Abstract

Village is the smallest territorial space in Indonesia with a complex socio-economic problem. For this reason, the village SDGs was born as a micro-based global development agenda expected to realize village development efficiently. This program has the main objective of “No One Left Behind” with 18 main objectives that cover all levels of society. Among the best ideas in the 18 goals, the conclusion is still focused on sustainable village development through eradicating lower-class social issues with upper-class support. Then the question arises, "What is the role of the middle class, and how do they adapt to these 18 goals?". This study uses a mixed explanatory design method and quantitative and qualitative methods. The phenomena that occur are studied and analyzed through sequential techniques to conclude that the adaptation pattern of the middle-class community is distinguished based on their response to the village SDGs program.

Abstract

The phenomenon of hoaxes as fake news is mostly constructed through social media in this era. The sites that produce and spread hoaxes or fake news are relatively high in several big cities in Indonesia, especially Bandung, the capital of West Java. A large number of false reports have made the public uneasy. The hoax news is not only consumed by the general public but also among universities. This study aims to determine how the hoax model spread among Muslim students in Islamic universities in Bandung. This research uses a qualitative approach. The data was collected by applying in-depth interviews and documentation studies to explore the focus of the research. This study found several facts, namely: first, most of the students often received hoaxes, even some students had also been hoax makers and spreaders. Second, the spread of hoaxes is carried out through social media in line with information technology development. Third, there are 3 (three) patterns of hoax spreading among Islamic university students, namely (1) the pattern of cyclization or distribution carried out within certain groups; (2) general public distribution patterns; (3) a break pattern, in which the dissemination of information stops to the authorities. Besides, the campus needs support in strengthening digital literacy practices and comprehensive verification (tabayun) efforts for students, and serious handling of the government.

Abstract

This research examines how the cadre phenomenon as a group determines the success of a sustainable development program in rural areas. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Research data collection was carried out through observation and in-depth interviews with development cadres, government apparatus, community leaders, youth leaders, religious leaders, and the community in the 3 (three) research villages, namely Cidenok Village, Sumberjaya Village, and Garawangi Village, which all three are part of Sumberjaya District, Majalengka Regency, West Java Indonesia. This study found that cadres are one of the determining groups for the success of sustainable development programs in rural areas. The participation of cadres is seen not only in aspects of the government but also in community activities. Cadres who have fast, active, and good adaptation and apply core values can be trusted by the community in disseminating development information and inviting active participation. The success of sustainable development goals (SDGs) in rural areas requires the role of stakeholders both horizontally and vertically between the community and the government. This study concludes that the involvement of cadre groups has a significant role in the successful implementation of the sustainable development program in rural areas.

Abstract

This study departs from a problem in the application of social capital in community empowerment activities in urban and rural areas in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the application model that is applied in community empowerment in urban and rural areas. The method used in this research is in-depth interviews with facilitators and community members who are the subject of empowerment. This study finds that social capital can be built when individuals can trust others, so they can make responsible commitments to build mutually beneficial relationships. The exchange of information that is facilitated by social networks to interact ultimately contributes to creating trust between them. This belief is closely related to cultural roots, especially those related to applicable ethics and morals. Therefore, the degree of mutual trust in society cannot be separated from the cultural values of the community concerned. Social families and belief groups can grow an economy where trust is correlated with economic growth. This study concludes that the application of social capital in urban and rural empowerment relies on the model of cooperation that is built, the use of networks and the development of positive values in society.

This This study aims to determine the development of social values in madrasah students. This research was conducted in the area of West Java, Banten and DKI Jakarta. The research was conducted on madrasah students with the proportion at primary, Yunior High School and Senior High School. This study found that character development among madrasah students has effectiveness by developing models of developing character education in the form of teaching, habituation, imitation, motivation and enforcement of rules. Social values are taught in every activity, both in the madrasa and in the Islamic boarding school for those under the Islamic boarding school. Values education is oriented towards improving the character and attitudes of students in social life. The instilled social values also vary, including religious values, independence values, and responsibility values. The application of value education has effectiveness in strategy, program, process, and evaluation and has an integral form where one element with the other has a multiplayer effect. The elements that exist are theoretically inseparable so that the success of a character education in Islamic boarding schools is shown by the synergy of these elements.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the religious movement of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) when adopting new media in its movement activities in Indonesia. The research in this paper uses a qualitative method with data collection through online observation of the HTI website, Media Umat www.mediaumat.id. This research found that HTI as a religious movement also adopted the internet in its movement activities just like other religious movements, namely NU and Muhammadiyah. HTI's use of the internet also refutes the argument that the internet is incompatible with religion, which is based more on secularization arguments. The internet in fact provides new opportunities that are positively welcomed by the religious community, which makes it part of its culture according to its needs and interests. This religious response can be seen in HTI's use of the internet which can be categorized into three forms: ideological, polemical and contextual. All these forms of internet use show the positive impact of the internet for religion and the ability of religion to become part of modernity for its interests and needs by adapting the internet as a product of modernity.
