Abstract

The title of this research is the Change of Marriage System at Besemah Society in Pagar Alam Province of south Sumatra. The problems investigated in this research were related to the causes of changes in the marriage system and the impact of changes towards the ancestry, the settle tradition after marriage, and the right to inheritance. This research aimed at understanding towards the changing in society marriage system. This research was a qualitative descriptive. In this research, purposive technique was used in order to determine the participants of the research: 13 participants were involved in this study which consisted of 2 traditional leaders, two people who expert about the tradition of Besemah, and 9 people who applied the same endean marriage system. The data were collected by using: in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Collected data is processed and analyzed. Taxonomy and triangulation techniques were used for analyzing data. The results of this study showed that there has been a change in society marriage system of Besemah from Kule berete to endean same, meanwhile the sources of change was reduced depend to their parents, job and the economy. The lineage society of Besemah was applied the marriage system same endean was patrilineal, and settle tradition after marriage is patrilocal, and the right to inheritance is based on the Islamic Sharia, an inheritance was a collective property, a son who becomes heir, all biological children as a heir but son got inherit more than girl, the distribution of the inheritance when the heir passed away.

Abstract

"Spare time" or "free time" is remaining time someone has besides the time they have for series of mandatory activities to make ends meet. Thus, spare time can be filled with activities such relaxing, resting, recreation, or any other activities to develop one's self without any coercion from others. With Torkildsen (2011) approach, in this writings we found out that Chinese ethnic merchants and Toba Bataknese ethnic merchants in Tanjung Pinang have different ways to spend their spare time: (1) On their time while doing the business, Chinese ethnic merchants prefer to fill their spare time watching television and on the other hand Toba Bataknese ethnic merchants prefer to spend their free time listening to the music. (2) As an activity, on their free time Chinese ethnic merchants choose to travel; Toba Bataknese ethnic merchants choose to do some exercises. (3) For positive mental health or for better mood, Chinese ethnic merchants choose to pay a visit to synagogues, while in contrary Toba Bataknese ethnic merchants prefer to attend "family-name gathering". (4) For broaden meaning of spare time, Chinese ethnics merchants prefer activities which give them freedom, while Toba Bataknese ethnic merchants choose to have conversations with colleagues. (5) From lifestyle perspective, both Chinese and Toba Bataknese ethnic merchants choose to fill their spare time with social activities.

Abstract

Issues raised is how the availability and utilization of school facilities as an arena of social space and the types of activities that can form a social space. This study was a descriptive qualitative study. The results showed that school facilities are available at SDN 179 include adequate and can support the activities of both students and teachers at school. Availability of school facilities as an arena of social space that includes a field school, 'canteen honest', and the mosque which became the arena of social space for students to interact, play and set up in cooperation with the other students. In addition to school facilities, types of activities in this school can also shape the social space. This school has two types of activities, namely academic activities such as learning and courses, as well as extracurricular activities that include Scouts, Sports, Drum Band and Karate. However, activities that can form a social space is Scout activities and sports in which this activity is the most widely followed by students. In the lead this activity, students can mingle and interact directly with other students and teachers. Students make this activity as a social space as a place to establish interaction, cooperation and familiarity with other students.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to analyze the women’s participation in village development, and to determine the motivations of this in Pulai Gading area, Bayung Lencir, Musi Banyuasin region. The methodology used is descriptive qualitative research method and case study research used for the design. The primary and secondary data were used in this research. Selecting the informant using the purposive method. Analysis unit used is on individual level. This theory used social action from Talcott Parsons. Deep interviewing on the subjected parties; women and men, religious leader, officials, and documentation study used in collecting the data. Triangulation source used for the data validity check. Data analysis tehnique used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Low participation rate comes out as the result of this research as shown from participation types; mind, energy, mind and energy, and expertise. Two kinds of motivations; internal and external. The internal includes the willingness and ability in participating. Meanwhile the external includes surrounding’s opinion and government policy. The low education and economy background are the main internal inhibitions, in the other hand, the poor access of information, socio-culture factor, and geographical factor.

Abstract

The basic principles of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) in line with the concept of mining management is good and right (good mining practices). Minerals including coal should be optimally utilized because it must be able to protect the functions of the environment and society. Referring to this, company should be able to provide increased prosperity to its stakeholders. That includes community involvement in mining activities that pay attention to the better direction of environmental quality. This study aimed to examine the CSR program of PT. Bukit Asam ( Persero ) Tbk. The relation of community based bokashi with the empowerment of people and the environment after mining activities were studied. Bokashi fertilizer production is likely to increase the income of the people, also, on the other hand the company will be facilitated with the supply of fertilizer to be used in the reclamation stage, especially for re-vegetation activities. This research is a descriptive study using survey methods to groups of people who produce bokashi fertilizer. Based on F test results obtained all the independent variables together have a significant impact on the community empowerment variables with calculated F value of 7.293 > 2.766 compared F table . The result of partial test (t test) found that the variable of interest CSR ( X1 ) and the issue of CSR ( X2 ) affect positively towards community empowerment with the t value respectively 2.780 and 2.797 > than t table of 2.002 . In terms of the environment empowerment of post-mining activities, it could be seen from the results of monitoring activities. It showed that percentage of plants growth were 76.56 to 97.80%, the highest number of plants growth was 1,140 plants / ha and the lowest number was 685 plants / ha.

Abstract

This study aims to understand Juray tuwe legitimacy his power in Talang Sejemput Village. Specifically this study detailing the sources of power, mechanisms of using and maintaining sources of power, to explain social relations and political Juray Tuwe with rural communities, and explain the implications of power Juray Tuwe on politics and government, social and economic, as well as security and order in the village. This study used a qualitative design with intrinsic case study strategy. This research paradigm critism and approach is poststructuralism Michael Focault. Collecting data using the technique of participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of literature. The results showed the legitimacy of power is very closely related to the sources of power, which is used as a reference in the mechanism of arranging the order of village and as a guide in making decisions on the behavior of the rural communities that are considered contrary to customary law. Maintenance of power sources is realized through  a variety of actions, activities, and special ritual, so that its implementation can be accepted, recognized, and implemented in rural communities. The pattern of the relationship between Juray Tuwe by the village elite shows the mutual support ang complement, although the implementation of customs rules more dominant. Juray Tuwe’s power implications in the lives of rural communities capable of promoting the values of social cohesion and sustainable use of natural resources based on the needs of life.

Abstract

This research aims to observe about the main source of ethnic conflict in Toboali South Bangka, any parts that involved in this ethnic conflict, what stages of the dynamics of ethnic conflict and conflict resolution models such as what needs to be implemented in an attempt to create a peace between these two ethnic groups. This research is a qualitative research using the paradigm of constructivism and the intrinsic case study research strategy. In determining the informant is done by using purposive sampling method. Data was collected by in-depth interviews, participant observation and documentation of the number of informants as many as seventeen.Results from this study indicate that the source of ethnic conflict in Toboali there are three sources: 1). Scramble of Timah Resources. 2) Regarding the difference in interest Manage Access Sea. 3). The existence of social segregation. The period of conflict dynamics can be identified into 4 periods they are 1) The beginning of migration of Selapan migrant to Toboali untill appear of bad prejudice (Praconflict Periode 1980-2001). 2). Beginning of digging of Tin by people, untill appear of confrontation actions (Confrontation Periode 2001-2011). 3) Agression action by group of Bangka Ethnic to residential of Selapan Ethnic, untill demonstration action that ended by commotion (Crisis Period 2011-2014). 4). Publication of Inpres No.1 on 2014 about handling safety disturbances intra country by central government (Pasca Conflict Periode 2014-now). Then the actors that involved in the conflict can be identified from group of Bangka ethnic including a). The Leader of Bangka Fisherman Association. b). The Social Figure of Bangka Ethnic c). The Racketeer of mining industries   While an actor from Selapan ethnic was Tin owner that was a Selapan social figure. Recommendations of conflict resolution that offered is mediation to accommodate all interests and empowering groups involved.
