Abstract

This research had aimed to develop a Natural Science Learning Material with PDEODE strategy to minimize misconceptions of Junior High School students on material structure and function  of plant tissue. The learning instrument is developed by using 4-D model with a try out-design namely one group pre-test - post-test design. The lesson plan has been tried out to 25 students? of VIII-B class SMP Raden Rahmat Surabaya in the odd semester of  2016/2017 academic year. The data collection apply data validation, observation, achievement test, and questionnaire. The research data were analysed descriptively both qualitative and quantitative. The research findings were as follows: (1) The validity of the learning instrument which comprises Lesson Plan, Student Book, Student Worksheet, and a valid Identify Misconceptions Instrument; (2) The practicality of the learning instrument that can be found from: (a) the implementation of the lesson plans that is categorized as ?good?, (b) the students? activities and (3) The effectiveness of the learning instrument that was reviewed through: (a) the decrease misconception student from pretest to postest;; and (b) the response of students? . Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that the Natural Science Learning Instrument based Predict-Discuss-Explain Observe-Discuss-Explain (PDEODE) strategy was feasible to minimize of misconceptions student?s Junior High School.

Abstract

This research was done by developing learning materials (lesson plans, student?s worksheets, textbooks students, test understanding of the concept, Thinking skill and Social Skill) nested models based guided inquiry by using 4D development model to improve the understanding of the concept, thinking skills and social skills on the subject of light. The objective of this research is trial learning materials for 32 of junior high school?s students with the design of the one-group pretest-posttest design. Result was analyzed by descriptive quantitative - qualitative with: (a) validity of learning material is very valid category; (b) learning realization with good category; (c) the students response are positive; (d) student?s understanding of the concept is increased (high criteria); (e) thinking skill is increased (high criteria); (f) social skill increased in every meeting. In conclusions of this research, the nested model based learning guided inquiry concepts can improve the understanding concept, thinking skills, and social skill of junior high school

Abstract

Research aims to improve The development learning cooperative Model of Two Stay Two Stray type to improving Social Skills and Increase student outcomes which are validity, practically, and effectively in topic structure earth and disaster for eight grade students; and describing the realization result of instructional design plan, student?s learning outcomes, student?s responds, and the obstacles encountered in the implementation of learning. The research was conducted in two steps, The development of cooperative learning Model Two Stay Two Stray type for improve Social Skills and Increase student outcomes which referred to four-D instructional design model. The last step was tested the instructional design that has been developed on students. Subject of this research is students in class VIII SMPN 14 Bima city. Researcher use One Group Pretest-Posttest Design to test the instructional design that has been developed. Data collecting through validation, observation, test, documentation, and student respons questionnaire. Data analysis used descriptiv analysis. The development of cooperative learning Model Two Stay Two Stray type for improve Social Skills and Increase student outcome are validility, practically, and effectively topic structure earth and disaster.

Abstract

This research aimed to produce science comics products of earth disaster response, described the validity, practicality and effectiveness of comic learning tools based on socioscientific issues (SSI). SSI-based comics combined with guided inquiry models to increase interest and science learning achievement. It used to facilitate students learning in classrooms which mostly have a visual learning style. This research developed using 4-D model and designed using the one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 120 Grade VII students of Junior High School. The instruments used validation sheets, the implementation of learning, student activities, student responses in the form of modality and interest questionnaires, attitude assessment sheets, and written tests. The data were analyzed descriptively in the form of questionnaires and learning outcomes tests. This questionnaire contains statements and a Likert scale to measure students' learning modalities and interests, while the learning outcomes test is in the form of a multiple choice written test to measure students' cognitive abilities by determining the percentage of n-gain score and the percentage of learning completeness. The results showed that students' interest and learning achievement on earth disaster response material had increased in all classes because of the use of  SSI-based comic teaching materials that helped optimise the process of guided inquiry learning. The stage of guided inquiry also requires students to read a lot and discuss SSI problems in comics. Statistical tests showed that interest in learning affects increasing student learning achievement in Classes VII-B, VII-C, and VII-E because most students have visual learning modalities. But it did not have much impact on grades VII-A and VII-D, which are modality levels visual learning is still relatively low. This is due to the interest in learning which is influenced  by learning modalities, abilities, learning intensity, student attitudes, and student learning environment. So, great interest tends towards senior learning achievement as well, but not all show the influence of attention on it. Student responses were positive. Finally, SSI-based comic teaching materials in guided inquiry learning on earth disaster response materials are appropriate to be used to increase student interest and achievement in science.
