Abstract

Background: Overweight and obesity were risk factors of various degenerative diseases. Green tea extract contains polyphenol compounds, particularly catechins which act as antioxidants, fat dissolvent and aid lipolysis. Thus, it is necessary to study the use of green tea as an alternative treatment to overcome overweight. Objective: To identify the effect of green tea extract supplementation on body weight and malondialdehide (MDA) level of overweight women in Yogyakarta District Health Office.Method: This was an experimental study with double-blind randomized controlled trial design. Subject of the study were divided into two groups; one group consumed green tea extract capsules and the other consumed placebo. Weight, 6 times 24 hours recall, and level of MDA were measured on every subject. Results: The results revealed that green tea extract has a weight-reducing effect and decrease MDA level of overweight women, though the reduction of weight and MDA level was not significant (p>0,05). Weight loss of 1.3% was observed in the treatment group, whereas the control group has an increase of 0.6% body weight, but the weight change was not significant (p=0.501, p=0.620). Changes in body weight after 12 weeks of treatment showed a significant disparity between the two groups (p=0.000). MDA level decreased by 10% in the treatment group compared to 8.3% in the control group. MDA levels pre and post intervention was significantly different in the treatment group (p=0.006), whereas in the control group there was no significant discrepancy observed (p=0.123). However, changes in MDA levels after 12 weeks of treatment showed no significant differences among groups (p=0.278). The mean nutrient intakes of subjects were still below the recommended dietary allowance (RDA), except for protein. Conclusion: Green tea extract had a weight-reducing effect and decrease MDA level of overweight women in Yogyakarta District Health Office, though the reduction was not statistically significant.

Abstract

The consumption of foods that contain balanced nutrition is one way to increase immunity, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, it is necessary to raise awareness of the consumption of food with balanced nutrition for health workers, especially radiographers. One of the efforts that can be done is by providing education to increase radiographer knowledge and interest in consuming foods with balanced nutrition. This community service is in collaboration with IKMARA GUBAYO in the form of online counseling activities. Program evaluation is carried out quantitatively by calculating the frequency distribution of the knowledge level and interest before and after the activity. The results showed an increase in the level of participant’s knowledge about balanced nutrition by 25.45% and an interest in implementing balanced nutrition consumption by 89%. Participant’s knowledge of balanced nutrition increased by 27.4%, knowledge of fixed macronutrient sources, knowledge of vitamin sources increased by 27.4%, knowledge of the benefits of mineral substances increased by 27.2%, and knowledge of how to increase immunity increased by 18.7%. Providing education to radiographers online counseling can increase radiographer’s knowledge and interest in consuming balanced nutrition as an effort to increase immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Obesity is a condition of imbalance in the number of calories entered by the number of calories where the excess is heaped up as body fat. Obesity followed by an increase in fat metabolism will cause Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) production to increase. This condition causes oxidative stress. Indicators of oxidative stress can be observed from plasma levels of Malondialdehyde (MDA). This study aims to determine the risk factors for oxidative stress in obese women. The results of this study indicate that high fat intake (> 60 g / day) is at risk of increasing MDA-P levels twice. Low fiber consumption (<30 gr / day) gives the risk of an increase in MDA-P levels of 2.09 times. Poor physical activity is a risk factor for MDA-P increase of 1.15 times. High cholesterol (> 200mg / l) and LDL (> 130 mg / l) and low HDL (≤45mg / dl) levels are at risk of increasing MDA-P levels by 1.02 times (cholesterol), 1.13 (LDL) ) and 1.12 (HDL). Based on this study it can be concluded that high fat intake, low fiber intake, low physical activity, high cholesterol and HDL levels and low HDL levels are risk factors for oxidative stress.

Abstract

Colon in Loop Radiological Examination is a radiological examination of the large intestine (colon) to see abnormalities in the area using contrast media. The contrast medium used is Barium Sulfate BaSO4. The characteristics of Barium Sulfate easily settles, so it needs an action to clean the remaining barium in the colon after examination so that it does not cause intestinal obstruction. One of the efforts to increase the understanding of the patients and the patient’s familiy with the activities of “AKON SAPU” (Let’s consume fiber and water) movement after Colon in Loop Examination. The method of implementing the activity is using a two-way interactive method, namely 1). Giving questionnaires to patients and their families as many as 23 people who will do a Colon in Loop Examination at RSPAU dr. S. Hardjolukito; 2). Socialization to patients and their families with the help of leaflets; 3). Giving questionnaires to patients and their families. The results obtained indicate that the patient and the patient’s familiy were enthusiastic abaout this activity as evidenced by the many questions asked. There was a 35% increase in understanding of the post-Colon in Loop Examination. So it can be concluded that the “AKON SAPU” (Let’s consume fiber and water) movement after Colon in Loop examination can increase understanding of the patient and the patient’s familiy.
