Abstract

Transformation in ship geometry and the development of alternative materials to replace wood will certainly have an impact on the weight of construction, these changes will certainly affect the center of gravity and ship draft, such as wooden ships with steel frames which are made by wooden ship craftsmen in Takalar Regency, after being replaced with steel frame, laden increases with an increase in the draft will affect the hydrostatic characteristics of the ship and the ship's center of gravity, the change, of course, has an impact on the stability of the ship, so an inclining test is needed, so that wooden ship craftsmen can understand the relationship between ship geometry and ship weight. Therefore, in an effort to increase the knowledge of wooden ship craftsmen, inclining test training is a solution and is proposed for community service activities with method of presenting material and practicing directly on ships, the results of this training craftsmen are able to understand the emphasis on steel-constructed wooden ships in relation to life safety at sea and skilled in inclining to test.

Abstract

Lakkang is an island surrounded by rivers and has a regular mode of transportation that is used by the community to meet their daily needs in the city of Makassar. The ferry transportation (boat) used has two hulls (catamaran) with a carrying capacity of 20 passengers and 8 two-wheeled vehicles. The number of boats operating as many as 5 units of ships from the Kera-Kera pier to Kampung Lakkang with an average number of trips 4 trips per unit per day. The principle of shipping safety states that a ship that wants to sail must be in a seaworthy condition. In addition, the ship is worthy of receiving the cargo and its transportation and protecting the safety of the cargo, passengers and crew (ABK). This activity was carried out with a total of 30 participants which included boat transportation service operators, the most common being coastal communities and island communities, as well as transportation user services. Submission of service material is done by means of individual interviews. The interview process was also supported by the procurement of pocket books and pamphlets to facilitate participants' understanding of the safety materials presented. Public awareness and understanding of safety during travel during service. It is hoped that in the future the community will be able to implement shipping safety procedures on these ferry transportation services to reduce the risk of shipping accidents.

Abstract

The safety guarantee for passengers and goods on local inter-island shipping has been overlooked, particularly in the Sangkarrang island group, Makassar City. The following conditions can be seen: the loading process that neglected ship capacity, the position of passengers and goods, fewer safety equipment pieces, the poor state of the pier, and ship worthiness. The government has issued a regulation on traditional shipping safety to protect ship operation activities, such as the requirement of conventional passenger ships, which is regulated the Regulation of the Director-General of Sea Transportation Number HK.103 / 2/8 / DJPL-17 dated 18 April 2017. The program socialization is expected to give awareness of shipping safety for users and operators. This activity's output is the increasing awareness of the community, especially service users and owners of sea transportation fleets who live in the Sangkarrang archipelago, Makassar City. Through this service community program, there will be a higher awareness of the importance of shipping safety. Hence, the operators must prepare minimal safety equipment such as life jackets, buoys, and fire extinguishers on the ship. Besides, service users and ship owners can consider the risk of shipping circumstances.

Abstract

Paotere Port is a collection port located in Ujung Tanah District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi. Paotere Port, as one node of the traditional shipping transportation system, is expected to increase its productivity. It needs to be supported by adequate human resources to increase port productivity. One of the activities that can be carried out is training for employees at Paotere Port. Improving HR knowledge and skills in work units, especially port productivity, can benefit the company; besides, this training will benefit employees for promotion. The final target of implementing this socialization is to increase knowledge about the operational performance of ports in general and the operational performance of traditional ports in particular. In addition to knowledge, skills in using performance calculation methods are also expected to be applied by employees. Government regulations guide the material for socialization activities for calculating port operational performance, namely Regulation of the Director General of Sea Transportation Number HK 103/2/18/Djpl-16 concerning performance standards for port operational services at commercially operated ports and Number HK 103/2/2/DJPL -17 concerning guidelines for calculating the performance of port operational services. The operational performance consists of goods and ship service performance. The results of the pre-test and post-test surveys found that employees' understanding of port operational performance increased by 46% after the socialization activities. In the future, employees with a deeper understanding will be beneficial for improving port performance in general and individually benefiting employees in increasing their competencies.
