Abstract

Background. During pandemic Covid-19, the online delivery and ordering system in the household food industry is an alternative for fulfilling the consumer’s food requirement without leaving their house. Further, the household food industry also works as a national economic trigger. However, concern about food safety, virus transmission, and halal-food status is still challenging with the low number of the household food industry that has been registered and has a halal certificate.Objectives. This study aimed to understand the perceptions of the stakeholder of the online selling system of the household food industry the pandemic of Covid-19 due to: 1) Risk of product’s safety and Halal status 2) Economic opportunity 3) Management system to minimize risk and optimize the opportunity. Method. The research was a descriptive qualitative study conducted through an online interview held in January-February 2021. Respondents are the household food industry’s producers in DIY, conducting commercial household food production during the pandemic, doing online selling, and did not have an offline store. The subjects were recruited using the purposive sampling method. Data triangulation was applied using a deep interview with consumers, food safety, and halal food expert.Results. The household food industry during pandemic brings a positive effect on the household's economic strengthening and entrepreneur opportunity. Food safety and halal food issues arise from a lack of knowledge of the producer, resource limitation, and uncertified products. These risks could be minimized through sustainable collaboration between producers, consumers, and the government for actualizing halal and safe food production.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country in Southeast Asia which dominated by Muslim population. This condition brings halal products to have a very large market share potential, especially food and cosmetic products. A large number of Muslim consumers in Indonesia raises new challenges with the high public interest in Korean food and cosmetics products, which some types of products do not have a halal label. Because Korea is not a Muslim country, most of the imported products are not halal. That condition could be marked as the importance of awareness towards imported products that have non-halal status risk. Furthermore, due to the research limitation of Indonesian teenagers’ perspective about halal status, we need to provide more certain information about halal status. The method for this study uses a literature review by searching for a literature database obtained from the Google Scholar search engine with inclusion criteria such as articles in English or Indonesian, published between 2011-2021, accessible in full text, and articles discussing the halal status of Korean products and adolescent perspective. Indonesia, especially Muslim teenagers towards Korean cosmetic and food products. The results show that Indonesian teenagers’ huge interest in Korean products, the product’s halal status is one of the factors that affect teenagers' intention to buy Korean food and cosmetics and it works as a key factor/their priority in purchasing products. Teenagers are concerned about the halal status of Korean food and this aspect becomes a priority when buying Korean food. The conclusion of this study is that the halal status of Korean food and cosmetic products has an effect on consumer buying interest.

Abstract

The increase in the elderly brings consequences, including a higher risk of disease. Inappropriate nutritional intake is also known as one of the risk factors related to the elderly's non-communicable diseases, and nutritional intervention is essential to improve the elderly nutritional status and quality of life. It was an interventional study with a before-after one-group approach. The study was conducted for three months (October-December 2021) in three social retirement homes. The intervention given was supplementation with additional protein sources and snacks each day. The biochemistry profiles were taken 2 times: before and after three months of intervention, comprised of HbA1c, lipid, transferrin, creatinine, and blood pressure level. The data will be analyzed for its normality before being processed with paired t-test or Wilcoxon signed rank based on the normality results. The analysis results show that there are significantly lower transferrin levels (p=0.040), an increase in cholesterol level (p=0.000), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) level increased from 114.05±32.03 to 125.94±31.41 (p=0.000). There is also a remarkable decrease in hemoglobin (p=0.005) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. Conversely, there are an increase in HbA1C (p=0.007) and triglyceride level (p=0.005). There is no significant difference in creatinine level. We conclude that nutrition interventions have a significant effect on elderly blood profiles. However, to achieve an improvement, the study should consider physical activity and other variables that might be altering the results.

Abstract

Besides the benefits of breastfeeding, the number of children exclusively breastfed was still low. The mother's breastfeeding decision might be influenced by breastfeeding support and preparation. The decision also might influence the mother's satisfaction and the child's well-being. Thus, to minimize the adverse effect of the decision, it is essential to identify the factors associated with mother satisfaction on their breastfeeding status. This study aimed to understand the correlation between breastfeeding support and preparation on mother's satisfaction with the infant's breastfeeding status. This study was a cross-sectional, observational study held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The inclusion criteria were the mother of a baby aged 6 to 24 months who lived in Yogyakarta City and was willing to join the research. A total of 150 respondents, mostly aged 19-40 years, joined the study. Spouse support is most influential on breastfeeding (BF) status. Mother's satisfaction with infant feeding choices was influenced by BF status, husband's support, and healthcare support. Husband support is essential for the mother to achieve exclusive breastfeeding and meet maternal satisfaction. Appropriate healthcare personnel support positively impacts maternal satisfaction by providing information and encouraging mothers to make informed infant feeding decision-making.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Human milk donor (HMD) works as temporary support before the mother could breastfeed independently and meet the exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) status on their own. However, caregivers commonly use bottle feeding to give breast milk substitutes for the baby. although it might increase the risk of nipple confusion and disturb the breastfeeding (BF) process. Objectives: this research aimed to explore the relationship between HMD, bottle-feeding, and the BF status of the mother of infants aged 0-6 months in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY). Methods: This is a cross-sectional research using online questionnaires with the link available in social media for four months (December 2020-March 2021), with a total participant number of 123. Data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and chi-square test. Results: There was no significant correlation between HMD-recipient status and EBF (p=0.080). However, it has a significant relationship with prolonged BF insufficiency (p=0.000; RR=3.214; CI=1.020-4.082). The bottle-feeding utilization was signified as a risk factor for both non-EBF (p=0.020; RR=2.524; CI=1.090-5.844) and prolonged BF insufficiency (p=0.021; RR=2.103; CI=1.073-4.123). Conclusion An approach to use appropriate feeding media through lactation support for the mothers is essential, particularly in HMD practices.
