Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effect of principals' learning leadership and innovative behaviour in implementing School-Based Management in SD Negeri Dolok Pardamean District, Simalungun Regency in 2021. This type of research was explanatory, so the appropriate method used was the survey method of 15 school principals as research respondents. The research instrument is a questionnaire containing 25 positive and negative statements with five answer choices located on a continuum line according to the Likert scale model and in the form of a closed questionnaire. Before being used, the questionnaire has been tested, and the results can be used as a research instrument. Data analysis techniques include descriptive analysis, requirements analysis tests, and hypothesis testing. Descriptive analysis was conducted to obtain an overview of the data from each research variable which was shown through the mean, median, mode, frequency distribution, and graphs. To identify the trend of each research variable, the average ideal score (Mi) and the ideal standard deviation (SDi) were used. Supported by the very strong learning leadership and innovative behaviour of the primary school principal; (3) Based on hypothesis testing, the results of the calculation of the value of th tt at a significance level of 0.05 are 5.96 2.02. The conclusion that there is a significant influence on learning leadership and innovative behaviour of elementary school principals in implementing School-Based Management is accepted as true.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 di dunia membuat berbagai usaha dilakukan untuk memutus mata rantai penularan, salah satunya membersihkan tangan dengan hand sanitizer dan menggunakan masker. Masyarakat di sekitar kampus Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar masih terlihat belum terbiasa menggunakan masker pada saat keluar rumah. Demikian juga upaya preventif pada saat keluar rumah, dengan menyediakan hand sanitizer belum tercapai dengan baik dikarenakan harganya semakin meningkat tajam. Tujuan dari pengabdian masayarakat ini adalah untuk memberdayakan masyarakat dalam penggunaan masker dan hand sanitizer pada saat keluar rumah. Metode pangabdian yaitu berupa donasi masker dan hand sanitizer serta pemaparan cara pemakaiannya secara lisan. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah 400 orang sasaran sudah mendapatkan hand sanitizer dan 800 orang mendapatkan masker. Dengan demikian, masyarakat sekitar pada akhrinya dapat menggunakan masker dan perbekalan hand sanitizer pada saat keluar rumah.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to obtain descriptive information about problems and problems solving in learning listening comprehension. Researchers use qualitative descriptive research and investigate students' problems in listening comprehension in grade VIII and steps to solve their problem. This sample uses a qualitative descriptive method and is carried out in Kalam Kudus Christian Middle School Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra. The researcher found that the most common problem faced by the four students was lack of concentration, native the speaker's speaking speed, foreign words, and lack of effort to understand each word. The solutions offered to overcome these problems are focus and concentration while listening to class, concentrate on what is heard, and write down the things that are important when listening to the material spoken by a native speaker; find the meaning of a foreign word, look at the dictionary to find it out difficult words, check words that are not clearly heard in the dictionary, memorize vocabulary, and read English text and listen to English audio; and familiarize students with rulers pronunciation to help them hear different forms of fast natural speech and ask them questions imitating the pronunciation of native speakers. It concludes that studying information about problems and problem solving in junior high school is because they learn the results are still far from standard. Therefore, problem solving in listening Understanding of learning is expected to minimize the problems faced by junior high school students in the learning process so that they get satisfactory learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to answer the research problem about the non-linguistic problems in writing faced by grade eight at Junior High School 1 Pematangsiantar. The objective of this study was to identify some non-linguistic problems in writing faced by the grade eight at Junior High School 1 Pematangsiantar. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by using descriptive quantitative. The research participants of this study were thirty two students from grade eight of Junior High School 1 Pematangsiantar who had writing scores were the passing grade criteria. In addition, the instruments employed closed-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interview. The result of the study revealed that the grade eight encountered several non-linguistic problems in writing, comprised of: (1)students lacked of learning motivation, (2) lacked of support from people surrounding, poor facilities, and teacher’s related issues. Moreover, not all the students encountered those problems because every student had different linguistic problems in writing. Therefore, some contributions from the headmaster, English teacher and the students are needed in order to minimize those kinds of linguistic problems.

Abstract

The study is aimed to investigate the internal and external problems in Writing by the Senior High Students in one of the school in Simalungun SMA Negeri 2 Bandar. The sample of this study is the eleventh grade students having low ability in Writing. This research is a qualitative study using purposive sample. In collecting the qualitative data the researchers did observation, and distributed questionnaire. This study reveals some findings related to the students’ low ability in writing.

Abstract

This article describes the English listening problems faced by private course students in Pematangsiantar. Specifically revealing (1) students' English listening skills, (2) problems faced in listening to English and (3) how teachers solve these problems. Data were obtained through a series of English listening tests using recordings with native and non-native speakers, observations and interviews. The findings show (1) the problems they often face in listening to English which are related to speaking speed, limited vocabulary, concentration levels and language habits, and (3) To overcome them, teachers must apply the correct technique of practice. by providing students with several ways to practice listening to English. Thus, it can be concluded that the teacher's efforts can solve problems by listening to the problems faced by students

Abstract

This study sought to understand students' perceptions on asynchronous learning implementations (Camtasia Studio and Google-Classroom) during Covid-19, to identify the benefits and drawbacks of these tools, and to assess how much students trusted this type of learning when it was used in a rural setting. 45 respondents from the English Education Study Program made up the study's subject. It happened in the second, fourth, sixth, and eighth semesters. This study used a qualitative descriptive design. The data was gathered via a questionnaire, open-ended questions, and interviews. The study's findings suggested that these platforms had encountered a number of difficulties. Limited internet connectivity, according to more than half of respondents, was one of the biggest obstacles to implementing asynchronous learning (Camtasia Studio and Google Classroom apps). Despite some limitations in their online course, Camtasia Studio and Google Classroom offer greater benefits. Many of the respondents thought that their advantages outweighed their limitations. The majority of respondents believed that it helped EFL students improve their language learning, particularly in their writing abilities, and that it might also help students' ICT skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan efek YouTube terhadap prestasi kosakata siswa di kelas sebelas SMA Swasta Teladan Pematangsiantar tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Adapun metode penelitian ialah kuantitatif (eksperimen semu), yang terdidi dari dua kelas, yakni eksperimen dan kontrol. Populasi penelitian merupakan pelajar kelas XI SMA Swasta Teladan Pematangsiantar berjumlah 224 pelajar. Adapun sampel dalam penelitian dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling, yaitu kelas XI MIPA 2 (eskperimen) dan XI MIPA 3 (kontrol). Peneliti menggunakan rumus t-uji untuk menganalisis data kemudian menentukan apakah YouTube berpengaruh pada pencapaian kosakata siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata pre-test di eksperimen ialah 57,125 dan rata-rata post test ialah 83,5. Sedangkan di kelas kontrol, rata-rata pre-test ilah 60,125 dan rata-rata post-test ialah 74. Setelah dihitung rata-rata dari kedua kelas dan kemudian dihitung menggunakan rumus t-uji hasilnya adalah t-uji lebih tinggi dari t-tabel dengan taraf signifikansi 5% (4,52 >1,665). Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa YouTube berpengaruh terhadap pencapaian kosa kata para siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menemukan teknik guru untuk mengajar berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris untuk kelas 11 SMA Negeri 3 Pematang Siantar. Desain penelitian adalah kualitatif deskriptif di mana peneliti memperoleh data dengan observasi. Dalam mengumpulkan data melalui observasi, peneliti merekam seluruh kegiatan pembelajaran menggunakan kamera video. Data dari penelitian ini dikumpulkan dan diperoleh melalui pengamatan dan direkam melalui kamera video, lalu dituang ke dalam transkrip dan akhirnya menganalisis teknik guru. Subjek penelitian adalah guru bahasa Inggris dengan siswa kelas 11. Peneliti menemukan teknik yang relevan dan tidak relevan untuk mengajarkan berbicara bahasa Inggris. Empat teknik relevan yang digunakan oleh guru untuk mengajar berbicara adalah teknik permainan peran, teknik diskusi, teknik tanya jawab, dan teknik brainstorming. Pada akhirnya, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru menggunakan teknik-teknik mengajar, seperti permainan peran, diskusi, tanya jawab, dan brainstorming untuk meningkatkan kegiatan belajar sehingga siswa dapat menjadi aktif dalam berbicara dan mengungkapkan pendapat mereka selama proses belajar.

Abstract

This study was aimed to find out the Speaking Problems at Seven Grade of SMP Negeri 3 Junior High School Pematangsiantar. This study used descriptive qualitative research method. The respondents of this study were Junior High School Students at Seven Grade of SMP Negeri 3 Junior High School Pematangsiantar. The objective of this research is to find out the students' problems in speaking skill. This research instruments were interview and observation. Based on the results of the observation and interview, the students have problem in speaking. The problems were consisted of poor in grammar, lack of vocabulary and meaning, pronunciation, lack of confident, fear of making mistake, shyness and anxiety. From the problems the dominantly problems is pronunciation, vocabulary, shyness. To overcome this problem, teachers need to use several ways or to have strategies such as using talking stick, role play, choosing interesting topic, etc. This research can facilitate the teachers in knowing the problems in speaking faced by the students.
