Abstract

Language as a means and a cultural product. Language activities cannot be separated from the activities of thinking with a specific cultural framework. The view point that human beings cannot think without language, strenghten the existence of language as a means of culture when thinking is seen as part of the spiritual culture. Humans as homo symbolicum 'the creature who use the symbol' whose scope is broader than homo sapiens 'thinking beings.' In the context of Indonesia—who shows diversity, the diversity in many aspects—the existence of Indonesian language in the diversity of language and local culture in Indonesia has become an important topic to be questioned. When associated with education in Indonesia, Indonesian language has a central role in the development of intellectual, social, and emotional of learners and the supporting success in all of fields of study, in addition to the role of regional languages which cannot be ignored.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bahasa, bentuk lingual, dan keterkaitannya dengan sasaran dan jenis iklan di televisi. Sumber data adalah wacana iklan di televisi. Pengumpulan data dengan observasi dan pencatatan. Analisis data melalui proses pengorganisasian dan kategorisasi menggunakan padan bahasa dan padan pragmatik. Hasil penelitian sebagai berikut. Pertama, bahasa yang digunakan adalah Indonesia dan Inggris. Kedua, bentuk lingual berupa: kalimat bahasa Indonesia, kalimat bahasa Inggris, frase bahasa Inggris, dan kata bahasa Inggris. Ketiga, bahasa Indonesia dan campuran bahasa Indonesia-Inggris digunakan untuk sasaran sosial dan usia umum, sedangkan bahasa Inggris untuk sasaran kelas sosial tinggi dan usia muda. Kempat, bahasa Indonesia digunakan pada iklan produk/jasa pada umumnya, sedangkan bahasa Inggris digunakan pada iklan produk/jasa “mewah” dengan sasaran sosial tinggi dan usia muda. Kelima, kalimat bahasa Indonesia digunakan pada iklan dengan sasaran umum, baik dilihat dari kelas sosial maupun usia, sedangkan kalimat bahasa Inggris digunakan dalam iklan dengan sasaran kelas sosial tinggi dan usia muda.Kata kunci: penggunaan bahasa, bentuk lingual, kelas sosial, dan iklan LANGUAGES IN TELEVISION ADVERTISEMENTS IN INDONESIAAbstractThis study aims to describe languages, lingual forms, and their relevance to the targets and types of advertisements on television. The data sources were advertisements on television. The data were collected through observations and recording. They were analyzed by organizing and categorizing them through language and pragmatic correspondences. The findings are as follows. First, the languages used are Indonesian and English. Second, the lingual forms include Indonesian sentences, English sentences, English phrases, and English words. Third, Indonesian and Indonesian-English mixes are used for the target with the social class and age on average, while English is for the high social class and youth. Fourth, Indonesian is used in product/service advertisements in general, while English is used in “luxury” product/service advertisements for the target with the high social class and young age. Fifth, Indonesian sentences are used in advertisements for the general target in terms of the social class and age, whereas English sentences are used in advertisements for the target with the high social class and young age.Keywords: use of languages, lingual forms, social class, advertisements

Abstract

BIPA is currently increasingly in demand by other nations. In addition to learning the language, BIPA students are also introduced to Indonesian culture. Indonesian culture is important and needs to be known by BIPA students so that they can understand well the cultures that exist in Indonesia. One of the BIPA learning media that can be used in learning the language and introducing Indonesian culture is through song. Indonesian songs can be in the form of an archipelago folk song that has many cultural values and moral messages or character values. This research is a descriptive study and the source of data in this study are folk songs of the archipelago. The form data is in the form of words that contain an introduction to basic vocabulary for BIPA learners. Data collection techniques are carried out by observing notes. The results of this study obtained a description of the archipelago's folk songs that can be used as Indigenous digital-based BIPA learning media. The folk songs of the archipelago include Soleram, Cut the Goose Duck, My Goats, Come on Mama, Injit-Injit Ants, and Ondel-ondel. The folk songs of the archipelago can be used as BIPA learning media for basic BIPA learners who are just at the stage of getting to know the basic vocabulary and getting to know Indonesian culture

Abstract

Abstract. Digital literacy skills have a positive impact on managing academic tasks, including writing academic essays. This study aims to describe the reliability of references and the quality of information content in student academic essays. This research focuses on students' digital literacy activities in accessing valid reference sources and to produce digital content that has quality information content. This research was conducted on 30 students who participated in face-to-face and independent learning and independent learning in writing academic essays. Students' academic essays were analyzed to obtain data on the reliability of references and the quality of information content. Student responses were obtained from questionnaires and interviews to gather data on the reasons for selecting references. Data analysis shows that students still use blogs, Wikipedia, and online newspapers as references on the grounds of their relevance to the writing being developed. The results of the analysis of the information content of student academic essays show that students can make academic essays that have quality information content worthy of being disseminated in the digital world.  Keywords:   References, Academic Essays, Reliability, Information Content.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan unsur mikro, suprastruktur, dan makro teks wacana dari media berita online Pengesahan RKUHP Terbaru. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini dibagi menjadi dua yaitu data primer dan data skunder. Teknik pengungpulan data yang digunakan adalah content analysis.  Analisis data penlitian ini diperoleh dengan menggunakan teknik deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan bahwa, ditemukan bahwa dari ketiga unsur wacana menurut Van Dijk tersebut yang paling banyak ditemukan unsur mikro dan makro. Unsur yang tidak ditemukan elemen nominalisasi dan ekspresi.

Abstract

Information about coronavirus prevention is important to know because coronavirus as the global pandemic after being designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) for four years. The aim of this article is to find out linguistic evidences from the lexical aspects such as lexical items, lexical categories, lexical cohesion and lexical bundles. Then analyzed it through corpus-driven analysis using AntConc software, this software is employed to process the data. This research uses a mix method and concurrent embedded model, after that downloading the data, observation and documentation as technique of collecting data, while the technique of analysis data use converting and compiling data, reduction data classification data and display data. The results of the quantitative and qualitative analyses show the result of corpus driven analysis through AntConc show the most common of lexical and syntactical aspects such as word classes, and sentences patterns used in the coronavirus prevention handbook.  AbstrakInformasi tentang pencegahan virus korona penting untuk diketahui, karena virus korona sebagai pandemi global setelah ditetapkan oleh Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) setelah berjalan selama satu tahun. Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk mencoba mencari tahu bukti linguistik dari aspek leksikal dan sintaksis. Kemudian dianalisis melalui analisis berbasis korpus menggunakan aplikasi Antconc, perangkat lunak ini digunakan untuk memproses data. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran dan model campuran tidak berimbang, setelah itu mengunduh data, observasi, dan dokumentasi sebagai teknik pengumpulan data, adapun teknik data analisis menggunakan data konversi dan penyusunan data, data klasifikasi data pengurangan dan data tampilan. Hasil analisis kuantitatif dan kualitatif menunjukkan hasil AntConc dan menunjukkan aspek leksikal dan sintaksis yang paling umum seperti kelas kata, dan pola kalimat yang digunakan dalam buku pegangan pencegahan virus korona.

Abstract

This study described students’ language impoliteness during the Indonesian language learning process taking place at elementary school in the Kediri Regency, East Java Province, Indonesia. This study used a qualitative approach to the type of qualitative descriptive research. The research participant of this study were elementary school educators and students in Kediri, East Java, Indonesia, who have a rough and smooth Javanese language culture when communicating with teachers during the learning process in class. The results of the study showed that all politeness maxims were violated in the learning process. Language politeness must continue to be implemented in elementary schools because it is still being discovered violation of the maxim of wisdom is shown when students give long-winded statements to educators. Violation of the maxim of generosity is shown when students give emotional statements to educators. Violation of the maxim of praise is shown when students express criticism at will, to both educators and friends. Violation of the maxim of politeness is shown when students make statements that demean the speech partner. Violation of the maxim of agreement can be seen when students are giving very harsh statements and ignoring the rules of the speech partners. The violation of the maxim of sympathy is shown when students do not have sympathy for the speech partner who is having difficulty. Language politeness is very important for the world of education as an effort to familiarize students as the nation’s next generation with polite language.

Abstract

The use of technology can increase teacher innovation in carrying out mass learning. Innovations that can standardize in terms of media use or digital supporting devices that reduce the learning barrier and help students succeed. One of the components of multimedia-based learning media is the Nearpod application. This research aims to ascertain the purpose and behavior of primary school pupils utilizing the Nearpod application via an extension of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology 2 (UTAUT 2) model. The researchers employed a quantitative research method by distributing questionnaires to 217 students at Public Elementary School (SDN) 004 Tanjung Redeb, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Data from this study were analyzed using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings revealed that behavioral intention (BI) is significantly positively influenced by hedonic motivation (HM), habit (H), and habitual behavior (HB). In addition, habit (H) also has a significant positive effect on use behavior (UB). It can conclude this study can explain that the adoption of technology in the elementary school environment has different causal factors.
