Abstract

This research aims to study the developmentand improvement strategy of competitiveness in facing competitive of free market ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015, at SMEs in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan. Analytical method used is descriptive approaches, which is identify the various problems faced by SMEs and analyze them by using SWOT analysis and strategies formula to solve the model. The population of respondents includes all SMEs in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan. Sample method applies purposive sampling. Result of research in the form of development strategy model and improvement of competitiveness SMEs in facing is competitive globalness. Based on internal and external analysis of SMEs in Tarakan City, it can be obtained that the primary strategy is a strategy of growth in which SMEs Tarakan City strengthened the strength of SMEs which is to preserve the quality of raw materials, the legality/permit products included in the qualifications, the highly competitive price and the improvement of human resource development in SMEs in Tarakan City. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji strategi pengembangan dan peningkatan daya saing dalam menghadapi kompetitif pasar bebas ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015, pada UMKM di kota Tarakan, Kalimantan Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder.Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif, yaitu melakukan identifikasi berkaitan dengan berbagai masalah yang dihadapi oleh UMKM dan menganalisisnya dengan menggunakan analisis SWOT kemudian merumuskan model strategi untuk mengatasinya. Populasi responden meliputi seluruh UMKM yang berada di kota Tarakan, Kalimantan Utara.Metode sampel menggunakan purposive sampling.Hasil penelitian berupa model strategi pengembangan dan peningkatan daya saing UMKM dalam menghadapi kompetitif global.Kalimantan Utara.Berdasarkan analisis internal daneksternal UMKM kotaTarakan dapat diperoleh bahwa yang menjadi strategi utama adalah strategi Growth (pertumbuhan) dimana UMKM kotaTarakan memanfaatkan seluruh kekuatan UMKM yaitu mempertahankan kualitas dari bahan baku, legalitas/ijin produk yang masuk dalam kualifikasi, harga yang tetap bersaing dan melakukan peningkatan SDM di dalam UMKM di kotaTarakan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji secara empiris pengaruh karakteristik entrepreneur terhadap kinerja usaha. Karakteristik entreprenuer di proksikan dalam 2 variabel laten yaitu karakteristik pribadi dan karakteristik psikologis. Seluruh variabel dalam penelitian ini merupakan variabel laten yang diukur dengan menggunakan beberapa indikator. Data bersifat primer yang bersumber dari penyebaran kuesioner pada responden. UMKM di kota Tarakan menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini. Metode penelitian menggunakan alat analisis SEM-PLS dengan menggunakan aplikasi WarpPLS versi 6.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variabel-variabel karakteristik pribadi dan psikologis entrepreneur merupakan penentu keberhasilan kinerja UMKM. Implikasi teoritis penelitian ini mendukung teori upper echelon yang menjelaskan bahwa organisasi dan segala sesuatu yang terjadi di dalamnya adalah cerminan dari karakter pengusaha bersangkutan dan menentukan keberhasilan pencapaian kinerja.

Abstract

Koperasi sebagai badan usaha bertujuan meningkatkan kesejahteraan anggota.  Implementasi corporate governance dapat menjadi solusi bagi manajer/pengurus untuk meningkatkan kinerja koperasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji secara empiris pengaruh implementasi corporate governance terhadap pencapaian kinerja koperasi.    Implementasi corporate governance diukur dengan indikator prinsip-prinsip dasar corporate governance (transparansi, akuntabilitas, rensponsibilitas, independensi, kewajaran). Sedangkan kinerja diukur dengan indikator keaktifan koperasi, pertumbuhan jumlah anggota, volume usaha, permodalan, asset dan sisa hasil usaha. Koperasi-koperasi yang aktif di kota Tarakan menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini. Metode penelitian menggunakan alat analisis SEM-PLS dengan menggunakan aplikasi WarpPLS versi 6.0.  Hasil studi menunjukkan implementasi corporate governance berpengaruh positif terhadap kinerja koperasi. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan manajemen koperasi untuk lebih meningkatkan pemahaman dan keahlian tentang implementasi corporate governance dalam mencapai keberhasilan kinerja koperasi.

Abstract

Abstract. In this study, the relationships between ownership concentration and operational efficiency and firm value are examined.  Companies are ranked following the Environmental Performance (PROPER) and listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange as the sample in this study.  Data analysis techniques in this study using PLS-SEM with WarpPLS application version 6.0. The findings indicate that ownership concentration has a positive effect on operational efficiency and firm value.  The main findings indicate that operational efficiency mediates the effect of concentrated ownership on firm value.  The overall findings support agency theory and RBV theory.  Monitoring ownership concentration that directs managers to maximize operational efficiency can be a competitive advantage and value the higher value of the company. Dalam penelitian ini, hubungan antara kepemilikan terkonsentrasi, efisiensi operasional dan nilai perusahaan diuji.  Perusahaan-perusahaan yang mengikuti program peringkat Kinerja Lingkungan (PROPER) dan terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia sebagai sampel dalam penelitian ini. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan PLS-SEM dengan aplikasi WarpPLS versi 6.0. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa kepemilikan terkonsentrasi memiliki efek positif pada efisiensi operasional dan nilai perusahaan. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa efisiensi operasional memediasi pengaruh kepemilikan terkonsentrasi pada nilai perusahaan. Temuan keseluruhan mendukung teori agensi dan teori RBV.  Monitoring kepemilikan terkonsentrasi yang mengarahkan manajer untuk memaksimalkan efisiensi operasional dapat menjadi keunggulan kompetitif dan memberikan valuasi nilai perusahaan yang lebih tinggi.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced the world to experience a global economic crisis.   Economic decline has greatly harmed the business, including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Small and Medium Enterprises must be able to take strategic steps to maintain their business. The current research is aimed to conduct empirical test on the effect of responsive digital marketing, customer relationship management, and working capital efficiency on SMEs' efforts to maintain performance during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research sample was 57 respondents who represent SMEs of Processed Food. The data analysis technique used SEM-PLS.  Result of research has shown that responsive digital marketing has been proved as helpful to SMEs in maintaining their sale performance during covid-19 pandemic. Besides this result, other finding has shown that main key to maintain customers and sale performance in sustainable manner during covid-19 pandemic is by improving customer satisfaction and building long term relationship with customers. Other finding has indicated that aggressive working capital management will facilitate SMEs to maintain their performance during covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

One important contribution of Small-and-Medium Enterprises (or SMEs) to the economic development is the absorption of workers. Absorbing more workers and reducing unemployment are achievable only if SMEs have been success in managing the sustainability of their business. The success of SMEs’ business is determined by few variables, which are to be examined in this research. Therefore, research is aimed to conduct empirical test over the effect of entrepreneur characteristic and financial literacy on business performance. Type of data is primary, which is acquired through distribution of questionnaire to respondents. Research sample includes Small-and-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Tarakan City. Analysis technique is Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). Result of research showed that personal characteristic, psychological characteristic, entrepreneur competency, and financial literacy are determinants to SMEs’ performance. Theoretical implication of this research is that research findings are supporting upper echelon theory and RBV theory when both theories explain factors that determine performance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of managerial ownership, independent board of commissioners, board of directors, and audit committee on financial distress in banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2015 to 2019. This research used the purposive sampling method with a sample of 41 companies consisting of 205 observational data. Data were analyzed using logistic regression. The results showed that independent board of commissioners and board of directors had a significant and negative effect on financial distress. However, managerial ownership and audit committee did not have a significant effect on financial distress. This study supports the agency theory, which states that the monitoring role of the independent board of commissioners and the board of directors can minimize the occurrence of agency conflicts in a company. Abstract

Various researches have been conducted towards the dynamics of micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) developments, but there are still research gaps that can be explored further. The purpose of this research is to examine the determinant factors of MSME performance as seen from the entrepreneurial dimension and the financial activities done by entrepreneurs. The research objects of this study are two batik MSME centers in Central Java Province, which are Rembang Regency and Surakarta municipality. The research model was tested by using PLS-SEM with WarpPLS version 6.0. The research findings revealed there is a positive influence between the dimensions of entrepreneurship and outside finance, entrepreneurial dimension and MSME performance, outside finance, and MSME performance, as well as innovation investment and MSME performance. Another research finding found that the entrepreneurial dimension, which consists of entrepreneurial emotion and entrepreneurial cognition, does not have a positive influence on MSME performance. Meanwhile, outside finance has a negative influence on innovation investment. This research proposes a future research agenda to add other variables that are suspected of influencing MSME performance, whether from a financial or a non-financial aspect, such as financial literacy and the application of digital marketing.JEL Classification: A10, D19, G40DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/jkdp.v23i2.3076

Abstract

This study aims to examine empirically the effect of financial literacy on business performance. All variables in this study are latent variables that are measured using several indicators. Primary data is derived from the distribution of questionnaires to respondents. The SMEs in the city of Tarakan were sampled in this study. The research method uses the Regression analysis tool using the SPSS application. The results of the study show that financial literacy variables determine the performance of SMEs. The theoretical implications of this study support the RBV theory which explains that the ability to obtain a sustainable competitive advantage is a determining factor for performance. The practical implications of this study suggest that entrepreneurs must be able to understand and improve financial literacy skills to achieve good business performance. Implikasi praktis penelitian ini menyarankan bahwa seseorang entrepreneur harus dapat memahami dan meningkatkan kemampuan literasi keuangan untuk mencapai kinerja usaha yang baik. Abstract

Entrepreneurial success is determined by the competencies of an entrepreneur and will directly affect the success of business performance. This study aims to examine empirically the influence of entrepreneurial competencies on business performance. Entrepreneurship competency is measured by 15 indicators (Ability to control risk, autonomy, Search for and analyze information, Communication, Dynamic, Build social networks, Change management, Initiatives, Innovation, Integrity, Leadership, Results-oriented, Negotiation, Problem solving and Responsibility ) While Business Performance is measured by 5 indicators (profit growth, sales growth, capital growth, efficiency and customer growth). The sample in this study was MSMEs in the city of Tarakan using a sample probability area sample method based on the sub -district area. The data analysis technique uses the PLS-SEM method with the WarpPls 6.0 application. The results of the study show that entrepreneurial competence has a positive impact on business performance. This study supports the RBV theory which states that a company's competitive advantage is generated from its unique resources.
