Abstract

The study aims at investigating whether the family-themed picture stories for young learners were valid as learning media for English Language Teaching (ELT). The researchers developed three picture stories related to family as prototypes. The research procedure was proposed by Akker, which comprised analysis, design, evaluation, and revision. The validity was reviewed by the experts of content, instructional design and media or product design. The mean of content validity of three prototypes is 4.26 which is at very highly valid level. In term of construct validity, the average score of construct validity of three stories is 4.23 which is at very highly valid level. The average score of media or product design validity of the prototypes is 4.36 which is at very highly valid level. Thus, the study result shows that, overall validities of content, construct, and media or product design of the three picture stories are 4.28, which is at very highly valid level. In conclusion, the set of family-themed picture stories as learning media are valid and categorized as very highly valid level; consequently, they are likely to facilitate Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL).Keywords: learning media; TEYL; picture stories

Abstract

ABSTRACT. The study aims to improve the ability of mathematical communication in recognizing, grouping various types of flat wake. The subjects of the study were elementary school students Class IIA in SD Negeri 43 Palembang amounted to 27 people. Data collection is done through observation sheets, interviews, tests, documentation, and field notes. The research method used is a research design consisting of three stages: First stage, preliminary design / preparing for the experiment; The second stage, design experiment consisting of pilot and teaching experiment. The third stage, retrospective analysis. This study develops a series of activities and strategies that learners do on a flat wake material. The results of this study in the form of learning trajectory (learning path) in each activity are: First activity, learners recognize various shapes and characteristics of wake up flat with conventional way. Then, on the second activity, learners can recognize the types and characteristics of the wake up trained by using the model match a make. Furthermore, the third activity, enhances its mathematical communication ability by using origang tangram context. Keywords : Design research, mathematical communication, make a match, origami

Abstract

Abstract. Community service carried out by the dedication team consisted of lecturers and students of the Musi Charitas Catholic Primary School Teacher Education Study Program in cooperation with Elementary School State No.42. Community service is carried out in five meetings with a duration of two hours per meeting. Each meeting, the dedication team uses a summary of the material and questions about multiplication operations. The assistance provided by the service team outside of school hours is in the form of additional hours and is prioritized for children with low and moderate abilities. The method used is the lecture method, discussion, question and answer, and discovery learning models. In addition, this assistance process is carried out where one person accompanies a maximum of three students with the aim of getting maximum results. Output generated in this service activity is a summary of material and questions about multiplication counting operations. The summary of the material and questions provided aims to train students' abilities to more easily understand the overall multiplication operation.Abstrak. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilaksanakan oleh tim pengabdian terdiri dari dosen dan mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar Universitas Katolik Musi Charitas bekerjasama dengan SD Negeri 42 Palembang. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan sebanyak 5 kali pertemuan dengan durasi 2 jam tiap pertemuan. Tiap pertemuan, tim pengabdian menggunakan ringkasan materi dan soal tentang operasi perkalian. Pendampingan yang dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian di luar jam sekolah berupa jam tambahan dan diutamakan bagi anak-anak yang berkemampuan rendah dan sedang. Metode yang digunakan ada metode ceramah, diskusi, tanya jawab, dan model pembelajaran discovery. Di samping itu, di dalam proses pendampingan ini dilakukan dimana 1 orang mendampingi maksimal 3 siswa dengan tujuan untuk mendapatkan hasil yang maksimal. Luaran yang dihasilkan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini berupa ringkasan materi dan soal tentang operasi hitung perkalian. Ringkasan materi dan soal yang diberikan bertujuan untuk melatih kemampuan siswa agar lebih mudah memahami operasi perkalian secara keseluruhan.

Abstract

Abstract. Writing and publishing scientific articles are essential for researchers, lecturers, and students in Indonesia. However, many of them still have difficulty writing their research results in the form of scientific articles and publishing them in reputable international journals. So, this service activity is carried out to develop academic writing and publish scientific articles skills for researchers, lecturers, and students in Indonesia. The community service activities were carried out using a digital platform, namely Zoom Meeting, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants involved in this activity consisted of 193 participants, consisting of researchers, lecturers, and students from various regions in Indonesia. The collecting data uses a questionnaire which was analyzed descriptively. The activity results showed an increase in the participants' academic writing and publication skills, with an average increase of 71.45% after attending this training through a digital platform. The participants gained a lot of knowledge about academic writing and scientific publications in reputable international journals.  Abstrak. Keterampilan menulis dan menerbitkan artikel ilmiah sangat penting bagi para peneliti, dosen, dan mahasiswa di Indonesia. Namun, sejumlah dari mereka masih mengalami kesulitan dalam menuliskan hasil penelitian mereka dalam bentuk artikel ilmiah dan menerbitkannya pada Jurnal internasional bereputasi yang baik. Sehingga, kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan untuk menumbuhkan keterampilan menulis dan menerbitkan artikel ilmiah bagi para peneliti, dosen, dan mahasiswa di Indonesia. Adapun kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan menggunakan platform digital, yang bernama Zoom Meeting, pada saat masa pandemi COVID-19. Para peserta yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ini terdiri dari 193 peserta, yang terdiri dari peneliti, dosen, dan mahasiswa dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner yang dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan menulis dan publikasi para peserta dengan rata-rata peningkatan di angka 71,45%, setelah mereka mengikuti pelatihan ini melalui platform digital. Para peserta mendapatkan banyak pengetahuan tentang dunia penulisan dan publikasi ilmiah di jurnal internasional bereputasi yang baik.

Abstract

Abstract. Hidden butterfly of the successor to the nation is a form of devotion conducted by students from different study programs with lecturers. This activity was carried out by five students from different study programs namely Primary School Teacher Education, English Education, Management, Accounting, and Industrial Engineering. The purpose of this activity is to equip children of TPA Sukawinatan with the following: 1) improving the ability to read, write and count (calistung); 2) improve English language skills; 3) apply wise attitude in using money; 4) Instilling good character of management (arrangement) and time discipline in children; 5) Developing children's skills in utilizing used goods to be made as something that has added value. The method of implementation used in the form of preparation, planning and implementation stages. Methods of practice, experiments, lectures and games. The results of this activity are as follows: 1) increased ability to read, write and count; 2) increasing English language skills; 3) understanding the importance of using money wisely; 4) has a management character (discipline) of time; 5) have skills in utilizing used goods to become something that has added value.Abstrak. Kupu-kupu tersembunyi penerus bangsa adalah bentuk kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa dari program studi berbeda bersama dosen. Kegiatan ini dilakukan oleh lima orang mahasiswa dari program studi yang berbeda-beda yaitu Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar, Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Manajemen, Akuntansi, dan Teknik Industri. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah membekali anak-anak TPA Sukawinatan dengan hal berikut: 1) meningkatkan kemampuan membaca, menulis dan berhitung (calistung); 2) meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris; 3) menerapkan sikap bijaksana dalam menggunakan uang; 4) Menanamkan karakter manajemen (pengaturan) dan disiplin waktu yang baik pada anak-anak; 5) Menumbuhkembangkan keterampilan anak-anak dalam memanfaatkan barang bekas untuk dijadikan sesuatu yang memiliki nilai tambah. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan dalam bentuk tahap persiapan, perencanaan dan pelaksanaan. Metode praktik, eksperimen, ceramah, dan permainan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah sebagai berikut: 1) meningkatnya kemampuan membaca, menulis dan berhitung; 2) meningkatnya kemampuan bahasa Inggris;3) memahami pentingnya penggunaan uang dengan bijak; 4) memiliki karakter manajemen (disiplin) waktu; 5) memiliki keterampilan dalam memanfaatkan barang bekas untuk dijadikan sesuatu yang memiliki nilai tambah.

Abstract

AbstrakHasil belajar siswa yang dibawah standar menunjukkan siswa kurang memahami konsep pada materi bilangan bulat. Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi bilangan bulat melalui penggunaan media pembelajaran yaitu cerita Si Unyil berbasis ICT, yang terlihat dari peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu penelitian kualitatif yaitu Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Siklus yang terjadi dalam PTK terdiri dari dua siklus, dimana tiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan: perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIA SMP Xaverius 6 Palembang yang berjumlah 26 orang. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan lembar observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Deskriptif kualitatif digunakan untuk menganalisa data observasi dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan deskriptif kuanlitatif yaitu menganalisa hasil tes. Hasil dari penelitian ini berupa peningkatan pemahaman konsep terlihat dari meningkatnya hasil belajar siswa dari siklus pertama sebesar 57,84 meningkat pada siklus kedua menjadi 71,19.  AbstractUnder-standard learning outcomes of students show students do not understand the concepts in integer material. This study aims to increase students' understanding of the concepts of integers through the use of instructional media, namely the ICT-based Si Unyil story, which can be seen from the increase in student learning outcomes. This type of research is qualitative research, Classroom Action Research (CAR). The cycle that occurs in CAR consists of two cycles, where each cycle consists of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were the students of class VIIA Xaverius 6 Palembang Junior High, totaling 26 people. Research data were collected using observation sheets, tests, and documentation. Qualitative descriptive is used to analyze observation and documentation data. While quantitative descriptive analysis of test results. The results of this study in the form of an increased understanding of the concept can be seen from the increase in student learning outcomes from the first cycle of 57.84 increased in the second cycle to 71.19.

Abstract

AbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui gambaran proses pembelajaran pecahan menggunakan konteks puding dan bangun datar segitiga sama sisi dan mengetahui pemahaman konsep awal calon guru sekolah dasar tentang pecahan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualititatif-kuantitatif. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah calon guru SD Program Studi PGSD Semester III berjumlah 19 orang tahun akademik 2018/2019. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara terkait dengan pemahaman calon guru SD tentang pecahan dan tes. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: 1) gambaran proses pembelajaran pecahan menggunakan konteks puding dan bangun datar segitiga sama sisi menunjukkan perbedaan jawaban antara calon guru SD yang satu dengan yang lain; 2) pemahaman konsep calon guru SD terhadap materi pecahan masih tergolong rendah sebesar 33,82%; 3) hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa calon guru SD terbantu (sebanyak 60%) melalui penggunaan konteks di dalam pembelajaran pecahan.  Understanding of the Basic Concept of the Basic School Teachers about FractionAbstractThe purpose of this study was to find out the description of the fraction learning process using the context of the pudding and to construct a flat equilateral triangle and to know the understanding of the initial concept of the elementary school teacher about fractions. The type of research used in this study is qualitative-quantitative research. The subjects of this study were 19th semester students of the PGSD Study Program in the 2018/2019 academic year. Data collection techniques used interviews related to the understanding of prospective elementary school teachers about fractions and tests. The results of this study are as follows: 1) description of the fraction learning process using the context of pudding and the flat build of equilateral triangles showing differences in answers between elementary school teacher candidates with one another; 2) the understanding of students' concepts of fraction material is still relatively low at 33.82%; 3) the results of interviews indicate that elementary school teacher candidates are helped (as much as 60%) through the use of context in fraction learning.

Abstract

AbstrakPembelajaran matematika merupakan pembelajaran dari sesuatu yang bersifat konkret menuju  abstrak. Hal ini sejalan dengan materi bangun datar yang cenderung abstrak. Namun, pada kenyataannya cara pemikiran siswa bersifat konkret. Maka dari itu, untuk menjembataninya diperlukan pendekatan yang mengutamakan pembelajaran yang bersifat konkret yaitu pendekatan PMRI (Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia). Pendekatan ini dilakukan dengan cara mendesain buku ajar bilingual berkonteks kebudayaan lokal melalui serangkaian aktivitas pembelajaran bangun datar menggunakan pendekatan PMRI. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian design research yang terdiri dari tiga tahap yaitu preliminary design, the design experiment, dan retrospective analysis. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan lintasan belajar menggunakan buku ajar bilingual materi bangun datar. Pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi, wawancara, dan lembar aktivitas siswa. Data dianalisis menggunakan lembar validasi dari ahli. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan buku ajar bilingual ini dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa tentang bangun datar dari tahap informal ke tahap formal. Abstract (Bilingual Mathematics Textbook Design of Flat Building Topic Using Local Cultural Context PMRI Approach)Learning mathematics is a learning deriving from abstract towards concrete similarly to two-dimensional figure material. However, based on facts, the students’ thinking-process is concrete, which is abstract. Hence, to connect them, it is advisable to prioritize concrete learning. That is through Indonesia Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach by designing a bilingual Mathematics textbook based on local cultural context. This research is a design research consisting of three steps. There are preliminary design, the design experiment, and the retrospective analysis. The aim of the research produced a bilingual textbook in which the material focused on two-dimensional figure. Data collection by using observation sheet, interviews, and students’ worksheet. The data analysis by using validation sheet from the expert. The research is that the use of bilingual textbook using PMRI approach is able to improve the students’ concept understanding in two-dimensional figure from informal to formal step.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran example non example terhadap hasil belajar tematik siswa SD Kelas VI. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian eksperimen. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakam tes. Data dianalisis menggunakan independent sample t-test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan analisis data terbukti bahwa model pembelajaran example non example dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa SD kelas VI. Hal ini terlihat dari perbedaan nilai rata-rata siswa di kelas VIA sebagai kelas eksperimen () sebesar 88,16 lebih besar daripada di kelas VIB sebagai kelas kontrol () sebesar 56,19. Sedangkan, nilai signifikansi t-hitung adalah 0,001 < 0,05 sehingga ditolak dan  diterima. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh model pembelajaran example non example terhadap hasil belajar tematik siswa kelas VI SD.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed Indonesia's educational system, including its universities. In all subjects, including mathematics, face-to-face learning systems must be transformed into online learning systems. The purpose of this study is to examine student responses to online lectures delivered during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method, with 30 students enrolled in high-grade mathematics courses. The data collection process included document analysis, observation, and questionnaire-assisted interviews. After that, the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics techniques and presented in diagrams and narration. The results revealed that the online lecture process incorporated a digital platform, including video conferencing via Zoom, cloud meetings, WhatsApp, and the University's Lumen. The majority of students dislike online learning, even though the lectures are delivered like face-to-face lectures. They dislike online courses for two primary reasons: the unstable quality of the internet network and difficulty comprehending subject concepts.
