Abstract

Frambusia, also known as yaws, patek, pian, buba, or ambalo, is a tropical disease categorized as a Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD). The diagnosis of frambusia is established through clinical examination and serological testing. Occasionally, there are cases of frambusia that lack clear clinical lesions, leading to undiagnosed instances. The disease is primarily attributed to unhygienic living conditions, and if left untreated, it can result in various complications in the future. TPHA-RDT testing can be employed for early frambusia detection. Educational activities and disease screening involve 12 pediatric respondents. Frambusia is commonly observed among children aged two to fifteen years, with transmission occurring during play and interaction with peers of the same age group. Therefore, effective preventive measures, such as frambusia screening, need to be implemented. Societal awareness campaigns contribute to enhancing public knowledge of frambusia and educating individuals about effective preventive actions. With an improved understanding of this disease, it is expected that individuals will take necessary preventive steps, such as seeking healthcare when frambusia symptoms or signs arise. Thus, accurate knowledge of frambusia serves as a foundation for adopting effective preventive behaviors and safeguarding the overall health of both individuals and communities.

Abstract

Facial analysis plays an important role in early identification of medical conditions through skin changes. Face Analyzer technology offers accurate detection of skin health parameters such as elasticity, hydration, texture and signs of aging. This service activity was carried out at Kalam Kudus High School involving 68 men and women of productive age (18-64 years). Skin measurements using the Skin Analyzer include parameters for pores, spots, wrinkles and roughness. The majority of respondents were aged 18-35 years (52.9%), followed by those aged 36-50 years (27.9%) and 51-64 years (19.1%), with 61.8% female. Data show significant variations in skin parameters based on age, with increased wrinkles and skin roughness at older ages. The results show the importance of early detection and intervention to maintain healthy skin. Regular monitoring and education using advanced technology such as the Face Analyzer can increase awareness and prevention of skin problems. The use of Face Analyzer technology and comprehensive skin health education is very important to improve the skin health of individuals of productive age, prevent skin problems, and improve quality of life.

Abstract

Body composition, which consists of the proportion of fat, bone, water and muscle, is very important for adolescent health. Adolescence is characterized by significant changes in body composition that are influenced by genetics, hormones, physical activity, and nutrition. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), a non-invasive and cost-effective method, is widely used to assess body composition, including fat mass and fat-free mass. Excess body fat in adolescence is associated with cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. This activity uses the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) methodology, which involves the facial skin analysis of 163 participants. According to the examination results, the average total body fat, total subcutaneous fat, visceral fat, and total muscle mass were 24.9%, 21%, 2.5%, and 27.5%, respectively. Early assessment and intervention are essential to prevent health complications. Promoting healthy lifestyles and regularly monitoring body composition can improve adolescent health and prevent future obesity-related morbidity and mortality.

Abstract

Sarcopenia is a medical condition characterized by a progressive decrease in skeletal muscle mass as well as muscle strength. Sarcopenia in the elderly causes an increased risk of falls, fractures and mortality. The main risk factors include advanced age, lack of physical activity, malnutrition, and chronic disease. Deficiency of albumin, a protein important for maintaining osmotic pressure and nutritional status, is often associated with malnutrition and sarkopenia. This community service activity was attended by 93 elderly people with an average age of 74 years. The results showed that the majority of participants had normal albumin levels, but there was a significant proportion who experienced hypoalbuminemia, more commonly found in men than women. Education and screening are carried out to increase awareness regarding the importance of albumin intake in preventing sarkopenia. A holistic and integrated nutritional approach is needed in the management of sarcopenia. Appropriate nutritional interventions, including increasing protein intake from foods such as snakehead fish, can increase serum albumin levels and prevent muscle mass loss. Collaboration between nutritionists, physicians, and other health professionals is essential to designing and implementing a comprehensive treatment plan. It is hoped that with appropriate monitoring and treatment, the quality of life of elderly people with sarkopenia can be improved. Keywords: albumin, education, hypoalbuminemia, elderly, sarcopenia

Abstract

Anaemia is a common medical condition characterised by a lack of red blood cells or a decrease in haemoglobin levels below normal, which is important for the distribution of oxygen in the body. This disorder has a significant impact on global health, especially in the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic diseases. Anaemia in women of reproductive age poses a severe health challenge, causing more than 115,000 maternal deaths each year. This activity uses the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) method to screen for anaemia by measuring haemoglobin and hematocrit levels in the productive age population at PT. Narindo, North Jakarta. The examination results showed that 38 people (28.57%) men and 5 people (3.97%) women had anemia. Routine screening, especially in high-risk populations, is critical for early identification and timely intervention, thereby reducing complications and health care costs. Efficient management through nutritional and pharmacological interventions can improve the quality of life and productivity of individuals suffering from anemia, thereby reducing the wider socio-economic impact.

Abstract

Fecal incontinence is a common problem faced by adults, which can cause psychosocial distress. Many risk factors, including patient’s comorbidities such as hypertension, increase the risk of fecal incontinence. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between blood pressure, hypertension levels, and FISI in the elderly patients. This research is a cross-sectional study that conducted at Santa Anna nursing resident from June-July 2023. The sampling method used was total sampling. There were 60 respondents who met the criteria, which were dominated by women as many as 40 (66.7%). On the scatter plot, it was found that systolic blood pressure of 160mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of 100mmHg produced a liner consistency value with the severity of fecal incontinence. Hence health workers need to assess patients thoroughly, especially comorbidities when dealing with elderly people with fecal incontinence, to ensure a well-maintained quality of life for the patient.

Abstract

Aging is associated with a gradual decline in physiological function, impacting multiple organ systems and reducing resistance to physical, cognitive, and mental stress. Adequate nutrition is critical for elderly people's health and quality of life. However, elderly people are susceptible to nutritional problems, including weight loss, decreased muscle mass (sarcopenia), and weakness. Decreased physical activity, hormonal changes, and metabolic adjustments influence these changes. The elderly population receiving treatment in institutions and hospitals has a significantly higher prevalence of malnutrition. This activity uses the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) framework to screen the nutritional status of the elderly using the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) questionnaire. Activities were held at St. Fransiskus Assisi, Jakarta which included 35 participants. It was found that 10 people (27.78%) were at risk of experiencing malnutrition and 6 people (16.67%) experienced malnutrition. Early nutritional screening using the MNA questionnaire is essential to detect and prevent complications related to malnutrition in the elderly, thereby improving individual health outcomes and quality of life.
