Abstract

The purpose of this observation is to determine correlation between student motivation and the effectivness of theaching and learning process in social subject to the ninth year class of SMP Katolik St.Theresia Kupang. This is quantitative research. The subject of the research is 93 ninth year class of SMP Katolik Theresia Kupang. The Data was analized by using product moment correlation and followed by regression. The result of product moment correlation and regression, There is possitive correlation and significant between student motivation with the effectivness of teaching and learning process in social subject to the ninth year class of SMPK St.Theresia Kupang, with correlation coefficient score = 0,633 and probability sig = 0,000 > 0,05 or t score = 7,790 > t table = 1,671. Meanwhile determination coefficient or effective support variable student motivation to the effectivness of teaching and learning process in social subject to the ninth year class of SMPK St.Theresia Kupang is R Square = 0,400 x 100% = 40%.

Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this study is What is the relationship between motivation and learning achievements of class V learners at SDI Onekore 5 Ende Regency? The goal to be achieved is to find out the level of relationship between motivation and learning achievements of students of class V SDI Onekore 5. Respondents in this study were class V SDI Onekore 5 learners who numbered 31 people. The research method used is quantitative type exposfacto. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and are supported by documentation and observation. The hypothesis test uses the product moment correlation formula and continues with a simple regression. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between motivation and learning achievement as evidenced by the correlation coefficient value of 0.481 and the probability of 0.001<0.005, and the coefficient of motivational determination to learning achievement of 0.232 or 23.2%. Thus it can be concluded that motivation has a strong enough relationship with the learning achievements of class V learners at SDI Onekore 5. So it needs to be recommended that the school in this case through teachers to further strive to increase the motivation of students through learning in school, while for students to continue to increase their motivation in terms of learning in order to obtain better achievements.

Abstract

Social Science Education (IPS) in principle provides students with knowledge and experience about social life.  This is contained in the purpose and dimensions of social studies education which as a whole touches all aspects of students' lives.  Through social studies education, students from an early age at elementary school age can be helped in shaping their social character. Social studies education in elementary schools teaches the concepts and realities of social life that are essential to shape students into citizens who are able to live and practice social character which is realized through social skills in living with others. Social Studies is one of the media that is able to make an effective contribution to students to be able to have mental, personality and social skills based on morals, all of which are ideals of the expected character values of students. The ideal social character of students as aspired by this nation is students who are devoted to God Almighty, knowledgeable, ready to work together, work together and are willing to sacrifice for fellow citizens. The close relationship between social studies learning and the formation of the social character of students requires teachers, especially elementary school teachers, to be able to succeed in social studies learning more effectively and efficiently.
