Abstract

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of feeding by-product from virgin coconut oil processing (blondo) in ration on total colony of Lactobacillus sp, Salmonella sp and Escherichia coli in ileum of broiler. Broilers reared for 6 weeks in Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT), at Faculty of Animal Science, University of Andalas. One hundred of broilers strain Cobb on three days old were used. The design of experiment was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 5 treatments (0; 7.5; 15; 22.5 and 30% blondo level in ration) and 4 replications for each treatment. Variables observed were total colony of Lactobacillus sp bacteria, Salmonella sp and Escherichia coli in ileum of broiler at 3 and 6 weeks of age. The result showed, total colony of Lactobacillus sp bacteria highly significant (P<0.01) increased and Salmonella sp highly significant (P<0.01) decreased by treatment at 3 and 6 weeks of age, but only decreased significantly (P<0.05) total colony of Escherichia coli bacteria at 3 weeks of age and highly significant decreased (P<0.01) at 6 weeks of age. Abstract

An experiment was conducted to studi the effect of the blondo in diet to the performance chicken. Five diets were formulated with different level blondo in diet i,e : (A) 0% , (B) 3%, (D) 6% , (D) 9 % and (E) 12 %. The diets were offered for 6 weeks to 80 broiler chickens 3 old days. Variable measured included : Feed consumption , body weight gain, FCR,  carcass and percentage of abdominal fat. The data were statistically analyzed for variance analysis in completely randomized design. The results indicated that 12 % blondo in diet gave significant effect to improved performance of broiler chickens.

Abstract

An experiment has been conducted to study the effect of diets with different level of protein on the production performance of offspring (F1) crossbred between arab and kampung chicken. Fifty four crossbreed hens of 20 weeks of age were used in the experiment. The hens were divided into 3 feeding groups, each 6 x 3 heads. Treatment diets were formulated in three different levels of protein: 15, 17 and 19 %. The diets which an average energy content of 2850 kcal/kg were offered for 8 weeks. Variable observed included: feed intake, hen day egg production, FCR, egg weight and color index of yellow egg. The data were statistically analyzed by variance analysis in completely block design with 3 treatments and 6 replicates. The results indicated the protein level had significant effect on all variables. Diet with 19 % crude protein gave the best performance.

Abstract

Honey end egg yolk are one of the food supplements that contain antioxidants very high.This study aims to determine the quality of sentul male spermatozoa fed honey and egg yolk before artificial insemination on the quality of spermatozoa fertility hacchability of hacching eggs.This research was conducted by an experimental method with 4 levels 0 ml honey (control),3 ml honey,5 ml honey and 7 ml honey, Factor B giving egg yolk to sentul roosters with 4 levels 0 ml egg yolk (control),3 ml egg yolk,5 ml egg yolk, end 7 ml egg yolk.The results of the study showed that based on statistical analysis it was a very significant interaction between the combination of treatment levels of honey and egg yolk administraton on semen volume(0,85%),spermatozoa motility concentration(3,92x109),motility Spermatozoa(90,00%) spermatozoa abnormalities(5,00%) ,spermatozoa fertility eggs(91,67%),embryo mortality(7%),and egg hatchability(93%).From the results of the study it can be conluded that the administration of 5 ml honey and 5 ml egg yolk significantly gives the best results.

Abstract

The aimed of this study was to determine the effect of Moringa Leaf Flour (MLF) on chicken and duckmeat processed quality formed nugget as fortification. Duck meat has advantages with mineral content,especially iron, about 50% of the daily needs for adult’s body compared to chicken meat which is only9%. Duck meat also contains high levels of vitamins B, C and antioxidants, but chicken meat neither.This study was conducted in two stages, the first was nugget experiment with chicken meat, and thesecond stages with duck meat. The meat used were ground with flour and seasoning. The variablesmeasured were the nutritional content which includes crude protein and fat, also cholesterol total, theother variables were sensory evaluation which include scale of taste, texture and color. This study usedcompletely randomized design with 4 treatments addition of MLF (0.0%; 0.5%; 1.0% and 1.5%), eachtreatments replicated 5 times. The result show that the more addition of MLF will increased CrudeProtein and highly significant decreased crude fat and cholesterol total. In the other hand, addition ofMLF was highly significant lowering the taste, texture and color of nugget, but still in acceptable range.

Abstract

Pitalah ducks, a germplasm of West Sumatra, have been established through the Ministerial Decree No. 293/kpts/OT.140/6/2011. The consequence of the stipulation is seen as important in maintaining the population and purity of Pitalah ducks through the selection activities of the parents and the cultivation of Pitalah ducks in Batipuh District as an area of Pitalah ducks. One effort is to empower students to the village. The specific purpose of this activity is the development, cultivation and post-harvest processing to increase community income. This activity involved 36 Unand students. The methods used include debriefing the students, socialization activities and designing the work plans and last workshop on activity plans. The implementation of activities, namely hatching eggs produced from productive broodstock from flocks made based on the characteristics of Pitalah ducks, the from hatching is intensively cultivated so that mortality is lower and growth is faster. The growth period ducks are maintained in a semi-intensive manner utilizing local food sources namely taro, water hyacinth, ampo rice plus bran, corn and snail so that the price of feed can be cheaper. Postharvest processing is carried out by providing some innovations in processing eggs and duck meat into rendang suir, rendang eggs, various variants of salted eggs that can improve people's health and income. Based on the results of the activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that there is a good response for the target community and local government, especially in the Batipuh sub-district, Tanah Datar Regency.

Abstract

Kegiatan Program IbM ini dilaksanakan pada dua kelompok ternak itik lokal, khususnya itik Pitalah, plasma nutfah Sumatera Barat di daerah asal itik tersebut yaitu di Kecamatan Batipuh Kabupaten Tanah Datar Sumatera Barat . Kelompok mitra kegiatan IbM ini adalah Kelompok peternak Parit Mudiak dan Kelompok peternak Baliang Sakato. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan alih teknologi pada kedua kelompok ini dalam bentuk kolaborasi yang saling terintegrasi. Kelompok Parit Mudiak adalah kelompok yang beraktifitas sebagai pembibit itik lokal yang menghasilkan anak itik. Budidaya hanya dilakukan pada itik induk, penghasil telur tetas saja. Hampir semua anak itik dijual padahal lahan mereka tersedia dan permintaan terhadap itik pedaging belum terpenuhi. Harga anak itik jantan (Rp. 3000 – 3.500/ ekor) dan betina (Rp. 8.000 – 9.000/ekor) jauh berbeda. Pada kelompok ini dilakukan alih teknologi untuk menghasilkan itik pedaging (untuk itik jantan) yang rendah kolesterol melalui pemberian probiotik. Pemberian pakan untuk itik pembesaran dilakukan berbasis pakan lokal yang banyak terdapat disekeliling peternak. Kelompok Baling Bukik Sakato juga merupakan kelompok tani yang juga beternak itik, Selain itu kelompok ini aktif dalam diversifikasi produk pangan antara lain menghasilkan telur asin dan ampiang. Untuk telur asin, biasanya kelompok ini juga memanfaatkan telur sortiran dari Kelompok Parit Mudiak, sedangkan antuk menghasilkan ampiang, biasanya diambil dari anggota kelompok itu sendiri. Kegiatan alih teknologi yang akan diberikan pada kelompok Baliang Bukik Sakato adalah pengolahan itik dan telur yang dihasilkan oleh Kelompok Parit Mudiak. Telur asin dilanjutkan, sedangkan daging itik akan diolah menjadi rendang suir dan rendang itik yang dikemas dalam kemasan aluminium foil dan divacum yang bernilai dijual dan tahan lebih lama. Muara akhir dari kegiatan ini adalah pengembangan dan pelestarian plasma nutfah itik Pitalah sekaligus peningkatan pendapatan kelompok Ternak di Kecamatan Batipuh Kabupaten Tanah Datar. Metode yang digunakan dalam program pengabdian ini yaitu penyuluhan, Pelatihan, Pembinaan dan pemberian paket teknologi, sekaligus pengamatan dan pengambilan data untuk mengukur parameter keberhasilan dari program yang dijalankan.

Abstract

Kegiatan Program IbM ini dilaksanakan pada dua kelompok ternak Ayam Kukuak Balenggek (AKB) di daerah insitu di Kenagarian Rangkian Luluih Kecamatan Tigo Lurah Kabupaten Solok dan DI daerah exsitu pada Kelompok Peternak AKB Kinantan Bagombak di Ampang Kualo Kota Solok. Khalayak sasaran program IbM adalah masyarakat peternak AKB dan masyarakat yang berminat untuk menjadi peternak AKB baik di daerah insitu maupun exsitu.. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan paket teknologi song learning, perbaikan sistem perkawinan inbreeding terkendali dan manajemen pemeliharaan khususnya pemberian creep feeding pada periode anak (starting period) demi meningkatkan produktifitas, mengurangi angka kematian dan pelestarian AKB. Teknologi untuk memproduksi pakan ayam yang diberikan berbasis pakan lokal dan sumber protein yang murah dan mudah dijangkau sebagai pengganti pakan komersial. Muara akhir dari kegiatan ini adalah peningkatan populasi AKB yang berkualitas dan penyediaan bibit AKB di daerah insitu dan exsitu, peningkatan produktifitas, dan efisiensi biaya pakan dalam rangka pengembangan dan pelestarian plasma nutfah Ayam Kukuak Balenggek di Kelompok Peternak AKB di Kanagarian Batu Bajanjang Kecamatan Tigo Lurah Kabupaten Solok (insitu) dan di kelompok peternak AKB Kinantan Bagombak di Kota Solok (eksitu). Metode yang digunakan dalam program pengabdian ini yaitu penyuluhan,peragaan, pelatihan, pembinaan dan pemberian paket teknologi, sekaligus pengamatan dan evaluasi dan pengambilan data untuk mengukur parameter keberhasilan dari program yang dijalankan.

Abstract

Abstract This research was aimed to identifiaty qualitative and quantitative phenotypic polymorphism of Sikumbang Jonti Duck in Kecamatan Payakumbuh Timur Kota Payakumbuh Sumatera Barat. This research used 206 Sikumbang Jonti duck that were sexual maturity (22-48 weeks), divided of 50 males and 156 females. The qualitative traits observeted were head color, neck color, breaks color, back color, primary wings color, tail color, thigh color, bill color, and shank color. The quantitative traits observed were body weight (kg), beak width (cm), beak length (cm), neck length (cm), wing length (cm), femur length (cm), tibia length (cm), shank length (cm), back length (cm), number of primary wing feathers (strands), number of secondary wing feathers (strands), pelvic width (cm), and chest circumference (cm). The result showed that color of Sikumbang Jonti duck was dominated by white. Male Sikumbang Jonti duck had color head was white-black, and female had color head was white. In addition, the Sikumbang Jonti duck had green primary wing feathers like a beetle. The coefficient of diversity of the Sikumbang Jonti duck was low for beak width, tibia length (female), number of primary wing feathers, and number of secondary wing feathers, moderate value for body weight, beak length, neck length, wing length, femur length (female), length tibia (male), shank length, back length, perlvis width (females), and chest circumference (males), and high value for femur length (males). Keywords: Duck morphometric; Germplasm; Pattern color; Payakumbuh; Sumatera barat Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengindentifikasi keragaman fenotipe kualitatif dan kuantitatif itik Sikumbang Jonti di Kecamatan Payakumbuh Timur Kota Payakumbuh Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan 206 ekor itik Sikumbang Jonti yang sudah dewasa kelamin (22 – 48 minggu), terdiri dari 50 ekor jantan dan 156 ekor betina. Sifat kualitatif yang diamati adalah warna bulu head, warna bulu neck, warna bulu breaks, warna back, warna primary wings, warna tail, warna thigh, warna bill, dan warna shank. Sifat kuantitatif yang diamati adalah bobot badan (kg), lebar paruh (cm), panjang paruh (cm), panjang leher (cm), panjang sayap (cm), panjang femur (cm), panjang tibia (cm), panjang shank (cm), panjang punggung (cm), jumlah bulu sayap primer (helai), jumlah bulu sayap sekunder(helai), lebar pelvis (cm), dan lingkar dada (cm). Hasil menunjukkan warna bulu itik Sikumbang Jonti didominasi dengan warna bulu putih. Warna bulu kepala itik Sikumbang Jonti jantan berwarna putih-hitam, sedangkan itik Sikumbang Jonti betina berwarna putih. Selain itu, itik Sikumbang Jonti memiliki warna bulu sayap primer berwarna hijau seperti kumbang. Koefisien keragaman itik Sikumbang Jonti bernilai rendah untuk lebar paruh, panjang tibia (betina), jumlah bulu sayap primer, dan jumlah bulu sayap sekunder, bernilai sedang untuk bobot badan, panjang paruh, panjang leher, panjang sayap, panajng femur (betina), panjang tibia (jantan), panjang shank, panjang punggung, lebar perlvis (betina), dan lingkar dada (jantan), dan bernilai tinggi untuk panjang femur (jantan). Keragaman fenotipe kualitatif dan kuantitatif pada itik Sikumbang Jonti relatif seragam, kecuali pada fenotipe kuantitatif panjang femur pada itik Sikumbang Jonti jantan memiliki keragaman tinggi.
