Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of improving the engagement and motivation in learning biology through the implementation of a project-based learning model, namely Project Based Learning, among students of class XB at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jember. Project Based Learning is a contextual learning model that uses projects as a medium, with the expectation of transforming students' learning methods to be more independent by increasing their engagement and motivation. This study employed a classroom action research consisting of three cycles. Data analysis was carried out using quantitative descriptive analysis, and data collection was carried out through observation sheets, questionnaires and documentation. The steps in implementing the Project Based Learning model include determining fundamental questions, designing project plans, creating a schedule for producing the project outcomes, monitoring project engagement and progress, testing the outcomes, and evaluating the learning experience. The results of the study showed that the application of Project Based Learning was able to improve student engagement by 4% and 10%, reaching 62% in cycle 1 and progressively increasing to 66% in cycle 2 and 76% in cycle 3. Student motivation also increased by 4% and 11%, reaching 63% in cycle 1, and further increasing to 67% in cycle 2 and 78% in cycle 3. Therefore, Project Based Learning is recommended for implementation in biology education.

Abstract

Literacy skills are needed by students in the rapid development of information and communication technology, and the internet. The results of the latest PISA survey showed low students' reading ability when compared to the previous year. This study aims to improve the scientific literacy skills of class X.3 students of SMAN Rambipuji by applying differentiation learning through problem-based learning. The type of research used is the action research class which consists of the planning, implementation, observation and reflection stages. The subjects in this study were students of class X.3 at SMAN Rambipuji Jember which consisted of 36 students. Data were obtained from interviews, observations, documentation, and tests in the form of post-test questions which contained indicators of scientific literacy. The results showed that there was an increase in scientific literacy skills of X.3 class students from an average score of 54.6 to 70.3 when differentiated learning was applied through problem-based learning in cycle I and cycle II

Abstract

In 21st century learning requires humans to have the ability to think well, this learning must be able to trigger students' abilities to learn independently. Based on the observations of the class average value of 69.05, only 8 students reached the KKM or 23.52%. This research uses Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is conducted to improve the performance of educators regarding the quality of the learning process, and improve student learning outcomes through reflective action in the shape cycle. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Jember with research in class X-9, totaling 34 students. The data collection technique used is a test (in the form of a written test/evaluation to collect data related to student learning outcomes). This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Jember from April to May 2023 with the material on Environmental Pollution and Accumulation of Pollutants in the Food Chain using the Problem Based Learning model based on differentiation learning. The application of a differentiated learner-based Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can improve student learning outcomes. This is shown from the results of variable data analysis. The results of data analysis on the student learning outcomes variable show that the proportion of completeness of student learning outcomes in cycle I has increased to 52.9% with an average value of 72.94, and continues to increase in the first cycle. II where the proportion of completeness of student learning outcomes reaches 94.10% with an average value obtained of 87.05
