Abstract

Verbal violent behavior in the online game mobile legend: bang bang for some online game players is normal and has become a habit. The purpose of this study was to explore the behavior of verbal violence in online game players: mobile legend bang bang. This study uses a qualitative research design with a construct realism approach. The research respondents totaled 188 online game players: mobile legend: bang bang. Data was collected using an open question questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The results of the study show that there are five types of verbal abuse that occur in online games: mobile legend: bang bang, i.e. swearing by demeaning one's abilities, using animal names, harsh words, sexual harassment, and swearing by insulting one's condition. The causes of individuals getting verbal violence are lack of skills, experiencing defeat in games, poor communication, and network disturbances. Individuals also verbally abuse other individuals due to anger, bad playing players, game atmosphere, habits, and game strategies. The individual goals of verbal violence are expressing frustration, motivating players, self-satisfaction, game strategies, and player habits. The impact of verbal violence is the psychological impact such as hurt, fear, giving resistance, provoked anger, and retaliating. Non-psychological impacts such as stopping playing, reporting to game parties, disabling communication features, and motivating players. Efforts to minimize verbal violence in the legendary mobile game: bang bang, namely reminding each other, playing seriously, calming down, stopping playing, venting on other things, ignoring other players. The implication of this research is as a source of literacy regarding verbal violence that occurs in the mobile game legend: bang bang.

Abstract

Self-disclosure is the ability of individuals to voluntarily disclose information about themselves to others that is personal. This will affect both him and others, if done excessively. From the influence of self-disclosure factors based on personality type can be seen and focus on the personality of the big five personality in Makassar State University students. This study involved students of Makassar State University (N=381). The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling. The measuring instruments used are the Big Five Inventory scale (BFI) adaptation scale from Ramdhani (2012) and the self-disclosure scale from Tamaraya research (2020). Data analysis used in this study is a multiple linear regression technique. The results showed that there is not significant influence with the four big five personality, namely, Openess to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, and agreeableness to self-disclosure. While personality neuroticism has a significant effect on self-disclosure. This research has implications in the field of Social Psychology and is useful for students to be able to determine the value of attitudes, emotions, and values that affect individuals on personality that are carried out towards self-disclosure.

Abstract

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is designed as a self-entertaining game that can stimulate adrenaline. One of the impacts of playing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is verbal behavior that tends to be negative and aggressive which is caused by the high intensity of playing online games and even makes players unconsciously apply it in their daily lives. The large amount of free time that players use to play causes addiction and changes in the individual's character to become more aggressive. This research uses quantitative methods with accidental sampling techniques in sampling. The respondents in this research were students from SMP Negeri 10 Makassar who played the online game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang with an age range of 12-15 years with a sample of 117 students. The instruments used were the Online Game Playing Intensity scale and the Verbal Aggression scale. The data analysis used is simple regression analysis with the help of SPSS 24.0 software. The results of data analysis obtained a coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.184 with a significance level of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), so it can be concluded that the intensity of playing online games has a positive and significant influence on the verbal aggression of students at SMP Negeri 10 Makassar.
