Abstract

In the era of advanced technology, the use of computer in many aspects has been the part of our life. Moreover, computer has been used in the field of education. The use of computer in teaching and learning has many benefits, not only for the teachers but also the students. So does with English. It has been a compulsory subject in many levels of education. In fact, there are many methods of teaching English that can be used. Using the direct method, especially internet or other aplications by computer or android, can be one of the creative ways to create an enjoyable and fun atmosphere of teaching and learning English.

Abstract

Students have a different pattern in using the learning strategy. It is seen in their activity when they do the writing. The objective of this research was to observe the students’ pattern using metacognitive strategy in English Academic Writing learning through an online zoom application. The method used descriptive qualitative research. The data is taken from observation and survey from 20 participants who got the English academic writing subject in 2019/2020 academic years at English Program Study Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika. Analysis procedures include observation of activity patterns, identifying learning strategy patterns, categorizing, and strategy learning pattern analysis. The results showed that the students used metacognitive strategy in the academic writing process with different patterns. It can see from activity steps of the metacognitive strategy that is implemented in the class. Students’ activity pattern is planning, identifying, correcting errors, revising, rereading, monitoring, and evaluating. Metacognitive strategies had used by students to consciously control the writing activity because each segment of one’s stored world knowledge help students to create the story. The study's implication is managing students’ activity patterns when the teacher used the strategy learning. It has to be appropriate to students’ needs.

Abstract

The development of internet technology is so rapidly today many gave birth to various types of social media. Social media is becoming very popular because it provides easiness in communication. In terms of marketing activities, social media applications have an important role, especially in the dissemination of information and promotion. In addition to easier, do marketing through social media applications faster and cheaper. In this research case study was conducted at MIN 18 Jakarta. The study used descriptive-qualitative method, where this method describes the phenomena that exist in accordance with the current state of research. Social media is very useful for schools, this application is very useful in the dissemination of information and promotion. The development of internet technology that also impact on the development of social media is quite well utilized by MIN 18 Jakarta as a means of dissemination of information and promotion.

Abstract

Metode digital learning memberikan kemudahan dan kelancaran proses belajar-mengajar bagi siswa dan guru. Dengan metode digital learning, guru dapat meningkatkan intensitas komunikasi interaktif dengan siswa di luar jam kelas resmi. Metode digital learning memberikan fleksibilitas kepada pengajar untuk memberikan akses kepada siswa untuk mendapatkan referensi ilmiah yang berkaitan dengan pelajaran yang mungkin tidak diperoleh selama jam sekolah dan kegiatan praktikum. Referensi ini bisa berupa makalah ilmiah, artikel populer, atau buku elektronik. Hal ini akan sangat berguna bagi siswa, karena selain meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada setiap mata pelajaran, referensi metode pembelajaran melalui media elektronik dapat menjadi salah satu cara menarik perhatian siswa sehingga pembelajaran menjadi flexibel, dinamis, kompeten dan antisipatif sesuai dengan misi SMK Pancakarya Tangerang. Jadi semoga di masa depan, lulusan SMK Pancakarya Tangerang, akan memiliki kualitas dan daya saing yang tinggi dalam persaingan global terutama dalam bidang Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi (IPTEK).

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to investigate the use of Google Classroom in improving reading comprehension, how students’ perceptions when engaging with Google Classroom in the learning process, and what obstacles encountered in implementing it. The methodology applied in this study is mixed-method, including both quantitative and qualitative methods which are conducted among 27 students on grade XI of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 4 Jakarta. While the data was collected by reading comprehension tests, interviewing students, and filling the questionnaire to gain their perceptions about Google Classroom. The result showed that using Google classroom could improve students’ scores on reading comprehension; this indicated by comparing pre-test and post-test. Regarding students’ perceptions of using Google Classroom, it revealed that some students still preferred to study in the classroom since they could interact directly and easily with the teacher. Contrary, some of them would choose learning by Google Classroom because it is more interesting and easier to access whenever and whatever they are. The obstacles were encountered in the learning processes are such as unstable internet connection in the school and unskilled teachers to operate the application. Therefore, using technology has to consider the devices and sophisticated equipment to support a better system in the learning process. Besides, the humans to operate the system should be trained well in order for the learning process is going smoothly.

Abstract

Tujuan_ Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi minat pemanfaatan sistem informasi dan pengaruhnya terhadap penggunaan sistem informasi dengan menguji model UTAUT yang diajukan oleh Venkatesh et al.,(2003).Desain/Metode_ Data yang digunakan penelitian ini diperoleh dari persepsi individu pemakai sistem informasi pada perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Jakarta. Data dikumpulkan melalui mail survey. Sebanyak 83 kuesioner kembali dari 300 yang dikirim dan hanya 60 kuesioner yang dapat diolah. Analisa data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik regresi berganda.Temuan_Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekspektasi kinerja dan ekspektasi usaha dan faktor sosial berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap minat pemanfaatan sistem informasi. Kondisi-kondisi yang memfasilitas pemakai berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap penggunaan sistem informasi dan minat pemanfaatan sistem informasi tidak berpengaruh terhadap penggunaan sistem informasi.Implikasi_ Para peneliti selanjutnya dapat mempertimbangkan untuk menggunakan variabel penelitian yang berasal dari faktor intrinsik pemakai SI. Hal ini perlu dilakukan karena sebagai pemakai SI justru mereka yang menentukan apakah suatu SI dapat beroperasi dengan baik sehingga menghasilkan manfaat bagi pemakai dan institusi yang menyediakannya.Originalitas_Merupakan Pengujian model UTAUT menurut persepsi pengguna Tipe Penelitian_Studi EmpirisKata Kunci: ekspektasi kinerja, ekspektasi usaha, faktor sosial, kondisi-kondisi yang memfasilitasi pemakai, minat pemanfaatan sistem informasi dan penggunaan sistem informasi

Abstract

Emotional Intelligence and students’ speaking skills are correlated. This research aims to examine the effects of Emotional Intelligence on students’ speaking skills. The observed population of this research was the XII graders students of the State Senior High Schools in East Jakarta. The sample was taken using simplerandom sampling technique. The data were garnered from questionnaire, objective test, and oral test for both variables. The gained data were then analyzed by using correlation formula and multiple regressions. The empirical evidence showed that there was a significant effect of Emotional Intelligence on the students’speaking skills given the Sig value 0.000 and t observed=4.375. Since Sig value was less than 0.05 and t observed was higher than t-table, it indicated that H0 was rejected, which means that H1 was accepted. It illustrated that there was a significant effect of independent variable X (emotional intelligence) on the dependentvariable Y (student’s speaking skills).

Abstract

Learning foreign language has been the part of our educational systems. It has been taught from the early stage of education. However, there are still many difficulties in learning. And there are many challenges for the teachers to make it as a fun learning. This research aims is examine how can the interactive games can help the students to understand about questions tags better and can be used in the daily conversation. Meanwhile, the observed population that was used for the research was the students of English For All (EFA) English Course in Cirendeu, Tangerang Banten. The students were Junior High School students. The writers used the descriptive qualitative methods as using interactive games which was using oral test and conversation activities to learn how much their improvement in understanding about question tags. Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out the politeness strategies used by the teachers and students, and how the politeness affects to the student’s compliance. The focus is on directive and expressive speech acts in English for Foreign Language (EFL) Class. The subjects of this study were three lecturers and the students of three English classes. In data collecting procedure, the researcher used observation techniques. The observation was used to record the audio and video of teaching and learning process from the beginning until the end of the class. The audio-record of teaching and learning process will be transcribed into convention transcript, and then the transcript will be selected and classified into ten maxims in doing politeness strategies.  The analytical part adopts the viewpoints of Leech’s (2014) “The Components Maxims of the General Strategy of Politeness”. In the data analysis, it is found that 1) the teachers used ten maxims in their communication to the students. They are tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim agreement maxim, Obligation (of S to O) maxim, sympathy maxim, modest maxim, Obligation (of O to S) maxim, Opinion reticence maxim, and feeling reticence maxim. 2) The lecturers dominantly used tact maxim in their directive speech acts to the students. The last part of this paper aims at summarizing the implications that this paper, its theoretical summary, and its research, have for teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) class.

Abstract

This study discusses the humanity values contained in the characters War for Planet of The Apes movie. This analysis uses method of qualitative data. This study uses two kinds of data. Firstly, the primary data is from the literary work itself, War for Planet of the Apes.The secondary data such as theory books, previous studies, and journals. The data analyzed is taken from the player’s remarks in War for Planet of The Apes movie. The theory taken to discuss human values is Hardiman's theory. Hardiman said there are six of humanism values, they are (1) appreciate opinions, (2) cooperation, (3) sacrafice, (4) care about others, (5) helping, and (6) solidarity. The results of this analysis are humanitarian values that arise in the main character in terms of human nature, and how the value of humanity is realized in real life. There are four humanism values that contained in the movie, namely (1) cooperation, (2) care about others, (3) sacrifice, and (4) helping. Penelitian ini membahas tentang nilai kemanusiaan yang terdapat pada karakter dalam film War for Planet of The Apes. Metode yang dilakukan dalam menganalisis adalah kualitatif data. Pertama, data primer adalah War for Planet of The Apes. Dan data kedua seperti buku teori, pelajaran sebelumnya dan jurnal. Data yang dianalisis diambil dari ucapan pemain dalam film War for Planet of The Apes. Teori yang diambil untuk membahas nilai-nilai kemanusiaan adalah teori Hardiman. Hardiman berpendapat bahwa ada enam nilai kemanusiaan, yaitu (1) kebebasan berpendapat,(2) kerjasama, (3) rela berkorban, (4) peduli terhadap sesama, (5) menolong, dan (6) solidaritas. Hasil dari analisis ini adalah nilai-nilai kemanusiaan yang timbul pada karakter utama dalam hal sifat humanisnya, dan bagaimana nilai kemanusiaan ini terealisasikan dalam kehidupan nyata. Nilai kemanusiaan yang terdapat dalam film tersebut ada empat, yaitu (1) kerjasama, (2) peduli terhadap sesama, (3) rela berkorban, dan (4) menolong. Kata Kunci: Film, Karakter Utama, Nilai-Nilai Kemanusiaan
