Abstract

Pepper farmers in Petaling Banjar Village, Mendo Barat District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province who are members of the Pepper Farmer Empowerment Program are a community group assisted by PT RBT's CSR. As a social investment, the implementation of CSR activities in the long term will bring business returns in the form of profits for the company. Social Return on Investment (SROI) is a method used to measure the social impact of CSR activities that does not only calculate the value of profits in the form of money, but includes a broader concept that includes social, economic, and environmental values. This study involved a number of respondents who were representatives of key stakeholders, namely: 10 pepper farmers, 6 general public, 1 community leader and 2 people from the Petaling Banjar village government. Data were collected using in-depth interview techniques, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), field observations, and the use of secondary data from PT RBT's CSR program documentation. The results showed that the overall SROI value obtained was 1.76. This means that every IDR 1 invested has a benefit of IDR 1.76 when the SROI measurement is carried out. When viewed from a social and economic perspective, the Petaling Banjar Pepper Farmers Empowerment program can be said to be feasible and successful

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic decreased Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Therefore, This community service program aims to improve community welfare through the development of MSMEs based on local wisdom in Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra. Nan Sabaris District, Padang Pariaman Regency has several MSMEs producing various products, especially Padang Pariaman speciality cakes. Pauh Kambar village is a culinary destination in Nan Sabaris District. Not all MSMEs in the Pauh Kambar Village were well managed. There was potential products development, but their production and marketing were still limited. The main focus of this MSMEs development program was empowerment through business training and mentoring. This program included business management, financial management, product packaging, and online marketing training. In addition, it also performed family empowerment in the target community. This program focused on the strengthening phase of the community empowerment program. The program evaluations showed that the beneficiaries were very satisfied with the training and business monitoring program. In addition, the program was very effective for beneficiaries in business management abilities, marketing management, business motivation, business turnover, and parenting knowledge. Furthermore, beneficiaries had increased a business turnover of approximately IDR 1.5 million/month and an average income of IDR 750 thousand/month after receiving training and mentoring programs. The MSMEs development program and family empowerment are satisfactory and effective for MSMEs actors in Pauh Kambar Village. The community service team will recommend partners receive financial assistance from other programs and build cooperation with various stakeholders.

Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untukmengetahuikemampuanmahasiswasemester empatUniversitas Batanghari (UNBARI) Jambi dalam menulis teks ekspositori fokus pada organisasi, tatabahasa, dan mekanik dan untuk mengetahui kesulitan yang dihadapi mahasiswa dalam menulis teks ekspositori. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa semester empat Universitas Batanghari (UNBARI) Jambi. Sampel data ini diambil secara acak dan 25 % dari jumlah siswa semester IV.Di samping itu, peneliti menggunakan tes menulis dan interview sebagai instrumen dalam penelitian ini. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan kriteria penilaian yang diambil dari para ahli dan dinilai oleh peneliti sendiri. Berdasarkan analisis tes ditemukan bahwa mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris semester empat Universitas Batanghari Jambi mempunyai kemampuan yang rendah dalam menulis teks ekspositori berhubungan dengan isi, organisasi, tata bahasa, dan mekanik. Berdasarkan rata-rata nilai dari tes, tidak ada yang memperoleh nilai sangat bagus. ada 3 orang mahasiswa (10%) yang memperoleh nilai bagus. Ada 13 orang mahasiswa (43,33 %) yang memperoleh nilai rendah. Ada 14 orang mahasiswa (46,66 %) yang memperoleh nilai sangat rendah. Selanjutnya, berdasarkan hasil wawancara, kebanyakan dari mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam isi, organisasi, tata bahasa, dan mekanik. Tetapi kesulitan yang utama adalah dari segi mekanik.Kata kunci: Analisis, Kemampuan Menulis, Teks Ekspositori.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam mengembangkan paragrap perbandingan-kontras terkait isi dan organisasi, tata bahasa, kosakata dan mekanik.  Masalah pada penelitian ini adalah ‘Bagaimana kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengembangkan paragrap perbandingan dan kontras terkait isi dan organisasi, tata bahasa, kosakata, dan mekanik pada mahasiswa semester empat Universitas Batanghari-Jambi tahun ajaran 2014/2015?’ Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester IV/A yang terdiri dari 25 orang mahasiswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data pada penelitian ini diperoleh dari tes. Nilai rata-rata dari hasil tes mahasiswa adalah rendah. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penggunaan Contextual Guessing Technique untuk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca mahasiswa. Masalah pada penelitian ini adalah ‘Bagaimana Contextual Guessing Technique meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pada mahasiswa semester empat Universitas Batanghari-Jambi tahun ajaran 2013/2014?’. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester II/A yang terdiri dari 30 orang mahasiswa. Penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang diadakan dalam tiga siklus. Data pada penelitian ini diperoleh dari tes, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Persentase nilai rata-rata siswa tes awal adalah 49.2% dan pada tes akhir adalah 72%. Peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa dari tes awal ke tes akhir adalah 22.8%. Dengan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa Contextual Guessing Technique dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca mahasiswa semester dua di Universitas Batanghari-Jambi tahun ajaran 2013/2014.Kata kunci : reading comprehension, contextual guessing technique

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Bertujuan untuk menemukan peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif pada mahasiswa semester dua di universitas Batanghari tahun ajaran 2015/2016 melalui mind mapping. Datanya diperoleh dari pre-test dan post test dari masing-masing siklus. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan dalam kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Hal ini dapat dilihat pada rata-rata dari pre test dan post test. Pada siklus 1 rata-rata pre test dan post test adalah 57.03 dan 65.15. Rata-rata dari pre test dan post test pada siklus 2 adalah 64.05 dan 73.00. Proses penelitian ini berlangsung selama empat minggu. Mahasiswa bisa mengikuti proses belajar mengajar dengan baik. Mereka tampak tertarik dalam pelajaran. Berdasarkan analisis, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa mind mapping bisa meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiwa dalam menulis deskriptif

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to measure the difficulty level of the English semester test items for the tenth grade students at SMA N 3 Jambi City in the academic year 2016/2017. The sample is 40 students of tenth grade science two and taken by random sampling with lottery. This study is conducted to analyze the test items whether it is conclude in easy, moderate, or difficult items. This study is categorized in mix method research, those are quantitative and qualitative. The instrument used in this study is documentation. The researcher take 40 students’ answer sheets as the data that will be counted how many respondents can answer of each item and has been counted by using formula. The research find that there are 35 items in easy level, 2 items in moderate level, and 3 items in difficult items. And all the items can be said in easy level with the result 0,85 index of difficulty. The researcher also find that there are 12 valid items, and 28 invalid items.Keywords: English Semester Test, Item Analysis, Difficulty Level.

Abstract

AbstractThe objective of this study was to find out the influence of learning motivation towards English learning achievement. This study involved 269 students of eleventh grade, the sample was 40 students of eleventh grade science six at SMA N 3 Jambi City academic year 2017/2018 and taken by random sampling with lottery. There were two variables in this study, they were learning motivation and English learning achievement with 6 total indicators. The method of this study was survey method of quantitative research. Instrument used in this study was questionnaire and documentation. The research found that mean of students motivation from the questionnaire was valued 81,6 in good category. From the findings, it showed that there was no significant influence of learning motivation towards English learning achievement. Based on the analysis of data, the value of tcount is -0,052 ˂ ttable 2,024 in significance 0,025 line 38 counted by SPSS for Windows Version 16.Keywords: Learning motivation, English learning achievement

Abstract

This research is to analyze the learner’s needs of English for Specific Purpose (ESP) at SMK N 1 Betara especially in engineering program because English is important for students. In English for Specific Purpose (ESP), English is taught to meet the English needs in area of specialization. The needs in area of specialization are worth considering since the language we speak and write varies from one context to another. The purpose of this researcher wants to examine the learner’s needs of English for Specific Purpose (ESP). This research applied a mixed-method. The combination of both quantitative and qualitative research targeted students of SMK N 1 Betara in engineering program especially in tenth grade with 31 participants. The result of this research in students’ English language course preferences 41,9 % want to learn English accordance with the material they need in engineering. In students’ results regarding the language aspects of the English language course, more than half of students (61,3 %) want to learn English more specific, it means they wanted English lesson associated with their department of engineering that can be useful as in the job.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the language learning strategies that students used and to observe their achievement based on the strategies at second grade on SMAN 8 Kota Jambi Academic Year 2018/2019. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The sample of this research is XI IPS 1 consists of 36 students, in order to get the sample in this research by using simple random sampling. The data are collected by using questionnaire adapted from Oxford (1990) and documentation from English teacher. The result of this research showed that there are very high students and high students in using language learning strategies. Based on the data, the most frequency strategies that students used are metacognitive strategies are used by 13 students (36%) with the average score very high (84,3), affective strategies are used by 9 students (25%) with the average score very high (84,1),social strategies are used by 6 students (17%) with the average score very high (82,2), and cognitive strategies are used by 3 students (8%) with the average score high (78,5), while the lowest frequency strategies that students used are memory strategies used by 4 students (11%) with the average score very high (81,6). Lastly, compensation strategies are used by 1 student (3) with the score high (78).Keywords: Learning Strategies, Achievement.
