Abstract

Teachers who have self-efficacy regarding their abilities play an important part in the educational process. The instrument “Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES)”, which consists of 24 items, measures the self-efficacy of a teacher in conducting his or her role in the classroom. This research was aimed at testing the psychometric properties of the Indonesian language version of the TSES, using Rasch testing. 245 State Primary School teachers in the Special Capital District (Daerah Khusus Ibukota - DKI) of Jakarta, Indonesia, took part in the study. Analysis results indicated that the reliability index and the separation of item and person scales of the TSES fulfil the criteria well. In the study of the structure of the organisation of the instrument, tests of the unidimensional quality and accuracy of the items/models showed they fulfil the conditions for measurement by Rasch modelling. In the rating scale, data analysis indicated the necessity of simplification of the range of response choices, and also of the variation in the difficulty of the items, which is not very uniform, so that a large proportion of respondents were not easily measurable, via this instrument. The results of the research indicated two items which showed bias, when dealt with by different groups of respondents. Based upon the information resulting from this testing, this script discusses recommendations for the modification of the Indonesian language version of the TSES instrument, with the aim of producing an instrument having good psychometric qualities, to measure the self-efficacy of teachers. Guru yang mempunyai efikasi diri akan kemampuannya merupakan bagian penting dalam proses pendidikan. Instrumen Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES), yang berisi 24 butir, mengukur efikasi diri seorang guru dalam menjalankan perannya di kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji properti psikometrik TSES versi Bahasa Indonesia dengan menggunakan pemodelan Rasch. Sebanyak 245 orang guru SD Negeri di DKI Jakarta berpartisipasi dalam studi ini. Hasil analisis menunjukkan indeks reliabilitas serta separasi item dan person skala TSES memenuhi kriteria yang baik. Dalam kajian struktur penyusun instrumen, uji unidimensionalitas dan ketepatan butir-model memenuhi syarat dalam pengukuran pemodelan Rasch. Dalam hal skala peringkat (rating scale), analisis data menunjukkan perlunya penyederhanaan rentang pilihan jawaban; juga variasi tingkat kesulitan butir yang tidak terlalu beragam sehingga sebagian besar responden tidak dapat terukur dengan baik melalui instrumen ini. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan dua butir yang memiliki bias ketika di kerjakan oleh kelompok responden yang berbeda. Berdasarkan informasi hasil pengujian tersebut, tulisan ini membahas usulan modifikasi instrumen TSES versi Bahasa Indonesia dengan tujuan menghasilkan instrumen efikasi diri guru yang memiliki properti psikometrik yang baik.

Abstract

This study is aimed at determining the factors most responsible for academic dishonesty in the education students as prospective teachers. Using the quantitative research method, 518 students participated as respondents. Findings show that chances/opportunities have direct and significant impacts on academic dishonesty. Opportunity allows students to commit academic dishonesties without being detected. Opportunities may also be due to ignoran­ce of educational institutions and faculty members to the phenomena of academic dishonesty that occur. Actually, the educational institutions and teaching staff have primary authority in creating academic integrity on campus. Therefore, it is important to create some policies that aim to reduce and even eliminate the opportunities of students to commit academic dishonesties. These policies include: types of exam questions or assign­ments, clear rules concerning the implementation of evaluation of learning outcomes, as well as a firm associations with academic dishonesty, especially on the part of teachers as those who interact directly with students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the problems faced by the supervisors in supervising the students to write their thesises. The study conducted in the State University of Jakarta in August 2012 with the population of all thesis supervisors. The samples were appointed incidental sampling technique and the data were collected by using questionnaire to be analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings show, (1) the supervisors mostly find problems in assisting the students in writing Chapter I and developing research instrument, (2) computer application can be utilized to assist the students to develop the research instruments but the program is to be designed. This study provides some suggestions to the students, thesis supervisors, and the Department to overcome the identified problems.

Abstract

University students have to learn independently. They must have skills of how to learn: thinking ability, thinking process, and learning motivation. Those abilities in cognitive psychology are known as self-regulated learning. This research involve 128 students of Education Faculty of Jakarta State University to know about description of self-regulated learning, difference of self-regulated learning between study programs, and correlation of self-regulated learning withacademic achievement.

Abstract

Valid and reliable test is an essential instrument to measure the student’s learning achievement. Standardized test available at the time it is required will make the instructional process more effective and efficient. This study aims at building a test bank with standardized tests for Development Psychology Course as one of Basic Courses for Education that has to be taken by all students of education. The test items were developed by employing the method which could expose psychometric property or psychomotoric characteristics of each item. For this purpose 95 test items were tried out to 224 students of State University of Jakarta. From the whole number of test items, 46 were analyzed by using Rasch Model (Item Response Theory) and the remaining 49 were analyzed with Classical Test Theory. The study resulted in 29 valid test items from Rasch Model and 42 valid test items from Classical Test Theory. The valid test items can be put into the test bank and ready for use.

Abstract

Abstract The aim of this study is to answer the difference of happiness between women that apply beauty treatments and women whom is not to alter the appearance of the self. This research conducted on October 2013-January 2014. This study used comparative quantitative study methods. Incidental sampling was used as the sampling techniques in this research. The subject of this study are a total of 140 respondents. The happiness variable was assesed using scale of happiness made by the researchers. Data analysis technique used to test the hypothesis is with measuring the t test using SPSS 17.00. The result of this study showed that there is a difference of happiness between women that apply beauty treatment and whom is not to alter the appearance of the self with a significance value of 0,025. This study also also showed that women whom is not apply beauty treatments are having higher mean value than the women that apply beauty treatments with the t value of -2,272. Abstract

Abstract The study was conducted to determine the effect of personality trait on marital adjustment in early adulthood. The personality trait based on The Big Five Factors of Personality theory by McCrae dan Costa. This study used a quantitative research method with a ex post facto design. The sample used in this study is 100 persons. The sampling technique used accidental sampling method. This study used two instruments were adopted from International Personality Item Pool Representation of The NEO PI-R (IPIPNEO) for personality scale and Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) for marital adjustment scale. Data analysis used regression analysis of 5 predictors technique. Based on the calculations, the value of F = 3.810 with a significance of 0.003 (p <0.05), suggested that there is a significant influence personality trait to marital adjustment in early adulthood. The influence of personality trait to marital adjustment in early adulthood that is obtained by Adjusted R Square is 0.124 which means personality trait affect marital adjustment in early adulthood individual by 12.4%, while the remaining percentage showed that there are other factors that influence marital adjustment on early adulthood beside personality trait. The study result suggested that only neuroticism domain has negative significant influence on marital adjustment with a -1.295 regression coefficient and 0.021 significance (p <0.05). Abstract

This study aims to determine the background factors of decision making to use drugs on young adult ever studied in boarding school.The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with a qualitative case study approach. Subjects in this study amounted to 2 drug user after graduate from boarding school and from different boarding school, one from traditional boarding school and one from modern boarding school, they are 23 years old. Data collection techniques used were interviews. Data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques and techniques of data validity checks using triangulation. These results indicatethatthere are sixfactors thataffect the subjectinmaking decisionsthatarepreferences, values, beliefs, emotions, and action circumstances. Of the six factors are the most influential factor that circumstances. Environment and the influence of friends is part of circumstances factor that affect both subjects. Abstract

This study aims to determine the influencer of fathers involvement on rational decision making. This study is a quantitative research with sample of early adult women amount 101 respondents. The method of data collection is using Rational Decision Making, Nurturant Fathering Scale, and Reported Father Involvement Scale questionnaires that has been constructed by the relevant theory. Hypothesis testing in this study is using regression analysis. Regression analysis shows that the value of F count = 4,894 > F tabel = 3,94. Additionally significant value show that p = 0,029 < α = 0,05. The regression equation generated in this study is positive, which means that higher fathers involvement then makes rational decision making higher too. Besides, this reseaech R square of 0,047, which explains the influence of fathers involvement against rational decision making amount 47%. Based on the calculation of data shows that there is a significant influence of fathers involvement against rational decision making.

Abstract

The study is done to know the influence of father involvement on the tendency to become victims of conflict in dating relationship. Researcher used scale quantitative methods psychology. Researcher used adapted instrument, namely Nurturant Fathering Scales & Father Involvement Scale subscale Reported Father Involvement Scale and Conflict in Adolescent Dating Relationship Inventory (CADRI). There are 350 samples of respondent which is adolescent girl who has romantic relationship and living with their father. The data processing used in the testing of hypotheses analytics regression. The result of the influence is negative, this means that the higher father involvement, the lower on the tendency to become victims of dating violence in adolescent girl. The big influence of produced father involvement on the tendency to become victims of dating violence is 2,4% and the rest influenced by other factors.
