Abstract

Kekuatan struktur konstruksi sangat berpengaruh pada tingkat keselamatan kapal baik pada kondisi laut yang tenang, bergelombang bahkan di atas dok . LCT (landing craft tank) adalah jenis kapal laut yang dirancang untuk mengangkut tank dan unit konstruksi berbobot ekstrim per unitnya. Konstruksi geladak tank menerima beban baik statis dan dinamis yang dipengaruhi oleh percepatan akibat dinamika kapal. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui beban yang bekerja pada tank deck, menganalisis respon struktur geladak terhadap beban serta mengetahui umur struktur geladak tersebut. Analisis ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode elemen hingga dengan bantuan AnsysTM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tegangan izin tercapai pada percepatan 17,6 m/s2 yang terletak di ujung pelat yang merupakan kontak antara pelat dek dengan pelat sekat melintang dengan panjang 600 mm. Pada percepatan 17,6 m/s2, struktur geladak akan mengalami kelelahan pada umur 7,882 tahun.

Abstract

Abstract The islands located in an area of about 160.000 sq km in southern part of Sulawesi,  consist of 5 regencies. There are 5 big islands (more than 150 sq km each)  in this area. The economic level of these islands is still low and, therefor,  can not afford the commercial transportation tariff. Since 1974 the government of Indonesia has provided so called pioneer shipping (subsidized financially by government) in order to improve accessibility of these islands. So far, the economic level of population of these islands has not much improved. The pioneer ships are general cargo type (coaster), with long distance trips (average 1.660 sea mile) and take about 18 days for a round trip. The determination of shipping routes for servicing less developed islands are made without any deep analysis. This paper began with analysis of selecting ports in order to improve routes of the pioneer ships. To determiny an optimum sea transportation services into the area, the shipping should be classified in regional pioneer routes (main regional feeder), secondary regional feeder, and people shipping. This study found out that the total 22 ports in the area can be divided to 3 categories (hierarchy), 2 regional ports, 7 regional main ports, and 8 secondary regional feeder ports, and 5 people shipping ports.  Keywords: port hierarchy, pioneer shipping, remote islands.

Abstract

Brace dan kaki struktur menjadi perhatian penting dalam merencanakan struktur helideck. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghitung kekuatan kaki struktur helideck terhdap variasi brace dalam menahan beban pedaratan darurat helikopter. Lokasi penelitian dilakukakn di laboratorium Struktur Departemen Perkapalan, Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Hasanuddin. Data yang digunakan adalah struktur helideck FSO Geudondong PT.Pertamina shipping Indonesia corporation. Perhitungan tegangan dan pemodelan struktur menggunakan software SACS, analisis pendaratan darurat helikopter dibagi menjadi tiga arah pendaratan yaitu arah transversal, logitudinal dan arah diagonal. Dalam mencari dimensi kaki yang optimal maka dilakukan pengurangan tebal dan diameter kaki struktur helideck sebesar 10%, 20%, 30% dan 40% dengan empat variasi model brace yaitu brace X, K, N dan Y. Hasil perhitungan tegangan maksimum yang bekerja terjadi pada posisi pendartan diagonal pada posisi D4 dengan tegangan kerja sebesar 49,86 N/mm2 dan nilai IR 0,45. Interaksi rasio (IR) yang terjadi pada kaki struktur pada pengurangan dimensi 40% sebesar (brace X = 0,99), (brace K =1,19), (brace N = 1,04), (brace Y = 1,03). Model brace yang paling lemah dalam menahan beban pendaratan darurat helikopter adalah model brace K dengan (IR = 1,19) dan model brace yang paling kuat adalah adalah brace X dengan IR = 0,99.

Abstract

Seiring dengan meningkatnya permintaan akan kapal kayu tradisional dengan ukuran besar hingga 400 GT dan panjang 50 m khususnya dalam mendukung kegiatan perikanan, transportasi barang dan penumpang antar pulau dan kapal wisata perairan. Hal ini menjadikan kemampuan olah gerak kapal kayu sangat penting, khususnya dalam perancangan daun kemudi. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan keterampilan dalam penentuan dimensi dan desain daun kemudi kapal secara sederhana pada kelompok pengrajin kapal kayu di Desa Tanah Lemo Kecamatan Bontobahari Kabupaten Bulukumba. Metode yang dipergunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah applied theory sehubungan dengan penentuan dimensi daun kemudi sebagai peralatan kendali kapal. Kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan ini telah dilangsungkan pada tanggal 19 September 2019 dengan hasil: i) Metode applied theory yang dipergunakan dalam pengabdian ini sangat cocok untuk meningkatkan skill para pengrajin kapal kayu tradisional; ii) Melalui pengukuran langsung dimensi luasan daun kemudi kapal kayu diperoleh hasil dengan perbedaan rata-rata sebesar 8,9% jika dibanding dengan mengunakan persamaan sederhana (pers. 1) dalam penentuan luasan daun kemudi sebagaimana persamaan yang umum digunakan dalam bidang teknik perkapalan.

Abstract

Generally, people who live along the coast of Jeneponto regency do the seaweed cultivation both in group or in person. One of the group is Pattontongan city group in the area of Pattontongan, Binamu subdistrict. They used both wooden boat and FRP boat for the activities. Of the latter, they got their FRP boat from the Indonesian government as it to expensive to buy them in person. In order to maintain their FRP boat, a training for repairing their FRP boat have been conducted by the team of lecturers from the Departmen of Naval Architecture Engineering Faculty, Unhas for the group. To improve their skills, a further training have been conducted recently as well. The training focus on how to build the FRP boat from beginning. The result of the training shows that the participants which are the seaweed farmers are being able to 1) read a boat design, 2) transfer the boat design into full scale design, 3) make the boat mould, 4) layering the boat using hand lay-up method. By being able to do all those activities, the seaweed farmers have improved their skills of making the FRP boat. The skills have opened an opportunity for the seaweed farmers to increase their well being by getting an order of repairing and building FRP boat.

Abstract

The “Karya Bersama” Fishermen Group is one of the fishermen groups in Galesong Kota Village, Galesong District, and Takalar Regency who uses fiberglass boats for fishing activities. The fiberglass boats used are very helpful for fishermen in increasing their catch. Based on field observations, it was found that several fiberglass boats belonging to partners were damaged. The damage to the fiberglass boats they use cannot be avoided due to the unclean waters of the fishing location and the large waves. They cannot do proper fiberglass boat repair independently because their knowledge and skills in fiberglass boat repair techniques are still low. This service activity aims to improve partners' knowledge and skills in fiberglass boat repair techniques. The activity was carried out in two stages, namely 1) Counseling about fiberglass material technology, types of damage to fiberglass boats and repair techniques. 2) Fiberglass boat repair training. Evaluation of the increase in participants' knowledge was carried out by means of a pre-test and post-test after counseling. Evaluation of participants' skills is carried out during hands-on training. The results of the activity showed that 90% of the 10 participants who took part in the training had good knowledge of fiberglass materials and fiberglass boat repair techniques and were able to properly repair damaged fiberglass boats.

Abstract

Generally, seaweed farmers on the Jeneponto coast, including the Pattontongan City seaweed farmer group, use the long line method instead of other seaweed cultivation methods. Alternative cultivation methods need to be introduced to increase their production capacity. One of the methods that can be offered to the farmers is the floating cage method. The development of the floating cage method by several researchers has revealed that seaweed's average growth rate is much better when compared with the long-line method. Initial attempts to introduce this method were carried out in the form of training by showing the shape or model of a floating cage and how to assemble it. Training is carried out online and offline. Online is used during material description while offline when the floating cage structure is assembled, launched, and anchored. The floating cage structure uses PVC as its material, while the adhesive bonding technique is used to connect the structural components. The floating cage model's characteristics have the dimensions of 2 x 2 x 0.5 meters, with a buoyancy of 0.13 m3, the structure weight of 43.18 kg, and the displacement of 134.23 kg. After attending this training, participants were able to (1) read the floating cage design, (2) mark (full scale) and cut the PVC pipe structure, (3) do the initial assembly and the final assembly in the form of splicing using adhesive bonding techniques, and (4) perform the process of launching and anchoring the floating cage structure. The skill of making their floating cage will save costs when they are about to apply the floating cage method instead of the long line method in their seaweed cultivation

Abstract

Transformation in ship geometry and the development of alternative materials to replace wood will certainly have an impact on the weight of construction, these changes will certainly affect the center of gravity and ship draft, such as wooden ships with steel frames which are made by wooden ship craftsmen in Takalar Regency, after being replaced with steel frame, laden increases with an increase in the draft will affect the hydrostatic characteristics of the ship and the ship's center of gravity, the change, of course, has an impact on the stability of the ship, so an inclining test is needed, so that wooden ship craftsmen can understand the relationship between ship geometry and ship weight. Therefore, in an effort to increase the knowledge of wooden ship craftsmen, inclining test training is a solution and is proposed for community service activities with method of presenting material and practicing directly on ships, the results of this training craftsmen are able to understand the emphasis on steel-constructed wooden ships in relation to life safety at sea and skilled in inclining to test.

Abstract

As the main material, wood is required in the process of wooden ships building. The required wood must be water resistant especially for the construction of the ship wooden plank as well as wood in intact form for use on the keel of the ship to support the ship frames. It is increasingly difficult to obtain the required wood for the keel construction need since the requirements for the integrity of the keel construction which must continue throughout the ship. This condition threatens the sustainability of the wooden ship construction process in Indonesia. Hence, material alternative is urgently required for wood substitution for the ship keel. A study has been conducted with a recommendation of a steel keel (dimensions and shape of the keel) as a substitute for a wooden keel for certain ship dimensions. Socialization of this new technology needs to be done to wooden ship craftsmen in South Sulawesi in particular. The partners chosen in this activity were the member of the wooden boat craftsman group "Torani" in Galesong Kota District, Takalar Regency. The aim is to introduce steel material as a substitute for wood material in the wooden ship keel construction to overcome the difficulty of obtaining wood for the ship keel construction. The result shows that the majority of participants claim to have new knowledge and believe that it is possible to apply the technology to wooden ship construction. However, since the manufacture and installation of steel keels on wooden ships uses steel materials, the application of this technology will take a relatively longer time.

Abstract

The process of wooden boats building in a traditional wooden boat shipyards in South Sulawesi is still carried out in the traditional way. Their ship building expertise and techniques were passed down from generation to generation from their predecessors. Hence, the current method of building ships is still the same as their predecessors. However, the current craftsmen are using electrical equipment already to help to complete their work, such as electrical cutting machine for cutting wood, boards or pegs. As with their predecessors, in building their ships, they have not implemented occupational safety and healthy (OSH) in their ship building procedures. In an initial interviews with wooden ship craftsmen, it was found that several wooden ship craftsmen had experienced work accidents which resulted in minor and serious injuries and in one or two cases some died. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce occupational safety and healthy (OSH) for wooden ship craftsmen at the traditional shipyards in South Sulawesi. The partners for this activity were the wooden ship craftsmen group called “Torani” in Galesong District, Takalar Regency. The aim is to provide an understanding of the importance of OSH aspects and then apply preventive measures to activities that can cause accidents and occupational health problems in their work environment. The result shows that all craftsmen have understand the importance of OSH aspects in their daily work.
