Abstract

Essential teaching skills of pre-service teachers, including scientific approach teaching in which become primary goal in science education, are often developed through modeling. This study utilized an instructional video in biology that showed scientific approach teaching in cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study was (1) to describe the teaching skills of pre-service biology teachers after a modeling session which used the instructional video using scientific approach in cooperative learning, and (2) to describe the views of those pre-service teachers in response to the learning process involving the instructional video. The study involved 11 pre-service teachers in Biology Education program, The State University of Surabaya, Indonesia. The pre-service teachers were asked to conduct teaching simulations according to the video they had observed with different biology topics. Results showed that the instructional video was effective in training pre-service teachers to implement scientific approach in their own cooperative learning. In addition, the pre-service teachers showed positive responses towards the video modeling. Educational implication of this study implies that the instructional video is able to train teaching skills of pre-service teachers.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop physics learning materials based on guided inquiry model integrated with virtual laboratory to practice student’s scientific argumentation skill. This research uses 4D development model and tested in 91 students, divided into three classes, X MIPA 1, X MIPA 2, and X MIPA 3 SMA Senopati Sedati with try out design using one group pretest-posttest design. The learning instruments developed are: (a) syllabus (b) lesson plan, (c) student’s book, (d) student worksheet, and (e) test of students’ scientific argumentation skill. The Research data gotten through validation method, observation, test, and questionnaire. The research result was analyzed descriptively quantitative and qualitative. The students’ scientific argumentation skill was analyzed with n-gain. The research result gotten are (a) the learning instruments developed categorized as very valid, (b) the learning activity was well done, (c) the students’ scientific argumentation skill run into enhancement in middle categorized, and (d) the students responded very positively to the learning that is already implemented. Based on analysis result and discussion, it can be concluded that the physics learning material guided inquiry model integrated with virtual laboratory developed is worthy to be used to practice students’ scientific argumentation skill.

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of learning materials taht developed using problem solving model to facilitate junior high school students? creative thinking skills on global warming. This research was done because the problem solving model?s learning materials to facilitate students? creative thinking skill was less available. Learning in schools was tend to emphasize the aspects of knowledge only, whereas creative thinking skill was an important skill possessed in the 21st century. Applying creative thinking skill in problem solving would generate a lot of ideas that were useful in finding solution. The learning materials were developed using 3D model and one group pretest-posttest design was used as the trial design. The subject in this study was learning materials that was implemented on 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Kediri. The results showed that the students' creative thinking skills both in general and each indicator increased. Based on the results and discussion of the study, it can be concluded that the learning materials using problem solving method were effective to facilitate junior high school students? creative thinking skills on global warming. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dengan model problem solving untuk melatihkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa SMP pada materi pemanasan global. Hal ini dilakukan karena perangkat pembelajaran dengan model problem solving untuk melatihkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif kurang tersedia. Pembelajaran di sekolah cenderung menekankan pada aspek pengetahuan saja, padahal keterampilan berpikir kreatif merupakan skill yang penting dimiliki pada abad 21. Penerapan berpikir kreatif dalam problem solving akan menghasilkan banyak ide yang berguna dalam menemukan penyelesaian masalah. Perangkat pembelajaran dikembangkan menggunakan model 3D dengan rancangan ujicoba penelitian one group pretest-posttest design.  Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah perangkat pembelajaran model problem solving yang diujicobakan pada 32 siswa SMP Negeri 1 Kediri kelas VII. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa baik secara umum maupun tiap indikator meningkat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan diskusi hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran model problem solving efektif untuk melatihkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa SMP pada materi pemanasan global.

Abstract

This research aimed to produce science learning material guided inquiry base a feasible to practice problem solving skills on topic mirror. The learning material was tested to VIII grade students of SMPN 1 Sedati Sidoarjo of the academic year 2014/2015. This research was one which used 4-D model development that was modified 3D (dissemination stage is not done). The test device used one group pretest-posttest design. Result of the research showed validity of learning material well categorized and could be used in learning with few revisions resulted realibility in RPP assessment, worksheet, student learning result and problem solving skills as much as 98%, 98,70%, (95,80% and 98,60%), and 98,82%. Based on result, research discussion, could be summarized that guided inquiry based science learning material to practice problem solving skills on topic mirror is feasible to be used in learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA berbasis inkuiri terbimbing yang layak untuk melatihkan keterampilan memecahkan masalah pada pokok bahasan cermin. Perangkat pembelajaran tersebut diujikan pada siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Sedati Sidoarjo tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan model 4-D yang dimodifikasi menjadi 3D (tahap desiminasi tidak dilakukan). Rancangan ujicoba perangkat menggunakan one group pretest-posttest design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan validitas perangkat pembelajaran berkategori baik dan dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran dengan sedikit revisi diperoleh reliabilitas penilaian RPP, LKS, hasil belajar siswa, dan keterampilan memecahkan masalah sebesar 98%, 98,70%, (95,80% dan 98,60%), dan 98,82. Berdasarkan hasil dan diskusi penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran IPA berbasis inkuiri terbimbing untuk melatihkan keterampilan memecahkan masalah pada pokok bahasan cermin layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Science learning materials with learning cycle 7E were developed to improve student?s critical thinking ability as the life necessities in 21st century. The purposes of this research are developing suitable science learning materials and complying eligible criteria, those are valid, practice, and effective. The subjects of this research was science learning materials with learning cycle 7E were developed to improve student?s critical thinking ability which implemented in students of first grade on junior high school of SMP Bilingual Terpadu Krian in second semester of 2015-2016 academic seasons. Learning materials were developed by 4D model and tested by using one group pretest-posttest design. Data was collected by the assessments of expert based on the validity of materials by expert, implemented lesson plan by observer, written test to measure the student?s critical thinking ability, and questionnaire to measure the student?s response of interest. The collected data was analyzed by qualitative and quantitative methods. The results of this research are the learning materials using learning cycle 7E is eligible to improve the student?s critical thinking ability. The contemplations of it are validation of the instruments in a good category, book can be read easily, feasibility of instruction in a good category, student?s critical thinking increase, student?s activities in the learning processes in a good category, and student?s response is positive.The research?s result axplain that effectiveness of lesson plain use 7E phase is not down if work sheet and students book develop by 7E phase too. The suggestion that can be inform was using 7E phase to develop work sheet and student?s book so that student?e activity more aimed and it make efficient of learning?s time. Perangkat pembelajaran IPA menggunakan learning cycle 7E dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebagai salah satu upaya memenuhi kebutuhan kehidupan abad 21. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan perangkat yang layak dan memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif. Subjek penelitian adalah perangkat pembelajaran IPA menggunakan ilearning cycle 7E yang diujicobakan pada siswa kelas VII SMP Bilingual Terpadu Krian pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2015-2016. Perangkat dikembangkan dengan model pengembangan 4D dan dilakukan ujicoba penerapan perangkat dengan one group pretest-posttest design. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah penilaian validitas oleh pakar, penilaian keterbacaan BAS oleh siswa, pengamatan keterlaksanaan RPPdan aktivitas siswa selama pembelajaran oleh pengamat, tes tulis untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa, dan angket respon yang diisi oleh siswa. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Simpulan hasil penelitian adalah perangkat pembelajaran menggunakan learning cycle 7E dinyatakan layak untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis ditinjau dari perangkat yang valid, BAS mudah dipahami, RPP terlaksana baik, kendala pembelajaran ditemukan solusi, kemampuan berpikir kritis meningkat, aktivitas siswa baik, dan respon siswa baik positif. Implikasi penelitian adalah penerapan RPP dengan tahap 7E tidak menurunkan keefektifan ditengah dan akhir pembelajaran jika LKS dan BAS yang mendukung dikembangkan dengan tahap 7E juga. Saran yang diberikan adalah mengembangkan perangkat dengan tahap 7E tidak hanya berlaku untuk RPP, LKS dan BAS juga dikembangkan dengan tahap 7E agar kegiatan siswa lebih terarah sehingga lebih efisien dalam waktu.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to compare the effectiveness of the guided discovery and the less structured discovery methods cognitive ability, free discovery skill, and autonomous character of the Junior High School. Forty Ponorogo Junior High School students have divided into two research classes were involved in this investigation using The Method of Science as the subject matter. The research was implemented in two phase, the development of the discovery learning resources, using the Kemp model, and the implementation of learning resources using the matching only pretest-posttest control group design (quasi experiment). From the hypothesis test (?: 0,005) showed that: (1)Cognitive skill of less structured discovery class higher than guided discovery class (Sig. 0.0025<?). The individual cognitive skill of guided discovery students increased from 20% to 65%, and for less structured discovery students increased from 10% to 80%; (2)Free discovery skill and autonomous character of less structured discovery class not higher than guided discovery class (free discovery skill Sig. 0,467>?; autonomous Sig.; 0,031; 0,028>?)  . Free discovery skill of guided discovery students increased from 20% to 80%, and that of less structured discovery students increased from 10% to 35%. The average percentage of autonomous character of guided discovery students ranges from 64,29% to 90,48%, and that of less structured discovery students ranges from 71,43% to 90,48%. The shortage of time allocation for the teaching and learning process was the main obstacle. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan tipe pembelajaran discovery (guided discovery dan less structured discovery) terhadap kemampuan kognitif, keterampilan free discovery, dan kemandirian siswa SMP. Subjek penelitian sejumlah 40 siswa yang dibagi dalam 2 kelas penelitian di SMP Negeri 1 Ponorogo kelas VII dengan materi pembelajaran metode ilmiah. Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam dua tahap, yakni tahap pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran discovery mengikuti rancangan Kemp dan tahap penerapan perangkat pembelajaran menggunakan rancangan penelitian the matching only pretest-posttest control group design (quasi experiment). Hasil uji hipotesis (?: 0,005) menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Kemampuan kognitif kelas less structured discovery lebih tinggi dari kelas guided discovery (Sig. 0,0025<?). Pada kelas guided discovery, kemampuan kognitif berdasarkan ketuntasan individu mengalami peningkatan dari 20% menjadi 65% dan pada kelas less structured discovery mengalami peningkatan dari 10% menjadi 80%. 2) Keterampilan free discovery dan kemandirian siswa kelas less structured discovery tidak lebih tinggi dari kelas guided discovery (keterampilan free discovery Sig. 0,467> ?; kemandirian Sig. 0,031; 0,028>?). Pada kelas guided discovery, keterampilan free discovery mengalami peningkatan dari 20% menjadi 80% dan pada kelas less structured discovery mengalami peningkatan dari 10% menjadi 35%. Rata-rata persentase kemandirian pada kelas guided discovery bervariasi 64,29%  hingga 90,48% dan kelas less structured discovery antara 71,43%  hingga 90,48%. Waktu menjadi hambatan utama dalam penelitian ini sehingga dibutuhkan pengalokasian yang lebih baik pada setiap tahapan pembelajaran.

Abstract

This research aims to produce the teaching materials based on  science cooperative Group Investigation model which is valid, practical, and effective to facilitate the students? decision making skill. The development of teaching material used the 4-D model  and was implemented in 7th-B grade of SMPN 6 Surabaya in the first  semester of  2015/2016 by using the Pre-Experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The data collection used validation, observation, quetionnaires, test, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis.The results of this research are:(1) Teaching material developed to be use consisted of Syllabus, Lesson Plan, Book, Student Worksheet and Test of student learning outcomes are valid; (2) The practicality of teaching material categorized in terms of: (a) The teaching materials categorized in  feasibility of lesson plan, (b) The legibility of the student book;(c) The constraints encountered obstacles during the implemantion and (3) The teaching material effectiveness in terms of: (a) Improving students? learning decision making skill by getting gain score in medium category; (b) Improving students? learning achievement by getting score in medium catagory; (c) The students give a positive responses toward teaching material and implementation of teaching material developed . Thus, teaching materials based on science cooperative Group Investigation model are valid, practical, and effective to facilitate the students? scientific decision making skill in VII grade of Junior High School. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA model kooperatif tipe Group Investigation yang valid, praktis dan efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam mengambil keputusan. Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran menggunakan model 4-D  dan diujicobakan di Kelas VII-B SMPN 6 Surabaya pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2015/2016 dengan One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode validasi, observasi, angket, dokumentasi, dan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan: (1) Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan meliputi Silabus, RPP, Bahan Ajar Siswa, LKS, dan Lembar Penilaian berkategori valid; (2) Perangkat pembelajaran berkategori praktis ditinjau dari: (a) Keterlaksanaan RPP, (b) Keterbacaan bahan ajar siswa, (c) Kendala-kendala yang dijumpai selama proses KBM; serta (3) Perangkat pembelajaran telah efektif ditinjau dari: (a) Peningkatan nilai keterampilan siswa dalam mengambil keputusan siswa dengan perolehan skor n-gain pada kategori sedang, (b) Peningkatan nilai pengetahuan dengan perolehan skor n-gain pada kategori sedang, (c) Siswa merespon positif perangkat yang dikembangkan dan implementasinya. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran IPA model kooperatif tipe Group Investigation yang digunakan valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam mengambil keputusan di kelas VII SMP

Abstract

Blended learning is basically a combination or mixture found in learning practice. Blended learning is a further development of the e-learning method, namely learning methods that combine e-learning systems with conventional or face-to-face methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of the models and learning devices both in terms of content and model constructs, as well as to find out student responses to the model developed. The model developed was validated through a forum mechanism, namely, focus group discussion (FGD) which was followed by researchers and experts. The suggestions and improvements generated from the validation activities were then followed up to revise the Inquiry Collaborative Tutorial-based blended learning model. Inquiry Collaborative Tutorial-based blended learning model and learning devices developed in this study have met valid criteria in content and construct. Valid content because there are elements of need and novelty, as well as valid constructs because there is consistency between parts of the model and there is relevance between the models developed with learning theories that underlie it. In general, the average student responds positively to the blended learning model based on the Inquiry Collaborative Tutorial. The model applied is considered to provide opportunities for students to actively participate.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA yang layak untuk melatih literasi  siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Pengembangan perangkat menggunakan model pembelajaran 4D, dan diujicobakan di kelas VII SMP Al Hikmah Surabaya tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Pembelajaran ini dilaksanakan dengan menerapkan perangkat pembelajaran model Cooperative Learning. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode validasi, observasi, tes dan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil analisis data penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan sangat valid; (2) pembelajaran terlaksana dengan kategori baik; (3) perangkat yang disusun dapat melatih literasi sains siswa sehingga mendapatkan N-Gain 0,84 dengan kategori tinggi; (4) Siswa memberikan respons positif terhadap pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat yang dikembangkan dengan model Cooperative Learning layak digunakan untuk melatih literasi sains siswa.

Abstract

Teaching and learning in school only emphasizes on the aspects of knowing and understanding. An aspect of the analysis, application, synthesis and evaluation is implemented very rarely so the teaching learning process lead to remembering aspect. This study aims to fasilitate students' creative thinking skills using a TASC oriented learning at 29 senior high school students at  X-MIA3 class using one-group pretest-posttest design.  The development of the teaching learning materials used  4D models. Based on the validator?s result the average rating 4,24, while validity og lesson plan the validator?s give an average 4,15 (feasible). The  validator?s also give the average value of materials students 4,25 (feasible). Data were analyzed qualitative descriptively in the implementation of lesson plan was in and test of student learning outcomes good results (with range 3,7-4). Tests of student learning outcomes with median 89,7. Creativel thinking skills of students showed an increase of the number of relevant answers. From the response of students, generally positive response the learning with TASC approach to facility students' creativel thinking skills.  Based on the result can be concluded that the TASC oriented learning  is feasible and can facilitate students' creativel thinking skills. Proses belajar mengajar di sekolah lebih banyak menekankan pada aspek mengetahui dan memahami. Aspek analisis, aplikasi, sintesis dan evaluasi jarang sekali dilakukan sehingga mengajarkan siswa dalam belajar hafalan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melatih keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa menggunakan perangkat pembelajaran berorientasi pendekatan TASC dengan ujicoba pada 29 siswa SMA kelas X-MIA3 dengan rancangan one group pretest-posttest, pengembangan dengan model 4D. Berdasarkan hasil validasi RPP para validator memberikan nilai rata-rata 4,24, sedangkan validitas LKS rata-rata 4,15 dengan kategori layak untuk digunakan. Para validator memberikan nilai rata-rata bahan ajar siswa 4,25 dengan kategori layak digunakan. Data hasil keterlaksanaan pembelajaran  dan tes hasil belajar dianalisis dengan deskriptif kualitatif dengan hasil keterlaksanaan pembelajaran baik (dengan rentang 3,7- 4). Tes hasil belajar siswa mengalami peningkatan rata-rata skor 89,7. Keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa menunjukkan adanya peningkatan dari jumlah jawaban yang relevan. Siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap pembelajaran TASC untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Simpulan peneliti bahwa perangkat pembelajaran berorientasi pendekatan TASC layak untuk digunakan dan dapat melatih keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa.
