Abstract

This is a type of development research with the main stages of preliminary and formative evaluation consisting of self-evaluation, expert review, one-on-one, small group, and field tests, with the goal of producing valid and practical PISA-like numerical problems and having an effect potential in the context of vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants in this study were eighth-grade students younger than 15 years old. The qualitative analysis of this study's findings was conducted on the basis of student responses to the field test. This study's data collection methods included walkthroughs, observations, interviews, and tests. This study produced the development of a PISA-like numerical problem with the characteristics of the Change and Relationship content, the vaccine context, and the social analysis context, all of which were valid and applicable. According to the results of the validator's evaluation, the questions are sound in terms of content, structure, and language. Practically illustrated from the results of small group trials where the majority of students can easily comprehend and interpret the material. Based on the results of field trials, it can be concluded that the PISA-like numerical problems in the context of a pandemic vaccine has the potential to improve students' mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

Research and development of a module for reading explanatory texts based on inquiry methods and PISA standardized questions has been carried out in class VIII SMP N 52 Palembang. This study aimed to produce reading modules that suit the needs of teachers and students. The research method used was development research with the steps of research on the development of the Jolly and Bolitho and Dick, Carey Carey models which include identification of needs, exploration of material needs, contextual realization, production of materials, expert validation, one to one evaluation, small group and field tests. Data was collected through questionnaires, interviews, validation sheets, and tests. The results showed that the feasibility aspect of content and presentation obtained a percentage of 84% in the very good category, linguistic feasibility obtained a percentage of 90% and was categorized as very good, graphics obtained a percentage of 76% in the good category, validation questions received a percentage of 85% in the very good category. Practicality in the one-to-one evaluation stage and the small group gets a percentage of 80% in the practical category. The effectiveness measured in the field test is 0.49 and is in the medium category. Thus, the product in the form of a module for reading explanatory texts based on inquiry methods and PISA standardized questions can be used in learning explanatory texts.

Abstract

This research uses descriptive technique and aims to determine student numeracy skills on Social Arithmetic Problems in Context of OPI Tourism. The subjects have been taken from class VI students in Palembang, totaling 3 people from odd semester students in the 2022/2023 academic year. While the data collection techniques used by researchers are interview tests and written tests. The indicator that often appears is using various numbers and symbols related to basic mathematics to solve problems in various contexts of everyday life and interpreting the results of the analysis to predict and make decisions Then, the indicator that rarely appears is analyzing the information displayed in various form (graphs, tables, charts, diagrams, etc)

Abstract

Creativity in mathematics is one of the abilities that students in solving a problem must master. With creativity, students can develop their ideas to produce various solutions. However, in reality, the ability to think creatively is still low. This is because teacher-centred learning does not provide opportunities for students to develop their ideas creatively. Therefore, this study aims to describe the emergence of indicators of students' creative thinking abilities in solving mathematical problems on reflection material using the Palembang songket context. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research subject, namely 3 class IX students. The research was carried out in three stages, namely, the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the data analysis stage. The data in this study were collected through written tests and interviews. A written test was conducted to measure students' creative thinking skills data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion will be analyzed in three stages. The study found that fluency, flexibility, and elaboration were the most commonly used indicators of students' creative thinking abilities. Meanwhile, for the authenticity indicator, only one subject melts the indicator. Keywords:  Student Creativity, Reflection Material, Context

Abstract

Numeracy is the essential skill for life situations that involve mathematical elements and developing students’ numeracy skills is considered a primary goal of mathematics education. Despite its importance, numeracy can be challenging to teach, and it is not a guaranteed result of classroom mathematics learning. Through a systematic literature review, 35 studies about supporting students in becoming numerate in classrooms or courses are explored, this literature review also explained abilities included as numeracy, recommendations for teachers are given as well as some examples was given, also opportunities and directions for further research are identified, including guidelines for enhancing students’ numeracy competence.
