Abstract

Abstract

Cyrtodactylus marmoratus is one of the first species described by Gray in 1831 on the island of Java that believed to have a variation of morphologic characters that not yet complete to revealed. This research aimed to develop any variation characters possessed by Cyrtodactylus marmoratus. The character morphology, morphometric, and meristic follow the statement of Hartmann (2016). Data were collected in August to November in the Lab. Herpetology MZB (Museum Zoologicum Bogoriense) LIPI (The Indonesian Institute of Sciences). Variation characters possessed  by Cyrtodactylus marmoratus, there are 4 Characters Morphology: Head Morph (HM), Patern Morph on the Body (PtrM), Post Cloacal Tubercles (PCT), and second post mental (PM2); a Morphometry Characters is snout-vent Length (SVL); and 12 characters Meristic are: Precloacal Pores (PP), Precloaco-femoral Pores (PFP), Enlarged Precloaco-femoral Scales (EPFS), Ventral Scales (VS), Paravertebral Tubercles (PVT), Dorsal Tubercles (DTR), Lamella Under Toe-IV (LT4), Lamella Under Toe-V (LT5), Lamella Under Finger-III (LF3), Lamella Finger-IV (LF4), Femoral Pores Left (FPL), Femoral Pores Right (FPR).

Abstract

A study of Agamid lizards diversity and their distribution surrounding Martabe Mining project Area, South Tapanuli, North Sumatera was conducted in five different habitat types. The data were gathered by opportunistic searching in each habitat type with two replications. Shannon-Wiener index was used to determine the diversity while the homogeneity was verified by Pielou index. The similarity of Agamid communities among habitat types was confirmed by Sorensen coefficient. As a result, 9 Agamid species were recorded with Draco melanopogon as the major component of Agamid community making up 49.1% of total individuals gathered. Highest diversity occurred in moderately disturbed forest, but the most homogeny took place in riparian lowland forest. The cluster analysis using Sorensen’s coefficient of agamid species distribution among habitat types distributed the habitats into three major groups, with the most similarity occurred between primary and riparian lowland forests (75%). The identification key of the species was made.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe Habitat Characteristic of the Critically Endangered Turtle the Sulawesi ForestSulawesi Turtle Leucocephalon yuwonoi in Ganonggol and Bangkir Rivers in CentralSulawesi. The Sulawesi Forest Turtle (Leucocephalon ymonoi) is an endemic, criticallyendangered and listed in the appendix I1 of CITES. Captive breeding is needed toreintroduce the species into the original habitat. Captive breeding success includes acomprehensive knowledge on the biology and ecology of the species. The objective ofthis research is to investigate the habitat character of the turtle respectively vegetation ofthe riverbank, physical and chemical conditions ofthe water. Field surveys were conductedon the Moutong area from 1 l until 19 October 2004 and on the Bangkir area from 20until 26 October 2004. Vegetation data were obtained by developing four quadrate at theturtle habitat in each locality and were analyzed using Curtis method. The results shownthat the habitat of Leucocephalon yuwonoi is transparent streaming water, neutral, nottoo high dissolved oxygen, water height not more than 50 cm, substrat varies from bigstones, small stones, clay loam and sandy loam. The area was covered by vegetation thatcan provide food during all year round, such as Colocasia esculenta, Limnocharisflava, and Ipomoea aquatics.Key Word: Leucocephalon yuwonoi, habitat, vegetation, water conditions.
