Abstract

This study discusses the uniqueness and meaning contained in the traditions of the circumcision of the apostle. The researcher uses the symbolic interaction theory developed by Herbert Blummer to analyze the meaning of Symbolic Interaction in the Unique Portrait of the Implementation of the Circumcision of the Apostles in Gampong Gunung Pudung, Kluet Utara, Aceh Selatan. Theoretically, symbolic interaction is a social life which is basically human interaction using symbols. So a symbol is not formed through mental coercion, it arises because the meaning is given by humans themselves. The type of research used by the researcher is qualitative and the focus of this research is intended to limit studies that can facilitate researchers in managing data which then becomes a conclusion according to the formulated problem. The results of this study indicate that there are several unique customs of circumcision of the apostle in Gampong Gunung Pudung which are very different from other areas such as hitting canangs, asking for money from close relatives, washing rice into the river, carrying on shoulders or being lifted on a stretcher, bathing in the river and swing chickens and now they still maintain their ancestral culture.

Abstract

This research looks at the difficulties middle school educators face in Banda Aceh City, Indonesia, due to the covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this investigation is to report on the challenges that emerged during the pandemic for a relatively new method of education: online study. Three public middle schools in Banda Aceh are the subjects of this study. Data is gathered through observation, interviews, and record-keeping, all hallmarks of qualitative research methods. The results show that teachers face a number of challenges when implementing online learning, including difficulties in adaptation because teachers cannot directly control their students' activities in order to assess them objectively; teachers' lack of understanding of technology, especially among older educators; teachers' encounters with passive students; teachers' less stable networks, which cause internet data quotas to become wasteful during online learning; and teachers' lack of control over their students' access to the internet, which makes it difficult to enforce strict rules and regulations.

Abstract

The discussion on jihad and suicide bombings in Indonesia shows a new pattern of jihadists and suicide bombers recruiting young women. Jihad is defined by the ulama as a genuine human effort to worship Allah SWT, but there are some people who misinterpret this meaning. This research is field research using a qualitative approach. This research was conducted at three universities in Aceh, namely Teuku Umar University (UTU) in Meulaboh, Malikus Saleh University Lhokseumawe, and IAIN Gajah Puteh in Takengon. Because this research highlights the knowledge of jihad in young women, the research object is female students at the three universities. Meanwhile, data collection techniques include interviews, documentation and social media observations regarding the phenomenon of knowledge of jihad and suicide bombings. The results of this research show that millennial women are less familiar with the word jihad, however, millennial women have their own reasoning about jihad. In response to the Sibolga bomb, the news was not followed closely, but millennial women did not agree with the teachings of the Islamic religion being conveyed in a violent manner.
