Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria that can cause death. One of the risk factors for TB is ventilation and lighting in homes that are not in accordance with health requirements. Data from Puskesmas Tapung II in 2022 amounted to 32 people and it was known that 29.43% of houses were not included in the category of healthy homes. This study aims to determine several factors associated with the incidence of pulmonary TB in the Tapung II Puskesmas working area. This type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The research was conducted in April 2023 in the Tapung II Health Center working area. The research sample amounted to 33 respondents who were taken using the total sampling technique. Data collection tools using a research questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate. The results showed that there was a relationship between house ventilation (p value 0.013) and house lighting (p value 0.005) with the incidence of pulmonary TB. This study recommends patients with pulmonary TB to maintain the cleanliness of the home environment and arrange home ventilation properly so that sunlight and fresh air can enter the house, maintain behavior not to spit or dispose of phlegm carelessly and cover the mouth with a tissue / cloth when coughing or sneezing to prevent transmission to others. Keywords: Tuberculosis, Lighting, Ventilation.

The sample amounted to 44 cases and 44 controls. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. Data analysis was done univariate and bivariate. The results showed that there was a relationship between contact history (p value: 0.017) and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. It is recommended that health center staff should increase direct visits to the homes of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis to see firsthand the condition of the physical environment of the house and to find out whether there is a possibility that the patient's family is infected so that preventive measures can be taken. For this reason, recording the patient's address in the register book must be clear and complete to facilitate home visits. Keywords: Environment, Contact History, Tuberculosis.

Abstract

Diarrhea is one of the common public health issues, especially in areas with poor sanitation and unhealthy lifestyles. Preventive efforts against diarrhea involve not only medical interventions but also the importance of education on PHBS (Clean and Healthy Living Behavior). This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of increasing knowledge about PHBS in preventing diarrhea. The research method used is experimental with a pre-test and post-test control group design. The subjects consist of two groups: the intervention group receiving PHBS education and the control group without education. Data collection was done through knowledge questionnaires before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge about PHBS in the intervention group after receiving education, compared to the control group. This indicates that PHBS education is effective in improving the knowledge and understanding of the community in preventing diarrhea. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the importance of PHBS education in preventing diarrhea in the community. Structured and comprehensive education programs can be an effective strategy to reduce the incidence of diarrhea and improve public health overall.

Abstract

Nutritional status in children under five is an essential indicator of a child's health and development. Good nutrition at this age is crucial because children are experiencing rapid growth and development during this period. This study aims to determine the factors related to nutritional status in children under five—a type of quantitative research with a cross-sectional study design. The number of samples used in this study was 43 toddlers using purposive sampling techniques. The results of statistical tests obtained a value of 0.038 for maternal age, 0.405 for occupation, and 0.600 for knowledge of maternal nutrition. It can be concluded that there is no relationship between nutritional status in children under five and maternal age, occupation, or knowledge. The nutritional status of children under five is an important issue that is influenced by several factors, including the mother's age, the mother's occupation, and the mother's knowledge of child nutrition. The mother's age can affect the success of breastfeeding practices and nutritional knowledge. The mother's work plays a role in family time and resource availability. The mother's knowledge of child nutrition influences food selection and feeding practices.
