Abstract

The research is aimed to know the students’ ability in using Independent and Dependent Clauses in Complex Sentences in class VI-A and VI-B at Bosowa University. The result of this research is expected to give benefits for the readers especially in using Independent and Dependent Clauses in Complex Sentences. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The populaton of this research is sixth semester students of Bosowa University in academic year 2015/2016 that have 65 students and the sampling of this research is quota sampling so, in this research the researcher take some of the students in the class which is consist of 30 students  from two classes and each class was took 15 students. The result of this research and explanation that the researcher got in Bosowa University is 6.6% students got very good category and 20% students got good category while 50% students got enough category and then 23.3 students got poor category. While the mean score of the students is 71.2. It indicates that students sixth semester enough ability in using Independent and dependent clauses in complex sentences.

Abstract

The research is aimed to know lexical collocation in writing production committed by MAKES Member at al Markaz for Khudi Enlightening Studies (MAKES) Makassar. The result of this research is expected to give benefits for the EFL/ESL learner especially in using English collocation in all English skills. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The populaton of this research is about 30 respondents and sampling 15, period of 2015-2016. In this research the writer took only 4 selected writing productions to be analyzed. The analysis data indicated that there were lexical collocations in each informant’s writings. Although, there were a tendency of difficulty of informants to use lexical collocation type L3. These showed by the higher number of errors occurrence in this type. Moreover, the errors occurrence, in fact, mostly, affected by the lack of understanding of the using collocation, negative transfer from their native language and the improper way in assembling the two-words. It was stated that the MAKES members need to improve their English comprehensively, particularly the awareness of using the correct and effective lexical collocation in their writing production

Abstract

The objective of this research was to describe the application of Brain-Based Learning Approach to be used in teaching reading comprehension to the first year students of MA As?adiyah Ereng-Ereng Bantaeng Regency.The method used in this research was descriptive quantitative method that is one group, post-test classification. problems statement of this research is what is the students? reading comprehension after the application of Brain-Based Learning Approach to the first year students of MA As?adiyah Ereng-Ereng Bantaeng?. There were two variables, namely independent variable (the application of Brain Based Learning Approach) and dependent variable (Teaching Reading Comprehension).The population of this research was the first year students of MA As?adiyah Ereng-Ereng Bantaeng Regency in academic year 2019/2020.The total number of population was 22 students. The sample of the research was 22 students which were taken by using total sampling technique.The instrument of this research was reading comprehension test. The result of the data indicated that there was a good classification.  The mean score of the test section was 80  and standard deviation in post-test was 9.1.Based on the finding and discussion of the research, the researcher drawn a conclusion that the application of Brain Based Learning Approach was good to be used in teaching reading comprehension to first year students of MA As?adiyah Ereng-Ereng.

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to know the use of scrabble game can reinforce EFLYoung Learners vocabulary. The writer was applied pre experimental with one group pre-test and post-test. This research was conducted at SMPN 35 Makassar sub-district of Biringkanaya, Makassar city. In this research, the population was the seven grade students of SMPN 35 Makassar in academic year 2016/2017. The total numbers of population were 240 students. The researcher was used total sampling technique. The total number of samples was 30 students from class VII-1. In analyzing the numerical data, the writer used SPSS for windows. After conducted the research, the writer concludes that the use of Scramble Game in teaching English vocabulary enriches the students’ vocabulary; it is proved by the mean score of the students’ in pre-test and posttest. The mean score of the pre-test before the treatment was 57.40 and after the treatment the students gained score 74.67. The t-test of the students’ vocabulary achievement in posttest was smaller than α. The researcher found that the p-value (probability value) was lower than α (0.00 < 0.05) and the degree of freedom was 29. The t-test value of pre-test and post-test was remarked significantly different. It indicated that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and, of course, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected.

Abstract

The development of technology is one of the factors that participate in influencing the behavior of students in learning. In this study, the author tries to create an interesting learning media for students and can be used not only during class hours but wherever and whenever they can access it. One of the media that can be used is E-book. This study uses Research and Development using the ADDIE Model. The population and sample of this study were Nursing Students STIKES YAPIKA Makassar in the 2020/2021 academic year. The development procedure is divided into five stages, namely 1) Analysis stage in the form of literature study and field study and needs analysis, 2) Design stage, 3) Development stage, 4) Implementation stage and 5) Evaluation stage. Research data were collected using documentation and questionnaires which were analyzed descriptively and inferential statistics through SPSS version 22 for Windows. It is hoped that from the results of this study, lecturers can apply or use learning media that are in accordance with the times, namely E-books that can be accessed by students not only in class but anywhere and anytime. With the E-book-based learning media, it is hoped that student literacy culture can also increase

Abstract

This research was conducted to identify and analyze the main character of The Nightingale film using a literary psychology approach with the objective to analyze the depiction of the main character. This was a qualitative method. In obtaining the data, this research was conducted by watching The Nightingale film several times and analyzing Clare as the main character in the film. The researcher also uses the theory of emotion’s classification from David Krech. Results of the research found out that Clare as the main character of The Nightingale film had carried seven classifications of emotions, those data were one datum of guilt concept, two data of penetrated guilt, two data of punishing yourself, one datum of shame, four data of sadness, four data of hatred, and three data of love. From those 7 classifications, it was dominated with hatred concept. This proves that the driving force that causes change is very strong compared to other concepts. It can be seen from the storyline of the main character in The Nightingale film, that Clare's character was actually a kind person, but unfortunately she was always treated badly by people around her. This is the reason why Clare was full of resentment and determined to take a revenge for all kind of miserable things she went through.

Abstract

The aim of the research was intended to formulate the model of poor familiy Empowerement by determining both the level and the influencing factors of social responsibility and level of empowerment. Survey and interview techniques were implemented among 276 selected samples, started Nopember 2006 until April 2007. Data was analyzed by using both correlation and path analysis. The results indicated that a number of respondent had a high social responsibility and medium level of empowerment. The increase of social responsibility and level of empowerment were influenced by implementation of good government of local organization, income, and formal education. This study suggests an alternative model of empowerment in order to social responsibility and level of empowerment.

Abstract

This research was intended to formulate the strategy to increase The Actuality and Social Responsibility to Poor Families at Rural Area. Survey were implemented among 57 selected samples, started Nopember 2006 until April 2007. Data was analyzed by using both correlation and path analysis. The results indicated that a number of respondent had a high social responsibility. The increasement of social responsibility and level of empowerment were influenced by implementation of good government of local organization, income, and formal education. This study suggests an alternative model of empowerment in order to social responsibility.
