Abstract

Toxicity is the ability of a substance that is destructive when exposed to organisms. These substances can come from plants to used as plant-based pesticides. Siam orange peel waste (Citrus nobilis) can be used as the main ingredient of botanical pesticides because it contains bioactive compounds. The purpose of this research is to see the ability of the concentration of siam citrus fruit extracts that can cause mosquito death by 50%. This type of research is experimental and a quantitative approach. The experimental design used a Factorial Complete Randomized Design consisting of seven different treatments and three observation times. These treatments were the concentration of 0% conjoined orange peel extract as a negative control, 30%, 45%, 60%, 75%, 90%, and commercial products as a positive control, the treatment was carried out in four replications. Data were analyzed using probit regression analysis. Probit test results obtained that LC50 value is 49.86%, the concentration that can be used is in the treatment of P3 with a concentration of 60% of Siamese orange peel extract. The conclusion of this research proves that the administration of conjoined orange peel extract can cause Culex mosquito mortality by 50% at a concentration of 60%.

Abstract

 ABSTRACTThe Indian blue peacock (Pavo cristatus) is an introduced bird from India. The presence of this bird provides many economic benefits, one of which is the use of its beautiful feathers. One of the Exsitu conservation areas that conserves Indian blue peacocks is the Jantho City Sustainable White Desert Safari Park, located in Aceh, Indonesia. Considering that not much scientific information has been recorded about this bird, including its daily behavior, it is necessary to do research. Data collection was conducted in August-September 2020. This study aims to determine the daily behavior of male and female Indian blue peafowl (Pavo cristatus) in the Lestari White Desert Safari Park. The approach in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach. The data were obtained from the observation and documentation of the Indian blue peacock. The results showed that daily behaviors were found including self-care 383 times (27.51%), moving 471 times (33.84%), ingestive 357 times (25.65%), making sounds 20 times (1.44%). %), resting 142 times (10.20%) and social as much as 19 times (1.36%). The highest daily behavior frequency in male Indian blue peafowl was self-care behavior as much as 251 times (37.02%) and female Indian blue peacock on mobile behavior as much as 277 times (38.94%). The lowest frequency of daily behavior in male Indian blue peacocks, namely social behavior in fighting activities as much as 6 times (0.26%) and female Indian blue peacocks in vocal behavior, to be precise, emitted a sound when there was a threat, namely 2 times (0.08%) .Keywords: Indian blue peacock, Exsitu conservation, daily behavior.ABSTRAKBurung merak biru India (Pavo cristatus) merupakan burung introduksi dari India. Kehadiran burung ini memberikan banyak manfaat dari segi ekonomi salah satunya pemanfaatan pada bulunya yang indah. Salah satu kawasan konservasi Exsitu yang melestarikan burung merak biru India adalah Taman Safari Gurun Putih Lestari Kota Jantho yang terletak di Aceh, Indonesia. Mengingat belum banyak informasi ilmiah yang didata tentang burung ini termasuk perilaku harian, maka perlu dilakukan penelitian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan pada bulan Agustus-September 2020. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku harian burung merak biru India jantan dan betina (Pavo cristatus) di Taman Safari Gurun Putih Lestari. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari observasi dan dokumentasi burung merak biru India. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perilaku harian yang ditemukan diantaranya perawatan diri sebanyak 383 kali (27,51%), bergerak sebanyak 471 kali (33,84%), ingestif sebanyak 357 kali (25,65%), bersuara sebanyak 20 kali (1,44%), istirahat sebanyak 142 kali (10,20%) dan sosial sebanyak 19 kali (1,36%). Frekuensi perilaku harian tertinggi pada burung merak biru India jantan yaitu perilaku perawatan diri sebanyak 251 kali (37,02%) dan burung merak biru India betina pada perilaku bergerak sebanyak 277 kali (38,94%). Frekuensi perilaku harian terendah pada burung merak biru India jantan yaitu perilaku sosial dalam aktivitas berkelahi sebanyak 6 kali (0,26%) dan burung merak biru India betina pada perilaku bersuara tepatnya mengeluarkan suara saat adanya ancaman yaitu sebanyak 2 kali (0,08%).Kata Kunci: Burung merak biru India, konservasi Exsitu, perilaku harian.

Abstract

Substrate of straw mushroom in general are straw. Spent coffee grounds are one of the wastes that can be used as an alternative substrate for straw mushrooms. The purpose of the research are to know the diameter growth effect of straw mushrooms on spent coffee grounds substrate, as well as to know the optimal comparison of substrate combinastions for diameter growth of staw mushrooms. This research is experimental with a quantitative approach. The design used was a Nonfactorial Completely Randomized Design consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were 100% straw (P0) as positive control, 75% straw and 25% spent coffee grounds (P1), 50% straw and 50% spent coffee grounds (P2), 25% straw and 75% spent coffee grounds (P3), and 100% spent coffee grounds (P4). Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variants (ANAVA) and conducted further tests by Tukey’s honestly significance difference (HSD). The results of this research indicate the substrate combination of straw and spent coffee grounds effects the diameter growth of straw mushrooms. The optimal substrate combination of straw mushrooms are P1 treatment with a combination of 75% straw and 25% spent coffee grounds.Keywords: straw mushroom, straw, spent coffee grounds, growth, diameter.Media jamur merang pada umumnya adalah jerami. Ampas kopi merupakan salah satu limbah yang dapat dijadikan alternatif media tanam jamur merang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pertumbuhan diameter jamur merang pada media tanam ampas kopi, serta untuk mengetahui perbandingan kombinasi media tanam yang optimal bagi pertumbuhan diameter jamur merang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimental dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap Nonfaktorial yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan yang dimaksud adalah 100% jerami (P0) sebagai kontrol positif, 75% jerami dan 25% ampas kopi (P1), 50% jerami dan 50% ampas kopi (P2), 25% jerami dan 75% ampas kopi (P3), serta 100% ampas kopi (P4). Data dianalisis menggunakan Analisis Varian (ANAVA) dan dilakukan uji lanjut berupa Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan kombinasi media tanam jerami dan ampas kopi berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan diameter jamur merang. Kombinasi media tanam jamur merang yang optimal adalah perlakuan P1 dengan kombinasi 75% jerami dan 25% ampas kopi.Kata-kata kunci: Jamur Merang, Jerami, Ampas Kopi, Pertumbuhan, Diameter.

Abstract

ABSTRACTEthno-ornithology was the study of various aspects of the use of birds from the perspective of knowledge and culture of society. This research was conducted from March 2020 to August 2020. The purpose of this study was to determine the various uses of bird species by the community in Peudada District, Bireuen Regency in terms of moral values. The method used is the semistructural interview method, with triangulation techniques, namely triangulation of methods and triangulation of data sources. This research was conducted in Peudada District with 15 villages consisting of 75 respondents. In each village 5 respondents consisted of 2 traditional leaders and 3 local people who knew information about birds that were often used by the community. The data were analyzed qualitatively and descriptively based on literature study. The results obtained 32 bird species with 18 uses by the Peudada District, Bireuen Regency. Utilization of bird species that have local wisdom for the people of Peudada Subdistrict are free-range chickens (Gallus sp.), serati ducks (Chairina moschata), forest lathes (Centropus rectunguis), buffalo starlings (Acridotheres javanicus), eagles (Aquila sp.), and manyar (Ploceus manyar). Keywords: Etno-ornitologi, Bird, Peudada District.ABSTRAKEtno-ornitologi adalah studi tentang berbagai pemanfaatan aspek burung dari sudut pandang pengetahuan dan budaya masyarakat. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan sejak Maret 2020 sampai Agustus 2020. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui berbagai pemanfaatan jenis burung oleh masyarakat di Kecamatan Peudada, Kabupaten Bireuen ditinjau dari nilai moral. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode wawancara semistruktural, dengan teknik triangulasi yaitu triangulasi metode dan triangulasi sumber data. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kecamatan Peudada dengan 15 desa yang terdiri dari 75 responden. Pada masing-masing desa ditetapkan 5 responden yang terdiri dari 2 orang tokoh adat dan 3 orang masyarakat setempat yang mengetahui informasi tentang burung yang sering dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif dan deskriptif berdasarkan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 32 spesies burung dengan 18 pemanfaatan oleh masyarakat Kecamatan Peudada, Kabupaten Bireuen. Pemanfaatan jenis burung yang memiliki kearifan lokal bagi masyarakat Kecamatan Peudada adalah ayam kampung (Gallus sp.), itik serati (Chairina moschata), bubut hutan (Centropus rectunguis), jalak kerbau (Acridotheres javanicus), elang (Aquila sp.), dan manyar (Ploceus manyar). Kata Kunci: Etno-ornitologi, Burung, Kecamatan Peudada.

Abstract

ABSTRACT          This study aims to determine the causal factors of obstacles lab work, and to find alternative solutions. This research was done on march until july 2020. The method in this study was carried out by means of a questionaire and literature review. Sample in this study were 11 SMA in Banda Aceh, with respondents 11 biology teachers teaching class XI and 99 students of class XI IPA. The data was analyzed using a percentage formula. The results of this research showed that the constraints for practical implementation included inadequate supporting facilities, lack of completeness of practicum materials, insufficient time allocation for practicum, lack of readiness of laboratory assistants in prepared practicum tools and materials, absence of laboratory assistants in several sample schools, and some biology teachers or laboratory assistants in sample schools have never attended training on practicum or the use of laboratory equipment. Solutions that can be given in overcoming the constraints of practicum implementation are applying for laboratory development funding assistance to related parties, planning time allocation properly, finding laboratory assistants by the school and holding training for teachers and laboratory assistants regarding laboratory techniques and laboratory management.Keywords: obtacles, lab practice, biologyABSTRAK          Penelitian yang dilakukan di SMA Kota Banda Aceh bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab kendala praktikum dan mencari solusi alternatif penyelesaiannya. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Maret-Juli tahun 2020. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara angket dan kajian literatur. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 11 SMA di Kota Banda Aceh, dengan responden 11 guru biologi yang mengajar kelas XI dan 99 peserta didik kelas XI IPA. Analisis data menggunakan rumus persentase. Hasil dari penelitian diketahui faktor kendala pelaksanaan praktikum diantaranya, fasilitas pendukung yang tidak memadai, minimnya kelengkapan bahan praktikum, alokasi waktu praktikum tidak mencukupi, kurangnya kesiapan laboran dalam mempersiapkan kebutuhan praktikum, tidak adanya laboran di beberapa sekolah sampel, dan sebagian guru biologi/laboran di sekolah sampel belum pernah mengikuti pelatihan mengenai praktikum atau penggunaan alat laboratorium. Solusi yang dapat diberikan dalam mengatasi kendala pelaksanaan praktikum adalah dengan merencanakan alokasi waktu dengan baik, mencari tenaga laboran oleh pihak sekolah serta mengadakan pelatihan kepada guru dan laboran mengenai teknik laboratorium dan pengelolaan laboratorium.Kata Kunci: kendala, praktikum, biologi

Abstract

Manyar Bird (Ploceus manyar) is a member of Ordo Passeriformes that can be found around rice fields because the feed is grain. Research with the title "Characteristic of Bird Nest Manyar (Ploceus manyar) in District Kuta Baro Aceh Besar" was conducted the data retrieval in February-June 2020. This research was conducted to know the characteristics of the nest bird Manyar (Ploceus manyar in Kuta Baro Aceh Besar. The method used is explorative surveys with purposive sampling techniques by sharing locations in 10 observation locations. The Data obtained is analyzed in a qualitative The results of the study acquired the characteristics of the nest Manyar Bird has different nesting places. The nest is found in palm trees, the Royal palm (Roystonea regia) with the stem used by five, the palm (Elaeis guineensis) stem used only one and the coconut tree (Cocos nucifera) stem used as much as 44. The type of nest found is the three forms of nests that are male nests, females and mating nests.Keywords: characteristics, nest, Manyar Birds, Kuta Baro. Burung Manyar (Ploceus manyar) merupakan anggota dari ordo Passeriformes yang habitatnya disekitar persawahan karena makanannya berupa biji-bijian. Penelitian dengan judul “Karakteristik Sarang Burung Manyar (Ploceus manyar) di Kecamatan Kuta Baro Kabupaten Aceh Besar“ telah dilakukan pengambilan data lapangan pada Februari-Juni 2020. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik sarang Burung Manyar (Ploceus manyar) di Kecamatan Kuta Baro Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Metode yang digunakan yaitu survei eksploratif dengan teknik pengambilan data purposive sampling dengan cara membagikan lokasi kedalam 10 lokasi pengamatan. Data yang diperoleh akan dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah karakteristik sarang Burung Manyar memiliki tempat bersarang yang berbeda. Sarang tersebut terdapat pada  pohon palem-paleman yaitu palem raja (Roystonea regia) dengan batang yang digunakan sebanyak lima, Sawit (Elaeis guineensis) batang yang digunakan hanya satu, dan pohon kelapa (Cocos nucifera) batang yang digunakan sebanyak 44. Jenis sarang yang ditemukan adalah tiga bentuk sarang yaitu sarang jantan, betina dan sarang kawin.Kata Kunci: karakteristik, sarang, Burung Manyar, Kuta Baro.

Abstract

The Gampong Pande Mangrove Area is one of the coastal areas that has mangrove forests destroyed due to the natural disaster in 2004. The impact of mangrove damage affects the number of individuals in the Gampong Pande mangrove area. This study aims to determine the pattern of coastal trinil distribution in the Gampong Pande Mangrove area. Data collection was carried out in January 2022 with a purposive sampling technique using the Line transect method. The results of this study recorded 984 individuals of coastal trinil birds in the Gampong Pande area with a pattern of distribution of coastal trinil populations at the first location obtained a Morisita Standard Index value denoted by Ip of 0.55, in the second location an Ip value of 0.56 was obtained and at the third location an Ip value of 0.57 was obtained. The conclusion on the three locations was obtained the Morisita Standard Index Ip 0 so that it can be said that the pattern of distribution of coastal trinil populations (Actitis hypoleucos) in three locations located in Gampong Pande, Kuta Raja District, Banda Aceh City, is a clustered distribution.Keywords: common sandpiper, mangroves, distribution patternsKawasan Mangrove Gampong Pande merupakan salah satu daerah pesisir pantai yang memiliki hutan mangrove hancur akibat bencana alam tahun 2004. Dampak kerusakan mangrove mempengaruhi jumlah individu pada kawasan mangrove Gampong Pande. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola persebaran trinil pantai di kawasan Mangrove Gampong Pande. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada januari 2022 dengan teknik purposive sampling menggunakan metode Line transect. Hasil penelitian ini tercatat 984 individu burung trinil pantai di kawasan Gampong Pande dengan pola persebaran populasi trinil pantai pada lokasi pertama diperoleh nilai Indeks Standar Morisita dilambangkan dengan Ip sebesar 0.55, pada lokasi kedua diperoleh nilai Ip sebesar 0.56 dan pada lokasi ketiga diperoleh nilai Ip sebesar 0.57. Kesimpulan pada ketiga lokasi tersebut diperoleh Indeks Standar Morisita Ip 0 sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa pola persebaran populasi trinil pantai (Actitis hypoleucos) pada tiga lokasi yang berada di Gampong Pande Kecamatan Kuta Raja Kota Banda Aceh merupakan persebaran mengelompok.Kata Kunci: burung trinil pantai, mangrove, pola persebaran
