Abstract

Diarrhoea is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children worldwide, including in Indonesia. The magnitude of the problem can be seen from the high rate of pain and death due to diarrhea. The study aims to determine mothers' knowledge and attitudes about treating diarrhea in children. Experimental quantitative research with a descriptive approach. The results showed that the level of knowledge was less than 25 people (62.5%), and the negative attitude category was 29 people (72.5%). It can be concluded that they suffer from diarrhea, while parents with good knowledge regarding managing diarrhea tend to have their children not suffer from diarrhea. Recommendations are expected to provide information for local health offices and puskesmas in overcoming diarrhea problems; this is valuable information to carry out programs to improve public health, especially diseases in children.

Abstract

Therapeutic communication is one of the important components of nursing practice in the treatment room. It involves the exchange of information, empathy, and support between nurses and patients. The study aims to determine the implementation of nurse-therapeutic communication in the inpatient room. Quantitative research design with descriptive survey approach. The result is that the implementation of nurse therapeutic communication in the pre-orientation, orientation, work, and termination phases is carried out partially. It can be concluded that the implementation of nurse therapeutic communication in the pre-orientation phase, orientation phase, work phase, and termination phase is carried out partially. The influence of communication dynamics in the application of therapeutic communication shows that nurses carrying out therapeutic communication in the pre-orientation phase are only partially carried out

Abstract

Nutritional status in children under five is an essential indicator of a child's health and development. Good nutrition at this age is crucial because children are experiencing rapid growth and development during this period. This study aims to determine the factors related to nutritional status in children under five—a type of quantitative research with a cross-sectional study design. The number of samples used in this study was 43 toddlers using purposive sampling techniques. The results of statistical tests obtained a value of 0.038 for maternal age, 0.405 for occupation, and 0.600 for knowledge of maternal nutrition. It can be concluded that there is no relationship between nutritional status in children under five and maternal age, occupation, or knowledge. The nutritional status of children under five is an important issue that is influenced by several factors, including the mother's age, the mother's occupation, and the mother's knowledge of child nutrition. The mother's age can affect the success of breastfeeding practices and nutritional knowledge. The mother's work plays a role in family time and resource availability. The mother's knowledge of child nutrition influences food selection and feeding practices. Handling the nutritional problems of children under five requires a holistic approach that involves all relevant parties, including the government, health institutions, and the community

Abstract

Introduction: Exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of a baby's life has been shown to have many health benefits, and one of them is that it can help prevent stunting in toddlers. Stunting is when a child's physical growth and brain development are hampered due to chronic malnutrition, especially protein, energy, and other essential nutrients. Objective: Know the role of exclusive breastfeeding in preventing stunting in toddlers. Methods: Type of quantitative analytical research with a case-control design using a retrospective approach. The population in this study was mothers who had toddlers aged 12–60 months, while the determination of subjects was based on simple random sampling techniques. The inclusion criteria were mothers with stunting toddlers aged 12–60 months and mothers willing to be respondents. The exclusion criteria are toddlers who suffer from chronic diseases and have a history of premature birth. The subjects in this study were 70 toddlers, consisting of 35 stunting toddlers as an intervention group and 35 non-stunting toddlers as controls. Results showed that toddlers who were exclusively breastfed and stunted were 15 (42.9%), while toddlers who were not exclusively breastfed and stunted were 20 (57.1%). Bivariate analysis showed an association between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting (p-value 0.030). Conclusion: Exclusive breastfeeding can prevent stunting in toddlers. Exclusive breastfeeding can make a significant contribution to stunting prevention; other factors such as public health, sanitation, and access to nutrition also play an important role. Therefore, a holistic approach must be applied to support children's growth and development

Abstract

Introduction Preschoolers are a group that is vulnerable to malnutrition. Inadequate nutritional conditions at this stage of development can seriously impact their growth, development, and long-term health. Therefore, proper handling and appropriate dietary strategies are essential to improving the nutritional status of preschoolers. Objective presents an overview of diets that can improve nutritional status in preschoolers. Methods: This type of research is a quantitative cross-sectional study approach. The population in this study was preschool-age children (3-6 years) found in Kanita Tiara Islamic Kindergarten, which amounted to 78 children obtained by totality or using the whole sampling method. Collection of information using food frequency questionnaires and mechanical measurements. Results show that p = 0.015 < p = 0.05, meaning a relationship exists between diet and nutritional status in preschool-aged children. Conclusion: Diet affects nutritional status in preschool-aged children. Dietary strategies applied to preschoolers should pay attention to their nutritional needs and environmental factors that affect their diet. With a holistic and sustainable approach, it can be expected that the nutritional status of preschoolers can be improved, providing a solid foundation for their optimal health and development.

Abstract

Introduction: Gout is caused by the accumulation of uric acid in the body's joints. When there is excess uric acid in the bloodstream and more than can be excreted, the uric acid seeps into the joint tissue, causing pain and swelling. Pain is the most frequent symptom of Gout. The triggering factor that can cause gout is excessive consumption of foods that contain purines. One of the signs and symptoms that people with gout arthritis can feel is pain in the joints, such as in the big toe, wrist joint, foot joint, knee joint, and elbow joint. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of warm water compresses to reduce gout pain. Methods: A qualitative study with a case study approach focused on the effectiveness of warm compresses to reduce gout pain was conducted in 2 patients. Results showed a decreased pain scale after being given warm water compress therapy in patients with gout or gout arthritis. When the results were obtained before the warm water compress therapy, Respondent One experienced a pain scale of 6 and Respondent 2 had a pain scale of 5 after being given warm water compress therapy; the pain scale felt by Respondent 1 was on the pain scale four and respondent two on the pain scale 3. Conclusions: Providing warm water compress therapy to respondents with gout pain or Gout Arthritis reduces the pain scale because warm water compresses are performed. It is hoped that it will be a source of information for the community in dealing with gout pain. In addition, it can also increase the community's insight into maintaining lifestyles, such as diet and the environment, to maintain body health and develop knowledge and skills in providing good nursing care, especially in homecare activities.
