan analisis wacana kritis.

Abstract

Islamic basic education is tauhid. Islamic scholars tried to make the idea of the oneness of Allah as pure as possible. as the chaos that erupted in the scope of Indonesia. Even though many humans have the knowledge and are able to learn it, they ignore the Khaliq who teaches it. This study uses a qualitative methodology known as a literature review to describe and elaborate on the idea of monotheism education from the perspective of Sheikh Muhammad Nafis Al-Banjarie in Kita Ad-Durun Nafis. From the late 18th century to the early 19th century, Sheikh Muhammad Nafis al-Banjari was a Banjar scholar. In the Malay world, he is the most important figure in the field of Sufism. According to Sheikh Muhammad Nafis, education must be based on the belief that Allah is the source of knowledge. Allah, who permits and provides for human beings, is the main factor in all that we can achieve. This is because humans have a mortal nature that will vanish if given a good nature, such as Allah SWT.

Abstract

Abstract The goal pf this research to examine Śadrâ’s view on the “soul-body relation” in order to solve the “explanatory gap and the hard problem of consciousness” which are the basic core of the mind-body problem in the philosophy of mind. The explanatory gap explains how physical property can give influence non-physical things conversely. Meanwhile, the hard problem mentions how physical system (material) can produce subjectivity in the mind (non-physics/ immaterial), especially when we have experience. In this context, there is a gap that appears between the immaterial mind and the material body. According to the author’s view, Śadrâ’s philosophy of mind-body relation can solve the problem because it is based on principles of Hikmah Muta’âliyah philosophy, which is “monis of existential-dualism of essential” [in author’s term]. In this research, the author develops the research using Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic and philosophical approaches. This research would like to highlight Hikmah Muta’âliyah philosophy, which synthesizes philosophy, theology, and tasawuf (‘irfân), which can be the reference for Muslims (or anyone interested in Islamic Philosophy) to solve philosophical problems. In other explanations, Islamic tradition [in this paper it is represented by Śadrâ] can contribute to contemporary philosophical discourse without making tendentious claim that Western Philosophy cannot solve problems better than the philosophy of Śadrâ.
