Abstract

Obesity is a condition that occurs as a result of food consumption that far exceeds demand. Obesity in  Indonesia  continues  to  increase both  in  urban  and  rural  areas  .  Obesity can increase the risk of morbidity and mortality and causes of delay in physical function and psychological  impact  on  the  quality  hidup.Tujuan  study  is  to  examine the relationship between obesity and quality of life of adolescents . This study used a cross sectional design. The sample was all over St. Paul high school students who meet the criteria Pontianak, to get the data obesity anthropometric measurements of height and weight . Quality of life data were collected through questionnaires . Univarian data analysis using frequency distribution, bivarian using independent t test . Then from the results of the data processing can determine the  relationship  between  adolescent  obesity  on  quality  of  life  in  St.  Paul  high  school Pontianak.

Abstract

Abstract Background: There are two regions with the highest prevalence of diabetes in Indonesia; first, Ternate, a remote island in eastern Indonesia where 19.6% of suburban population suffer the diabetes, and second, there 11.1% suffer the prevalence of diabetes in West Kalimantan province. As it is known, DM has several complications and one of the most worrying is Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU), it affects to 15% of people who have DM disease. It is estimated that approximately 14.6 million people are currently diagnosed with DFU. Incidence and prevalence of type 2 diabetes may also occur due to the differences in social status. Objective: to describe social characteristics on patients type 2 diabetes mellitus with DFU. Method: Quantitative descriptive research with consecutive sampling, total sample in this study were 103 patients with type 2 diabetes who receive wound care in Clinic Kitamura Pontianak. Results: Social characteristics patients type 2 diabetes with DFU were 75,7% good social interaction, 72,8% low education, 57,3% moderate income, 84,5% no smoking, 63,1% not working and 96,1% do not consume alcohol. Conclusions: Most of patients type 2 diabetes with DFU have good social characteristics in social interaction, smoking habit and alcohol consumption but not for level of education, income and employment. Keyword: social characteristics, diabetes mellitus, diabetic foot ulcer     Abstrak Latar belakang: Terdapat dua daerah dengan prevalensi diabetes tertinggi di Indonesia, pertama adalah ternate, sebuah pulau terpencil di Indonesia bagian timur dimana 19,6% populasi masyarakat pinggiran kota menderita diabetes dan kedua sebesar 11,1% di provinsi Kalimantan Barat. Seperti diketahui bahwa DM memiliki beberapa komplikasi dan salah satu yang paling mengkhawatirkan adalah Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) yang mana berdampak pada 15% orangorang yang memiliki penyakit DM. Diperkirakan sekitar 14.6 juta orang saat ini didiagnosa dengan DFU. Insiden dan prevalensi diabetes tipe 2 juga dapat terjadi karena perbedaan status sosial. Tujuan: untuk menggambarkan karakteristik sosial pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2 dengan DFU. Metode: Penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan consecutive sampling, total sampel dalam penelitian adalah 103 pasien diabetes tipe 2 yang menjalani perawatan luka di klinik Kitamura Pontianak. Hasil: Karakteristik sosial pasien diabetes tipe 2 dengan DFU adalah 75,7% interaksi sosial baik, 72,8% pendidikan rendah, 57,3% pendapatan sedang, 84,5% tidak merokok, 63,1% tidak bekerja dan 96,1% tidak konsumsi alkohol. Kesimpulan: sebagian besar pasien diabetes tipe 2 dengan DFU memiliki karakteristik sosial yang baik dalam interaksi sosial, kebiasaan merokok dan konsumsi alkohol akan tetapi tidak untuk tingkat pendidikan, pendapatan dan pekerjaan.
