Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Dental and oral health services for elementary school students aged 6 to 12 years that have not been optimal. This show that the implementation of UKGS has not succeeded. Monitoring and evaluation on the implementation of UKGS is difficult because the reporting system of UKGS all this time is conducted manually at the end of the year using form combined with the report of the health center. The website-based UKGS management model is an information system that can be used to report the activities of UKGS directly and to monitor as well as evaluate the activities of UKGS to fit the targets that have been set. Objective: Produce innovations of the UKGS management model with relevant / appropriate information systems to increase the effectiveness and the efficiency in the implementation of UKGS in elementary school students. Methods: Research and Development (RD) and model trials using the method of pre-experimental. The respondents amounted to 48 populations which consist 24 dental therapist and 24 UKS teachers to assess the quality of E-UKGS management and the quality of information systems in the implementation of UKGS management. The result of design of the model were tested for validation by expert. The data were tested using paired difference test, proportion test, and linear regression test.Result: Validation by expert result the average value of 92, the category is very feasible, and with a p-value of 0,014. The quality of E-UKGS management after intervention has improved compared to before (p = 0.001). Respondent’s assessment stated that the quality of E-UKGS information system in the good category. Conclusion: The UKGS management model of elementary school based on information systems provides a significant increase in the quality of UKGS management and the quality of information systems in the good category.Key Words: Elementary school students, UKGS management model, information systemABSTRAKLatar Belakang: Pelayanan kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada anak sekolah dasar usia 6 s.d 12 tahun belum optimal. Abstract

Tooth brushing programs that have been carried out in schools have not been able to change the brushing behavior of elementary school students, shown by OHI-S value = 1.3; DMF-T=1.09, def-t=1.78. Program improvement in behavioral aspects needs to be done to improve the dental health level of elementary school students. Behavioral changes are influenced by information. Information will be stored as much as 20% if delivered through visuals, 50% of the cost is delivered through audiovisual media and 70% if implemented in real practice.  Analyze the effectiveness of the audiovisual media model on tooth brushing habits of schoolchildren Method is Quasy experiment with pretest and posttest with control group design. The sample was divided into 2 groups, the audiovisual model in the intervention group, and the brushing program in the control group. The treatment was carried out for 21 days, the measurements were carried out pre-experiment, 25th and 35th days. Data were tested using the test freedman post hoc Wilcoxon, Man Whitney repeated, and Kruskal.  On the 25th-day measurement of significant changes in variable ways, long brushing teeth p0.05. At the 35th day measurement, there was a significant change in the method variable, morning brushing teeth p0.05. This model is effective against the formation of the habit of brushing teeth indicated by p0.001. Mogigu  model’s has the potential as an alternative to brush your teeth together in school so that it can be applied in the School Dental Health Business.

Abstract

Early childhood suffer from very high dental and oral health problems. This problem is caused by poor knowledge and behavior of tooth brushing. An effort toincrease the knowledge and behavior of tooth brushing requires innovative media as per the age and parental assistance. This researce aims to develop innovative dental health education media to increase knowledge and behavior of preschool children. We undertook this study using Research and Development method with the stages of information collection, product build, validation by experts and finished product. The number of samples was 30 for each intervention and control group with a random sampling technique. Data were tested using ISO 9126, chi-square, Shapiro Wilk, Friedman and Man Whitney. The results of this study indicate that Smart Dental Alarm is more effective in increasing the knowledge and behavior of the tooth brushing behavior in preschool children than using power point regarding the pre-test, post-test 1 and 2 which obtain p-Value in 0.000. Smart Dental Alarm is more effective than power point because it is equipped with various features or media types that are intended to increase knowledge and behavior while power point only contains material with pictures.

Abstract

Children's oral and dental health needs to be maintained from an early age in order to sustain the integrity of their teeth. A new dental health care monitoring named SIMOGI (Dental Health Monitoring System) application is proposed. This application is used by parents and it’s integrated with dental therapist’s account. The application has features of dental health care checklist and dental danger sign.  The aim of this study is to analyze changes in parental behavior towards the maintenance of children's oral health with the implementation of SIMOGI. This research is an experimental study with pretest and posttest design with control group design. The total sample used is 20 parents of elementary school in grade 3. A behavioral questionnaire on dental and oral health maintenance on knowledge, attitudes and actions were done to measure the effect changes. The category is grouped into bad, fair and good. This experiment ran for 21 days. The analytical test used is univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test. The results show that in knowledge, there is no effect on control (p-value 1.000) and intervention group (p-value 0.785). There is effect on intervention group’s attitude (p-value 0.018) and no effect on control group (p-value 0.317). There is effect both in intervention (p-value 0.024) and control group (p-value 0.102). There is an effect of using the SIMOGI application on changes in parents' attitudes and actions in maintaining children's dental health. Knowledge of the parents is already in the good category.
