Abstract

Abstract Giving Uera Fertilizer and Goat Coop Fertilizer in Ultisol Land for green mustard plants (Brassica Juncea L) aims to determine the fertilizer treatment of goats sometimes goats to increase leaf area, root volume and fresh weight of plants. And Interaction of fertilizer application, sometimes goat fertilizer (ton/ha), and urea fertilizer on green mustard plants. This research was conducted in Sona Village with a height of 18 meters above sea level in Labuhanbatu Regency in December 2019 until March 2020. The material used was green mustard seeds, goat manure. Urea fertilizer, water Tools used are cutter blades, analytical scales, rulers, scissors, mortars, measuring flasks, buckets, calipers, neat ropes, hoes. The research will be conducted with a factorial group design. The first factor is the provision of factorial Group Design (RBD) consisting of 2 factors, the first factor is Goat Cage fertilizer (K) consisting of 3 levels and the second factor is the provision of Urea fertilizer consisting of 2 dose levels, so we get 6 treatment combinations each - 4 replications so that 24 plots were obtained. Each plot consisted of 25 plants and taken 5 plants as samples. The parameters observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), leaf area (cm2), root volume (ml), and weight of fresh plant weight (g). Data obtained from the results of the study were statistically analyzed with variance and continued with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. Results of research The treatment of fertilizer Fertilizer sometimes goat (tons/ha) with a dose of 2 tons/ha and urea fertilizer at 100 kg/ha can increase leaf area, root volume, and plant fresh weight. As well as the interaction of fertilizer application, sometimes goat fertilizer (ton/ha) and urea fertilizer have a significant influence on the parameters of leaf area, root volume, and plant fresh weight.

Abstract

Helopeltis spp is one of the major pests in cocoa plantation that caused loss of young pods and damage to branches and twigs. Farmers usually used chemical insecticide to control the pests that can cause pesticide resistance, resurgence, and secondary pest outbreak. Integrated pest management is the alternative pest control method as a long term prevention of pests with the combination of techniques. Sarungisasi (condomization) is the prevention of pests attack in cocoa pod. Community service program is the implementation of science, technology, and culture of art to the community. Partners of the community service program are Datok penghulu, farmers, and extension agent in Matang Ara Jawa District. This program was designed as a response to the problems of low cocoa pod production due to cacao sucking-pod bugs that cause young pod become rotten and fall easily. Through condomization cacao pod will suppress the pod sucking-bugs attack on cacao plantation. By the implementation of pilot programs, training, demonstration, expanding networks, and making the Matang Ara Java as an area free from Helopeltis spp. The entire process of science and technology transfer is carried out with the pattern of education, training and assistance includes: socialization, training, and asistance for Matang Ara Jawa Farmers. The output of community service program at Matang Ara Jawa District is farmer understads of cocoa pod condomization, increase cocoa pod production with good quality and quantity, increased income of farmers.

Abstract

Soil-borne soil pathogens are pathogens that inhabit the soil and can survive for years in the soil, making them very difficult to control. Control with pesticides and fungicides harms the ecosystem, so other controls are needed such as soil solarization. This study aims to determine the growth response of soil-borne pathogens and soil microbial populations to soil solarization treatment. The study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments consisting of solarization on soil media, solarization on soil and compost media, without solarization on soil media, and without solarization on soil media and compost on plastic trays. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. The soil-borne pathogens used were Sclerotium rolfsii and Rigidoporus lignisus. Each pathogen was planted in each planting medium with a depth of 5 and 10 cm. Then each tray is covered with 0.1 mm thick transparent plastic. Then given solarization treatment for four weeks. At the end of the observation, sclerotia and R. lignosus were grown on PDA media to be tested for pathogen survival and the solarization efficacy against pathogen growth was calculated. Soil samples from each treatment were also taken to calculate the soil microbial population. The results showed that soil solarization was able to suppress the growth of R. lignosus by 80-100% and S. rolfsii by 100%. Meanwhile, the microbes found in the soil solarization treatment consisted of groups of bacteria and fungi, respectively 7.67×104–1.90×107 CFU.mL-1 and 1.00×104–5.82×105 CFU.mL-1.

Abstract

Studies on endophytic bacteria has been increasing recently due to its potency to promote plant growth and induce plant tolerance to pests and diseases. The research was undergone to isolate endophytic bacteria from sugarcane followed by evaluation of their biocontrol and plant growth activities. Isolation of endophytic bacteria was based-on surface-sterilized method using alcohol 70% and 0,1% HgCl₂ on NA media. The result showed: 10 isolate endophytic bacteria had isolation were: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, B7, B8, B9, and B10. Three isolate had clear zone on petridish ≥ 20 mm in vitro testing is B9, B7, and B2. The results showed of endophytic bacteria filtrate test B2 produces alkaloid and terpenoid compounds, B7 contains saponin flavonoid, tannin and terpenoid compounds and B9 contains alkaloid, tannin and terpenoid compounds. This indicated that some of the endophytic bacteria have the potency as biocontrol agents and inducer of plant growth.
