Abstract

ABSTRACTTherapy failure of breast cancer as a consequence of cell resistention has encouraged the effort to develop a cancer medicine including herbal medicine. Based on some research, it can be concluded that there is antioxydant and anticancer activity from beetroot involved with betasianin and betasantin substance that belong to flavonoid compound. The purpose of this research was to find the effect cytotoxic of methanolic extract of beetroot (Beta vulgaris L. var. rubra L.) on cell line T47D which was a breast cancer cell.This research was conducted on several experiment step namely plant determination, cell preparation, cell harvest, methanolic extraction, and cytotoxic test. The extraction of beetroot is conducted by maceration method using methanol 70 %. Cytotoxic test on cell line T47D is conducted by MTT assay using five concentration ceries were 500, 250, 125, 62,5 and 31,25 ug/ml. Data analysis uses probit analysis.Research result shows that methanolic extract of beetroot there was no cytotoxic activity on cell line T47D. It shows that five consentration series methanolic extraction of beetroot have % cell viability more than 100%.Keyword: Beetroot, Beta vulgaris L. var. rubra L, Cell line T47D, Cytotoxic, Flavonoid.

Abstract

ABSTRACTHaloperidol and chlorpromazine antipsycotic were used for broad and so long time. That drugs used could shown undesire side effect. Objective of this study was to investigate haloperidol and chlorpromazine side effect, especially was to know relative risk (RR) of extrapiramidal and hypotension orthostatic side effects of haloperidol and chlorpromazine antipsycotic used in Dr. Aminogondohutomo Mental Hospital durimg 2005. Non experimental, retrospective and Case Control study design was done. Population of this study was patient ward in Dr. Aminogondohutomo Mental Hospital durimg 2005. Data was taken retrospectively from medical record. Analytical of data used Chi Kuadrat and Odds Ratio (OR) was to know relative risk (RR) of extrapiramidal and hypotension orthostatic side effects of haloperidol and chlorpromazine antipsycotic used. The results showed there were 27,17% extrapiramidal side effects of haloperidol used and 15,24 % hypotension orthostatic side effects of chlorpromazine used. That were the first rank of side effect in every that antipsycotic.The value of relative risk (RR) of extrapiramidal side effects of haloperidol used was 5 and 3 for hypotension orthostatic side effects of chlorpromazine used. That meaned patient who used haloperidol could 5 more time got extrapiramidal side effects than haloperidol unused and patient who used chlorpromazine could 3 more time got hypotension orthostatic side effects than chlorpromazine unused. Abstract

ABSTRACTDrug formularium is a method used by hospital medical staff to evaluate and choose a drug for patient treatments from various available drug trade name preparations within hospital. Objective of this study was to evaluate prescription compliance on drug cards of Kutilang in-patients ward towards Dr Kariadi Hospital Formularium during 2007. Non experimental, retrospective and non analytical observational study design was done. Sample collected by a proportional stratified random sampling from Kutilang in-patient drug card during 2007. Data were compared to Dr Kariadi Hospital Formularium. When prescription of drugs trade name different with formularium but generic name available, it was considered as non-formularium A and non-formularium B if either trade name or generic name drugs were not present. The results showed there were 56.1% female patients and 43.9% male patient hospitalized in Kutilang ward during 2007, in which 30.4% was belong to Internal medicine patients. Total number of drugs used were 613 items consist of 46.8% generic drugs and 53.2% trade name (patent) drugs. Overall agreement of drug used to the formularium was 77.7%. The rank of drug prescription agreement were as follows, anesthesiologist and psychiatry both were 100% agree to formularium, cardiologist was 14.8% agree to non-formularium A and dermato-venerologist was 40.9% belong to non-formularium B. The higest rank of prescription based on treatment classes were immunosuppressant (92.9%) among formularium, anti diabetics (32.2%) among non-formularium A and ENT drugs (83.3%) among non-formularium B. Abstract

ABSTRACT Soursop leaves ethanol extract (SLEE) has been shown to lower blood levels of total cholesterol. However, it not yet investigated the effects on triglyceride and HDL levels. There is also no research on combining related soursop leaves with gemfibrozil. The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of combination therapy SLEE and gemfibrozil to SLEE or gemfibrozil single treatment on decreasing triglyceride levels and increase HDL level in rats induced by high-fat feeding. Thirty male Wistar rats were divided into six groups (normal control, hyperlipidemia control, single gemfibrozil, single SLEE, 1st combination, and 2nd combination groups). Each group treated a high-fat feed two times a day for 14 days, except for the normal control. The test material was treated one time a day for five days. Measurement levels of triglycerides and HDL used GPO-PAP reagent and Direct Enzymatic Colorimetric Test. The data was analyzed by One-Way ANOVA test followed by Tukey's test. The results showed that SLEE can decrease triglyceride’s level and increase HDL levels of male Wistar rats. The combination of SLEE and gemfibrozil also can decrease triglyceride’s level and increase HDL level. However, there are no significances different between the efficacy of combination SLEE and gemfibrozil than SLEE or gemfibrozil single treatment in decreasing triglyceride's level and increase HDL levels of male Wistar rats. Abstract

ABSTRACT Soursop leaves can be used as a drug hypercholesterolemia. Simvastatin is one of the drugs that can be used to lower total cholesterol and LDL. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of combination therapy EEDS and simvastatin in inhibiting elevated levels of total cholesterol and LDL induced rats a high-fat feed when compared with simvastatin alone or single EEDS. This study is experimental with post-test only control group design. Using the test animals were 30 male rats Wistar strain were divided into 6 groups. Test animals fed a high-fat twice daily for 14 days except for the normal control group, the test preparation administration once a day for 5 days. Measurement of total cholesterol using  the reagent kit CHOD-PAP and LDL measurement method  Direct Enzymatic Colorimetric Test with a spectrophotometer UV-Visibel. Data were statistically analyzed by One Way Anova followed by Tukey test. The results showed that administration of EEDS can inhibit LDL levels induced rats a high-fat feed. eeds combination and simvastatin can inhibit the increase in total and LDL cholesterol levels did not differ significan (p> 0.05), which means it has the same ability in lowering total cholesterol and LDL induced rats a high-fat feed simvastatin compared with administration of single and single EEDS. Abstract

ABSTRACT Empirical experience-based, Lenglengan (Leucas lavandulifolia Smith) leaves have a special antidiabetic effect. This research aimed to determine the hypoglycemic effect of ethanolic extract of Lenglengan leaves in glucose induced rats. The research was conducted by dividing the experiment animals into five groups, each group had 6 rats. Three groups were given with ethanolic extract of Lenglengan leaves with 63, 126, and 252 mg/kgBB doses. One group served as the positive control were given Metformin at 189 mg/kgBB dose and the negative control were given CMC-Na 0,5%. Thirty minutes after the experiment, the animals were given D-glukosa monohydrate peroral with 2 g/kgBB dose. The measurement of the blood glucose was conducted by taking the blood at 0, 30, 60, 120, 180, 240 and 300 minutes. The blood glucose rate was measured enzymatically using GOD-PAP reagent. The evaluation on the hypoglicemic effect was done to AUC0-300 relationship curve value between blood glucose to sampling time 0-300 minute and hypoglycemic activity percentages. The statistical analysis to data AUC was done with Kruskal-Wallis test, continued with Mann-Whitney test. The result showed that the ethanolyc extract of Lenglengan leaves at 63, 126, and 252 mg/kgBB doses could decrease the blood glucose on rats glucose induced and was proven statistically to indicate high significance in comparison to the negative control (p < 0,05). The hypoglycemic activity percentage from the ethanolic extract of lenglengan leaves at 252 mg/kgBB dose was of 45,89%, where as metformin 189 mg/kgBB doses it was of 44,86%. Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara organoleptik silase hijauan yang menggunakan fermentor dan tanpa menggunakan fermentor. Materi yang digunakan adalah hijauan gama umami, polar, mikroba fermentor, tetes tebu, coper, dan drum silo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode percobaan dengan uji organoleptik / uji indra meliputi tekstur, warna, aroma dan pengukuran pH dilakukan dengan menggunakan kertas lakmus dengan 2 perlakuan silase yang berbeda. Didapatkan  hasil bahwa perlakuan 1 yaitu silase yang tidak ditambahkan fermentor memiliki nilai tekstur = 5 (kurang lembut), warna = 5 (hijau kekuningan muda), aroma = 5 (kurang wangi dan bau rumput  masih dominan), dan pH di angka 6 sedangkan pada perlakuan 2 silase yang ditambahkan fermentor memiliki nilai, tekstur = 10 (lembut), warna = 10 (kuning  kecoklatan),  aroma  = 10  (wangi),  dan  pH  di  angka  4  (lebih  asam  dari  perlakuan  1). Hasil  penelitian   menunjukkan bahwa silase pada perlakuan satu dan dua dari segi warna kualitasnya sama sama sedang, dari segi aroma sama sama memiliki kualitas baik sekali, untuk tekstur kualitasnya sama sama baik sekali, dan untuk pH nya unggul di perlakuan satu dengan kualitas baik sekali dan pada perlakuan dua kualitasnya jelek. Disimpulkan bahwa silase yang ditambahkan fermentor hasilnya lebih baik. Kata Kunci: kualitas silase, hijauan, fermentor.

Abstract

Yogurt is a type of beverage classified as a refreshment drink which is produced through a fermentation process that uses Lactic Acid Bacteria. Most legumes have been widely used as raw materials in the making of a milk known as vegetable milk. Legume milk contains amino acids that are almost equivalent to the amino acid content of animal milk so it can be used as a base substitute material for fermented animal milk. Processed green bean milk yogurt is a form of food diversification. Skim milk is a lowfat milk added in the production of green bean milk yogurt, and yogurt starter is an important factor in the process of yogurt making. The purpose of the study is to determine the effects of the addition of yogurt starter and skim milk on the quality of green bean milk. The research design is 2-Factor Factorial Design arranged with Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Factor I consists of 2 levels, namely 12 grams of skim milk and 15 grams of skim milk; factor II consists of 3 levels, namely 15 ml, 20 ml, and 25 ml of starters. Observation variables consist of pH, total acid, viscosity, protein content, lactic acid bacteria, organoleptic aroma test, organoleptic texture test, and organoleptic taste test. From the results of this study, the highest results obtained in the treatment consist of: a) 12 grams of skim milk and 25 ml of 8.13%,Total Acid, Organoleptic Aroma Test 4.57, Organoleptic Texture Test 4.73; b) 15 grams of skim milk and 25 ml of starter of pH 4.17, Viscosity 8.67 cP, protein content 0.94%, Lactic Acid Bacteria 2933.33 x 103 CFU / mL, Organoleptic Aroma Test 4.57, Organoleptic Texture Test 4.61, Organoleptic Taste Test 5.02.

Abstract

Jelly candy is a soft-textured processed food, clear appearance, transparent, elastic with certain elasticity with the addition of a thickening agent such as pectin and others. Pectin is a good gelling agent and stabilizer in jelly candies with low pH conditions. Dragon fruit skin is one of the fruit peels which has a high pectin content of 10.79%. Dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus polyrhizus) extraction as an alternative in obtaining commercial pectin. The addition of sugar serves as a preservative, inhibits the growth of microorganisms, decreases the activity of food water. The purpose of this study was to determine the addition of dragon fruit peel pectin and sugar to the quality of jelly candy.The study used factorial designs arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors: factor I pectin concentration consisting of 3 levels (1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%) and factor II sugar concentration consisting of 3 levels namely (40%, 50%, 60%). The method was analyzed by Homogeneity test in IBM SPSS version 24 and further tests (Tukey test). The selected treatment on the addition of 2.0% dragon fruit peel pectin and 60% sugar influences the quality of jelly candy which has a moisture content of 42.812%, reducing sugar 4.900%, vitamin C 0.220%, color (L = 55,500%, a * = 15,333 %, b * = 1.800%), texture 0.025% N / mm2. Organoleptic results for panelists' preferences were jelly candy color 4,433%, jelly candy texture 4.555% and jelly candy taste 4.522%. Abstract

Polifenol memiliki manfaat sebagai salah satu antioksidan serta obat herbal. Daun ubi jalar merupakan salah satu sumber polifenol yang mudah untuk didapatkan karena sering tidak dimanfaatkan setelah panen. Pada proses metabolisme senyawa polifenol dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor dan tingkat pertumbuhan daun. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh varietas dari daun ubi jalar terhadap konsentrasi senyawa polifenol dan aktivitas antioksidannya. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 2 faktor dan 2 ulangan. Faktor pertama dengan empat tingkat berbagai ubi jalar yaitu MSU 03028-10 (Calon Varietas), RIS 03063-05 (Calon Varietas), BB 97256-9 (Sawentar) dan MSU 99051-1 (Solossa Papua) dan faktor kedua dengan empat tingkat perkembangan daun adalah perkembangan 1 sampai 4, 5 sampai 8, 9 sampai 12 dan 13 sampai 16 yang dihitung dari pucuk daun. Untuk mengetahui dampak perlakuan dilakukan analisis ragam dan menggunakan tabel F 1% dan 5% untuk perbandingan uji F. Kemudian dilakukan uji lanjut Tukey. Analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa variasi dan pengembangan daun ubi jalar polifenol yang sangat signifikan pada 1% untuk tingkat nyata konsentrasi polifenol dan aktivitas antioksidan. Perlakuandianjurkan untuk dilakukan sehingga mendapatkan polifenol konsentrasi yang lebih tinggi dan aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi adalah perlakuan dengan varietas RIS 03063-05 (Calon Varietas) dan perkembangan daun 1 sampai 4 yang memiliki polifenol konsentrasi pada 4,0947 mg / g bahan kering dan aktivitas antioksidan 67,1875%.Kata Kunci: Polifenol, Antioksidan, Daun Ubi Jalar
