Abstract

The title of this research is about the translation problem on translating complaint expressions in the film Descendants. The purpose of this research is to find the problems which shown when the translator uses one of the method in translation. The theory which is used in the analysis is the translation theory by Newmark. The data of this analysis is taken from film Descendants in twoversions that are English and Indonesian Version. There are 12 data which consist of complaint utterances from male characters. The conclusion of this research is complaint utterances which mostly used statement, there are 4 complaint utterances which is translated uses semantic translation method. Because the translator wants to hold the meaning based on the context of story and originality.

Abstract

Poetry/poem as one of a literary works is definitely an interesting subject to be analyzed. In a poem there are some elements that are valuable as an analysis source. One of them is Imagery. Imagery is used in a poem to help the readers in understanding and comprehending the whole poem because through imagery the readers can imagine every word, they are reading in the poem so they can see, feel, touch, hear, taste and smell the thing that is described by the speaker/poet. Literary work also can be analyzed by its extrinsic elements which is literary criticism or multi disciplines. One of phenomenal literary criticism is psychoanalytic perspective. Through psychoanalytic perspective the work of literature reveals the psychoanalytic aspect of the depth true feeling of the author. The purpose of this analysis is to know what kinds of imagery contained in Dover Beach poem written by Matthew Arnold. The method of this analysis is using descriptive and qualitative methods by reading and underlining the line and stanza contains imagery and every line and stanza reveals the psychoanalytic aspect. The result of this analysis is the writer finds out there are some imagery contained in Dover Beach poem. Dover Beach poem contains Visual Imagery, Olfactory Imagery, Auditory Imagery, Kinesthetic Imagery, and Organic Imagery. In Dover Beach poem are found some of psychoanalytic aspects such as unconscious and the id, ego, and superego in Dover Beach poem

Abstract

The research is to know liberal feminism of main characters that occur in Mirror Mirror movie. Based on the problems it can be formulated into the general research question; How is the role a liberal feminism in the movie, how is the gender equality appear in the mirror mirror movie, how is the influence of a liberal feminism in the mirror mirror movie based on sociological approach. Descriptive qualitative method is used to do the research, in which the data is analyzed through the used of the dialogue and picture. To get information means collect the data like watching the movie and searching the related literature. Learn, collect, and summarize the redesign reference books related to the preparation of this to get data and information as needed. Analysis of mirror mirror movie used by Hollow’s theory for the liberal feminism in the mirror mirror movie. Mulia’s theory for the gender equality appear in the the mirror mirror movie. Mooney, knox, and Schacht for the liberal feminism based on sociological approach. Finding the data analysis are: (1) the role a liberal feminism is the movie is the natural biological traits of men and women. (2) gender equality shows cultural concepts that appear the role, behavior, mentality, and emotional characteristic between men and women. (3) the influence of a liberal feminism based on sociological approach are the symbolic interactionism, functionalism, and conflict theory.

Abstract

The research is aimed at finding out the social dimension of slang words which is uttered in film Animal Kingdom. The writer uses film as the main medium to analyze the construction of social dimension in slang utterance. The method of this study is descriptive content analysis. Data were collected with pursued based on unit analysis, identification, coding, and classification. The procedure of data analysis and interpretation adapted pattern made by Phillip Myring.. Some problems will be analyzed in this thesis are the social factors and social dimension can influence the use of slang. In this analysis, the writer finds that slang usually used in an informal situation and in the certain social class of society. The use of slang relates with social factors that consist of the participant, setting, topic, and function meanwhile social dimension affected it in social distance scale, status scale, formality scale, and two functional scales.
