This journal is published twice a year and serves as a tool for researchers, academics and practitioners interested in basic education and learning studies and wishes to channel their thoughts and findings, especially in relation to studies in science at madrasah ibtidaiyah / elementary schools. Abstract

There are quite a lot of systems of theory which are constructed to examine learning problems, but it must be recognized that most of the history of learning theories are dominated by connectionist and behaviorism. Learning cannot be separated from the discussion of human nature, science, and education themselves. Many people talk about it, in this case, their conception may enrich the percepective of the learning theory itself so that it make the learning theory varied. The intense of this article is to review the concept of learning and instruction based on Skinner’s behaviorisme learning theory, and it is expected that what is discussed in this article  to be implemented in an ideal education form.

Abstract

This article reviews the aspects of cultural understanding as used the mastery of the politeness in the language education. These all cultural understanding, mastery of politeness, and language education should be integrated by the teacher in the learning situation both inside and outside of the classroom. Both the social amenity and the food are good for beginning to achieve the mastery of politeness in a community culture or in the cross-cultural society. Language is a communication device between a member of social group and others. It is Important to maintain the social relation. Politeness cannot be mastered without the real activity in the language used dally.

Abstract

This article aims at discovering and analyzing educational values in the Naruto comic critically and finding its relevance to Islamic education by focusing on the material aspects of the comic series, volume 1 – 30. True education is the gateway to usher humanity toward a higher civilization and humanist with alignment based on the human relationships, the environment, and the creator. To achieve the goal of education, in this case, a learning material plays a very crucial role. It is because the material is an operational part of education. Various parties related to the education, especially teachers, are always required to master and understand the materials to be delivered to the learners. Considering learning materials occupies a very important position of the whole curriculum which should be prepared in order to achieve the implementation of learning objectives, in this case, Naruto can be used as a teaching material, in which its story conveys propositions or ideas. Besides, Naruto has tremendous appeal, so that the message is easily digested and understood, and it does not seem also to be patronizing. Although the material which is in the form of the story presented in Naruto is very limited, but from the aspect of material absorption, the messages in the comic story is much lighter to digest

Abstract

Giving the right stimulus in early stage of age gives a very great impact to the next human development process. There are many methods that we can apply for balancing the right brain and the left brain capability. One of them is using a flash card as a media which uses a card game. Flash card is an effective media to teach children in reading a text and knowing their surrounding in an early age. Trough flash card we can introduce colours, animals, letters, numbers, and other things. In principle, introducing the learning materials trough flash card can be delivered in a simple way and the most important is a pleasure atmosphere both for the children (the learner) and the teacher. Therefore, we can conclude that eventhough the learning process only takes a few minutes but it gives a big benefit for our children.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the influence of multisensory method to increase children prior ability in reading skill. It was done by using quasi experiment with pre-test post-test control group design. The result has shown that there was a significant infuence of using multisensory method to increase children’ prior ability in reading skill. Therefore, it is better for teacher of early education to teach reading by giving reading stimuation which pays attention to the children development factors  and arranges in comfortable ways.

Abstract

The aims of this study were describing the process of mathematics learning and its problem solving for primary III students whom school was applying PMRI approach and non applying PMRI approach (Realistic Mathematics Education in Indonesia). This research was a qualitative case study type. The subject of this study divided into 2, which were: subject for searching information about learning process and subject for searching information about problem solving. Subject in this study were 2 primary teachers, 1 teacher from SD “A” Demangan Baru and 1 teacher from SD “B” Demangan, another subject were  4 students, 2 students from SD “A” Demangan Baru and 2 students from SD “B” Demangan. The data was divided into 2, which were learning process data that contain about teacher and student activities in learning and mathematical problem solving data that contain about information problem solving in mathematics. Learning process data was collected from recording transcription result of learning activities toward two observations, while mathematical problem solving data was collected by using the think aloud method. The results revealed that the teaching and learning process at the school which apply PMRI approach began with providing contextual problems. The student do mathematical mathematization even though with simple language and symbols. Students construct their own knowledge and teacher was as the facilitator. However, the process of interweaving one material to another was still not observed yet. In the process of teaching and learning at non-PMRI school, teacher began the teaching and learning process by explaining homework. There was no activity of solving problems in group. Students solved a problem by using the way that their teacher teaches them and the skill was developed based on the example and exercises. The problem solving skill of students who have high ability at school which applied PMRI approach was better than that of students who have high ability at school which did not apply PMRI approach. However, the problem solving skill of students who have low ability at school which applied PMRI approach is not better than that of students who have low ability at school which did not apply PMRI approach

Abstract

Learning materials for Science (IPA) in elementary school possibly touch and can be integrated with Islamic values so that it can increase the value of faith or belief on Islam especially for the learners. However,  it has not been implemented yet in teaching learning process of Science in elementary level. In relation to the institutions which inherently possessed stong religious characteristics, the integration of science learning materials with Islamic values is very crucial. Beside the goal of cognitive aspect, the learning can keep the faith values of learners as well as to increase knowledge which leads to the development of learners affective aspect early in cope with the natural environment. While the learning material for IPS (Social Sciences) is a subject that comes from the social life of the community who were selected by using social science concepts used for the sake of learning.

Abstract

Many educational institutions state that the learning process occured in the school is based on character education. However, in practice, the process did not fully meet the goal of character education. Although the learning in educational institutions has already planned several educational instrument character, but it is only as a topic of the discussion, it has not been implemented yet or the implementation has not been on  the expected education character. Elementary School Ponorogo Maarif is one of the schools that implement character education in the learning process in the last two years. The school is able to implement character education in the learning process because the students, the teachers, and the school supported the implementation. This paper aims at finding out the implementation of the nations culture and character education in elementary schools Ma’arif Ponorogo.

Abstract

Pesantren is an educational institution that cannot be separated from religious scholars as a figure of a leader. Progress or setbacks of Pesantren is determined by figure of Kyai as a central figure in the boarding school. Thus, Pesantren and Kyai have a relationship of mutual influence. Pesantren is able to develop due to figure of Kyai who can lead well. Conversely, if Pesantren did not develop, it means that Kyai cannot lead well. Abstract

The last curriculum change was in 2006 known as the School-based Curriculum (SBC). The implementation of SBC is not optimal due to various factors, including the teachers’s competence and facilities and also infrastructure are still limited , and the scoring system is still weak. Substitution successive curriculum has not been able to improve the quality of education national. The essential change in the implementation of curriculum 2013 are: learning approach using sciencetific approach, (observing, asking, trying, reasoning and making networking ). The structure of the curriculum starts from the analysis of graduate competency standards (SKL), then determine the core competencies (KI.1 , KI 2 , 3 and KI KI 4), KI 1, containing the competencies of (religious) to the sublime monotheism creator, KI 2, contains competencies about the relationship of humanity (human relationship), KI 3, contains competencies of Science (knowledge), KI 4 contains the competencies skills (skills), the implementation of learning academic subjects evolved into an integrated and thematic integrated curriculum especially in elementary school. Initially, assessment based on results in Curriculum 2013 put forward a process than the result through portofolio with authentic assessment in which the affective, cognitive and psychomotor assessed simultaneously.
