Abstract

As we know that history is series of events that occurred which its presence must be motivated by specific causes. History does not appear immediately and stand alone without anyone arousing it. It can be said that history has a prologue and epilogue, because not all of the events that happened in the past can be recorded by history. In this topic being discussed, a crusade became the reality of the history of mankind, which had taken more or less for two hundred years. The War was the greatest conflict of two religions in the world which was between Islam that held the power at that time in part of Europe, North Africa and Asia, against the followers of Christianity who tried to seize the city of Jerusalem, which at that time ruled by Islam, the postscript is a holy city for them. Islam and Christianity are the major religions in the world that their religious teachings heavily loaded with the values of peace, tolerance and social relationships. Both in the Qur'an and Gospel, there are a lot of passages of calls for tolerance, peace and social relations. This creates a question, why the war should happen, in terms of Islam encountered in a call for dialogue with the People of the Book in a good way, as well as in Christianity which is expressed as a neighbor. Islam also considers that the Christians are a people who are closest to the Islamic ummah, and both religions actually are brothers, free from hostility and enmity.

Abstract

The question and answer method is an effort that can be applied by teachers in learning activities to increase student activity. Student activeness is a problem that is often encounter in learning activities. Learning that is carried out online also has the same problem, namely, students tend to be inactive during learning. Based on the results of observations and teaching practices conducted in grades 7, 8, and 9, it was found that student activity was a problem that often occurred during the online learning process. This was seen from the lack of students responding to teacher messages in the telegram group so that the learning activities seem passive. Through these problems, the purpose of writing this paper is to describe the use of the question and answer method as an effort to increase student activeness in the online learning process. Thus, the role of Christian teachers as facilitators is very necessary to strive for student activeness by using the question and answer method in online learning. The research method was descriptive qualitative. The results of the application of the question and answer method in online learning were quite effective in increasing student activity so that teachers and students have sufficient interaction and communication. To fulfill the role of a Christian teacher as a facilitator, teachers need to equip themselves with pedagogical elements that are in accordance with teacher competency standards.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe Service Learning approach is one of the methods in the learning process for Civics Education courses at Pelita Harapan University, responding to challenges as general, boring, and monotonous teaching methods. The motto of Service Learning at UPH is “100 percent serve and 100 percent learn”.This approach aims to be able to form the personality of the younger generation who are able to manage emotions, can work in a work team, and have an honorable identity. In addition, it has invited the community to take an active role in the world of education. All these processes can be done via virtual. Through reciprocal and routine communication between students, lecturers, partners, and online services are able to turn on a new atmosphere in the learning process during the learn of home period. In the new normal era, the Service Learning approach is very helpful in increasing the enthusiasm for student learning due to drastic changes in the way of life that must only learn from home via virtually. Students are very enthusiastic about their work and feel proud because they can help the community during the covid 19 pandemic. Service Learning activities are actualized in the form of videos and make self-reflection. Through self-reflection, students express their joy and pride about what they are doing in the new normal.Keywords: The Service Learning approach, Video, Self ReflectionAbstrakPendekatan Service Learning menjadi salah satu metode dalam proses pembelajaran  mata kuliah Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan di Universitas Pelita Harapan, menjawab tantangan sebagai mata kuliah umum, membosankan, dan metode mengajar yang monoton. Moto Service Learning di UPH adalah “100 persen serve dan 100 persen learn”.  Pendekatan ini bertujuan membentuk pribadi generasi muda yang mampu menyelesaikan masalah, menata emosi, bisa bekerja dalam sebuah tim kerja, dan memiliki kehormatan identitas.  Selain itu mengajak masyarakat ikut serta berperan aktif dalam dunia pendidikan. Mahasiswa aktif bekerja dalam kelompok, meskipun berbentuk virtual. Melalui komunikasi timbal balik dan rutin antar mahasiswa, mahasiswa dengan dosen dan mitra, serta mencari jasa layanan online seperti penjualan online dan serta grab atau gojek mampu menghidupkan suasana baru dalam proses pembelajaran di masa  “learn of home”. Di era new normal, pendekatan Service Learning sangat membantu menambah semangat belajar mahasiswa akibat perubahan drastis cara hidup yang harus belajar dari rumah secara “virtual” saja. Melalui projek Service Learning, mahasiswa sangat antusias berkarya dan merasa bangga karena dapat membantu masyarakat di masa pandemi covid 19. Kegiatan Service Learning diaktualkan dalam bentuk video dan membuat refleksi diri. Melalui refleksi diri, mahasiswa menuangkan kegembiraan dan kebanggaan tentang apa yang dilakukan di masa new normal.Kata Kunci : pendekatan, service learning, video, refleksi

Abstract

Discipline is an important aspect that every student should have, to achieve the learning objectives. Discipline, however, is often found as a problem in the classroom. This problem was found in grade VIII SMP Lentera Harapan Lampung Tengah students in Integrated IPS subjects. To solve the problem, in this research applied reward and punish to improve student discipline of class VIII. The reward form applied is in the form of praise, tape reward, and sign strengthening (certificate), while the punish form is the cutting of time and cost to be paid, with modifications called 'red box'. The methodology used in this research is Classroom Action Research method. The subjects of the study were students of class VIII with a total of 14 people, consisting of 11 men and 3 women. The results of the study on student discipline levels obtained from this study is the first cycle 69.8%, 83.4% and third cycle 93.8%. It can be concluded that the application of reward and punish can improve the discipline in Integrated Social Science subjects in the seventh grade students of SMP Lentera Harapan Lampung Tengah.DOI: 10.17977/um022v3i12018p053

Abstract

The learning objectives of Pancasila and Citizenship should be used as a way in increasing nationalism, and that form of nationalism should be embodied in concerning of public policy. Every Indonesian citizen participates in increasing society’s life which is fair, peaceful, and prosperous in Pancasila and Citizenship subject, the researcher asks the students to make LOC (Letter of Concern) video which should be uploaded on YouTube. The authorities are also expected to be able in taking wise public decisions. This research method is using literature study that is finding theory reference which is relevant with a case or problems that is found. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the education system, namely new normal learning; therefore, a contextual learning model is needed in accordance with the needs students, namely Gen-Z. The research method uses the literature reviews obtained through books, articles, and journals. The results of the research are that social studies-history learning in the new normal era is a new challenge for teachers, where they have to make use of social media in dealing with the generation that is close to the Internet, which results in shaping their character as the generation that is creative, innovative, and broad-minded. Therefore, learning provided is student-centered learning, and involves learning conducted online or offline. This research concludes that in building the social studies-history learning system for Gen-Z in this new normal situation, it requires a change in the curriculum that is flexible, innovative, and creative, and according to the students’ model called Gen-Z.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to discuss a Christian teacher’s calling in response to the great commission of Jesus Christ in building character in digital era. The main task of a teacher in the context of Christian education is to assist students in knowing God in Jesus Christ and being like Christ in their daily lives. Christian teachers become co-workers with God in conveying the values of His kingdom in a digital era that is filled with individualism, selfishness, and self-righteousness, all of which lead to the loss of love. The teaching that is delivered by Christian teachers can bring students to God’s truth which will affect students’ character, intellect, and spirituality. These not only help students but can also be used to serve and help other people to face the challenges of this digital era.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk membahas panggilan guru Kristen sebagai wujud amanat agung Yesus Kristus dalam penanaman nilai pada era digital. Tugas utama seorang guru dalam konteks pendidikan Kristen adalah membantu para siswa untuk belajar mengenal Allah di dalam Yesus Kristus dan melalui firmanNya. Mereka dapat menjadi serupa dengan Kristus dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Oleh sebab itu penting sekali mahasiswa menangkap panggilanNya sebagai Guru Kristen, karena dengan demikian akan menjadi rekan sekerja Allah dalam menyampaikan nilai-nilai kerajaanNya di era digital yang sarat dengan egoisme, mementingkan diri sendiri, bahkan merasa diri benar, sehingga kasih menjadi pudar. Dengan demikian, pengajaran yang disampaikan guru Kristen akan membawa para siswa memiliki nilai-nilai kebenaran yang justru kembali kepadaTuhan dan berpusat kepada Kristus, yang berdampak kepada pertumbuhan karakter intelektual, spiritual, intelegensi tidak hanya menjadi kebanggaan sendiri melainkan dipakai untuk melayani dan menolong orang lain dalam menghadapi era digital ini.

Abstract

Classes that are conducive to support teaching and learning activities to achieve learning objectives that have been designed in such a way. But conducive classes also need the role of students as objects of learning. Students who are disciplined can create a conducive and comfortable classroom atmosphere for learning and fluency for teachers in conveying learning. The purpose of this paper is to describe the appropriate actions of the teacher when there are students who are not disciplined when learning takes place. The right course of action as a teacher is to show loving, gentle behavior and there is no need to use violence. By doing violence will not change the behavior of students for the better but instead makes students worse. As a teacher must be creative in overcoming problems and smart in choosing learning methods. The teacher becomes a shepherd who guides God's sheep to their homes, so they do not get lost. With love, we should guide each student to be able to return to God and be able to have an attitude that is obedient, responsible, and able to respond well to every education given. So as a suggestion, it is best to avoid violent acts in disciplining students but take appropriate actions in which they radiate God's love.

Abstract

Rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap akses pendidikan dan pengelolaan keuangan menyebabkan mereka tidak mampu memperolah pendidikan yang layak. UPH-TC bersama dengan Bimbel Ceria Ceria bekerja sama menyediakan sarana pembelajaran yang kondusif. Kegiatan ini bertujuan agar para siswa yang bermukim di Ubud-Karawaci, memperoleh pendidikan yang layak dan orang tua mendapatkan pemahaman tentang parenting dan keuangan. Metode yang digunakan bagi orang tua berupa sosialisasi parenting dan perencanaan keuangan, dan pendampingan belajar siswa oleh para mahasiswa sebagai tutor dengan metode pembelajaran kreatif. Hasil dari kegiatan ini melalui sosialisasi parenting, prinsip keuangan serta kewirausahaan yang dilakukan para dosen, orang tua diharapkan mampu mendidik anak dan mengelola keuangan dengan benar, bagi mahasiswa calon guru diharapkan mampu berelasi dengan masyarakat menjadi lebih baik dan kemampuan mengajar mereka meningkat. Sedangkan bagi siswa agar mereka mengerti materi yang diajarkan di sekolah serta dapat dengan baik dalam pengerjaan pekerjaan rumah.

Abstract

Home care and education at school are important pillars of child development. Economic conditions, geographical position, educational background of parents, and the stigma that develops in society towards women who do not need to be highly educated have a significant effect on parenting patterns, especially mother-to-child care. In fact, not all Indonesian children receive proper care. Data from the National Service Agency (KOMNAS) for Children in 2006 showed that there were still 1,124 violence against children, 433 children experienced physical violence and 106 experienced psychological violence. Various bad facts about the concern for Indonesian children have encouraged UPH Lecturers to contribute in community service to provide training for parents of students at Bimbingan Belajar Ceria Karawaci , Tangerang. They come from families with low levels of education and difficulties. It is hoped that this training activity can provide insight into their parents and have an impact on the mindset of the community around Bimbingan Belajar Ceria regarding proper parenting for their children. Various efforts were made in community service in Bimbingan Belajar Ceria, stated in this paper. This paper aims to share awareness about the parental training efforts that have been carried out by Pelita Harapan University lecturers, with the hope of forming a smart and stable society. The result of this community service are the parents get many parental skills and the feedback are positive even they want this program to be continued and give more knowledge for them.
