Abstract

The actualization of learning materials needs to be done to create a learning situation that is under the times. In learning German as a foreign language, the concept of DACHL has not been well recognized by every German teacher at the SMA / MA / SMK level. For this reason, adjustments to learning materials, techniques, and learning strategies are considered important so that the German learning process does not only train language skills but also fosters a cross-cultural understanding of these countries and the Indonesian nation itself. This article attempts to describe the results of training activities for the preparation of cross-cultural learning designs for German language teachers at the SMA / MA / SMK levels throughout Malang and its surroundings. This training implementation method which is accommodated in community service activities is designed by adopting an education and training system for ASN, namely on campus and off-campus. Despite undergoing method modifications as a result of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, training is going well. With simultaneous mentoring, collaboration, and collaboration between various parties, participants can receive the material well and simultaneously apply it in the form of a learning design.

Abstract

This study aims to solve problems related to the policy of Teacher Professional Development (TPD) program. This research produces a syllabus of in-office TPD for the German language to solve problems faced in the field; it is necessary to provide provision and preparation for lecturers so that the preparation and implementation of learning have the same standards and goals and the percentage of pedagogic material is more than the professional content. Meanwhile the composition of the competency test is otherwise. In this study, a new policy of TPD is formulated based on 21st century competencies and 21st century learning models that have been successfully applied in Australia, namely a life skills-based learning approach, or known as life- based learning. This framework has become the flagship program for learning innovation at the State University of Malang. The research employed a research and development method that begins with problem identification or problem formulation. The syllabus design is created and developed based on performance and needs analysis, and oriented to the principles of teacher training in the 21st century. These principles are reflected in the syllabus which contains pegadodic competences, professional competence, the ability to use digital media through blended learning and digital-based learning. Based on the results of the validation by German learning experts and suggestions from users, it can be concluded that the PPG German syllabus design is feasible to use. Nevertheless, it is necessary to refine the time allocation according to the needs and clarity of evaluation and assessment.

Abstract

The one-page lesson plan (LP) is one of four new policies announced by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture several years ago. LP is prepared so that teachers have plenty of time to prepare and evaluate the learning process. The training on how to design a one-page LP provides new experiences for teachers, who are members of the German Teachers Association (IGBJI) in Malang. Based on the results of the questionnaire, more than half of the participants stated that the design of the one-page LP was easier than the old one because the new design had components that were more concise and streamlined, made it efficient in many ways. Although the teachers still have shortcomings, but in general, it can be stated that the use of a one-page LP can help teachers to have an orientation in teaching.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to describe the factors of the PASCH and non-PASCH students’ internal and external motivation to learn german and to describe the PASCH- and non-PASCH teacher’s role on motivating the students to learn german. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method. The results of this research show that internal factors that underlie students' learning motivation are shown among others by the reasons for students why they learn German, students' interest in German country and culture, the importance of German for students, the enthusiasm of students during german lesson, and the effort of the students to improve their german. Meanwhile, PASCH program is an additional factor of the PASCH students extrinsic motivation while for non-PASCH students, the teachers have a more dominant role as a factor of their extrinsic motivation, the teachers of PASCH and non-PASCH schools have a big role on motivating the students externally.

Abstract

The implementation of EDDU as a source of ideas for digital German language teachingIn the industrial revolution 4.0 era, digital media is an important instrument in all aspects, including in the field of education. Twenty first century teachers are required to have the abilities and skills to utilize media, including digital media. This study aims to provide information for German language teachers and find out their perceptions of the use of Erfolgreich Digital Deutsch Unterrichten (EDDU) media in the learning process. EDDU is an internet-based digital media in the form of learning package, containing materials and learning steps such as games or quizzes. This study implemented a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observations, Forum Group Discussion (FGD), and questionnaires, resulting in qualitative and quantitative data that were described descriptively. The study involved German teachers in Malang, Indonesia.  Results of the study indicates that EDDU can be used as a multimedia alternative. It offers teaching ideas and materials that can help teachers to prepare their lessons and present the materials. By using EDDU, German language teachers are able to improve the convenience in their teaching. EDDU is shown to have followed Indonesian high schools syllabus, the materials in EDDU have provided supports for online learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi kepada guru bahasa Jerman dan mengetahui persepsi mereka terhadap penggunaan media digital Erfolgreich Digital Deutsch Unterrichten (EDDU) dalam pembelajaran. EDDU merupakan media berbasis internet berupa paket pembelajaran yang berisi materi dan langkah-langkah pembelajaran dalam bentuk permainan atau kuis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan datanya menggunakan observasi, FGD, dan angket yang menghasilkan data kualitatif dan kuantitatif, serta dipaparkan secara deskriptif. Sumber datanya adalah guru bahasa Jerman di Malang, Indonesia. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa media EDDU dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif multimedia. EDDU menawarkan ide mengajar dan materi-materi yang dapat membantu guru menyiapkan pembelajaran dan menyampaikan materi. Dengan menggunakan EDDU, guru bahasa Jerman mendapatkan kemudahan dalam mengajar. Materi dalam EDDU sesuai dengan silabus Sekolah Menengah Atas atau Madrasah Aliyah. Materi yang diberikan mendukung pembelajaran online, dan kegiatan dengan menggunakan EDDU dapat membuat kelas lebih aktif dan menarik.Kata kunci: EDDU, multimedia, bahasa Jerman, daF

Abstract

Sentences are not only analyzed syntactically but also semantically. One then no longer speaks about syntactic aspects of the subjects, objects or predicates. A classification of the subjects from a semantic point of view mostly occurs according to the meaning structure of the verbs. Subjects therefore not only play the role as agents but also as Ursache, Zustandsträger, and even as patients. It is often understood that the subject does something in a sentence, i.e. as the perpetrator. The Data are described qualitatively based on the semantic functions of each subject. The subjects in the sentences Peter hat Fieber and Die Mutter wäscht die Hemden have different semantic functions. Besides verbs, there are other factors that determine the role of the subjects. The various semantic functions of the subjects in German sentences are discussed in this paper.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the use of Instagram Story as German learning media in a form of vocabulary quiz and the responses of students to the use of the media. The research method is descriptive qualitative and there were 19 students as the data source. The data were collected by conducting an observation and questionnaires. As a result of observation, students were enthusiast on taking the vocabulary quiz at Instagram Story because Instagram has become a part of their daily routine. This shows that Instagram Story could be implemented as German learning media since students are familiar to it. Based on the questionnaires result, the students’ responses were positive. The use of Instagram Story as vocabulary quiz has enriched students’ knowledge of German vocabularies especially about Kennenlernen topic. In addition, it motivated them to explore German vocabularies. Moreover, learning German with Instagram Story is attractive for the students.

Abstract

One of the ways to improve students’ critical thinking skills is by guiding students to use feedback strategies since through feedback they can find out the aspects of their weaknesses, become more open-minded, know the progress of their learning, feel guided in making work improvements, and become more confident. This study describes the strategies of giving feedback as an effort to enhance learners' critical thinking skills of Deutsch als Fremdsprache (DaF) or German as a Foreign Language learners in Indonesia. The data were taken from the learning processes in the German Language Education Study Program in a public university in the East Java region. The research data of this study were collected through class observations as well as interviews and presented in a descriptive qualitative method with observation and interview guidance as instruments. The results show that the strategies of giving feedback which can enhance learners' critical thinking skills are throwing questions to learners, giving comments, output-prompting, and giving praises.  Questions test the students’ grammar knowledge and evaluates if they have truly mastered the material they have learned. Comments lead them to evaluate their work and their understanding. Output-prompting encourages them to keep learning and increase their skills. Praises improve students’ performance in the classroom and motivate them to talk in the class.

Abstract

Pelatihan desain pembelajaran berbasis proyek memaksimalkan pembelajaran yang berpusat  kepada siswa. Guru memiliki peran sebagai tutor yang menyediakan sumber daya, dukungan, dan  petunjuk kepada siswa. Pelatihan yang dilakukan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan desain pembelajaran dan penilaian guru bahasa Jerman se-Malang Raya yang terkait pembelajaran berbasis  proyek. Hasil pengabdian ini menggunakan metode pelaksanaan yang terdiri dari paparan, diskusi, dan pendampingan secara langsung pada pertemuan rutin Ikatan Guru Bahasa Jerman Indonesia (IGBJI) Cabang Malang. Kegiatan yang dilakukan membawa beberapa manfaat yang diperoleh dari guru dari pelatihan penyusunan proyek keterampilan berbicara, yaitu (1) mempermudah menyusun instrumen tugas untuk siswa, (2) mendapatkan pengetahuan baru mengenai tugas penilaian berbicara berbasis proyek, (3) mengetahui perbedaan Übungen und Aufgaben (4) menambah variasi dan ide baru tugas berbicara, dan (5) mendapatkan banyak alternatif penilaian dalam menilai proyek. Informasi yang   diperoleh tersebut selanjutnya diterapkan guru dalam pembelajaran di dalam kelas di sekolah masing- masing.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan materi pelatihan bahasa Jerman tingkat A2 CEFR ( Common European Framework of Reference for Languange) untuk empat keterampilan berbahasa kepada guru bahasa Jerman SMA di Jawa Timur. Metode penelitian yang digunakan melalui beberapa tahapan mulai dari sosialisasi, penerapan, latihan, uji coba dan diskusi hasil kerja. Setelah mendapatkan pelatihan semua guru akan melaksanakan uji coba ujian A2 CEFR. Uji coba penting dilakukan sebagai persiapan menghadapi ujian internasional tingkat A2. Setelah kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan diskusi hasil kerja, diskusi pengembangan, dan diskusi perbaikan untuk mendapatkan hal-hal yang lebih bermanfaat bagi pengajaran di kelas nantinya. Didapatkan hasil yang membuktikan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan bahasa Jerman Tingkat A2 standar kemampuan berbahasa Eropa secara daring bagi guru-guru bahasa Jerman se Jawa Timut dikatakan berhasil. Berdasarkan hasil angket diperoleh data bahwa pelatihan sejenis sebaiknya dilanjutkan dengan diakhiri ujian A2 standar internasional. Selain itu sebaik praktik baik, pengetahuan yang diperoleh peserta dapat diterapkan di kelas pembelajaran bahasa Jerman di sekolah masing-masing. ÂÂ
