Abstract

Abstrak Abstrak: Penelitian inibertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA berorientasi model pembelajaran pemaknaan. Penelitian ini dikembangkan menggunakan rancangan 4-D yang disederhanakan menjadi (Define-Design–Develop). Perangkat diujicobakan di kelas IV A SDN 001 Sangata Utara  menggunakan rancangan Time Series. Perangkat yang dikembangkan meliputi: RPP, materi ajar, LKS, THB, dan tes sikap. Perangkat  dinyatakan layak dan dapat digunakan sebagai perangkat. Tingkat kesulitan materi ajar dan LKS 13,6% dan 12,2%, tingkat keterbacaan materi ajar dan LKS  82,6% dan 84, 2%. Tingkat keterlaksanaan RPP dalam implementasi 100% (kategori baik), aktivitas yang mendominasi adalah aktivitas yang berpusat pada siswa ( 81,35%), respon siswa menunjukkan respon positif 90,3%. Rata-rata pemahaman konsep siswa 81,08. Jumlah siswa yang memiliki sikap toleransi dan peduli yang positif setelah implementasi 21 siswa.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan diskusi, disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran berorientasi model pembelajaran pemaknaan dapat mengajarkan pemahaman konsep dan sikap positif siswa. Kata kunci: Perangkat Pembelajaran, Model Pemaknaan, Pemahaman Konsep, Sikap Positif Abstract Abstract: This research aims to develop a science learning materials oriented visual analogy model This research was developed using 4-D design which simplified into (Define-Design-Develop). The materials learning are implemented in  fourth grade SDN 001 Sangata Utara using Time Series Design. Learning materials  weredeveloped including: lesson plans, teaching materials, worksheets, concepts understanding test, and attitude test. Learning materials are feasible and can be used as the devices. Difficulty level of teaching materials and Worksheet are 13.6% and 12.2%, readability level teaching materials and Worksheet are 82.6% and 84, 2%. Lesson plan feasibility level in the implementation of 100% (good category), activities that dominated is student-centered activities, (81.35%), student responses indicate a positive response of 90.3%. Average student’s concepts understanding is 81.08. Number of students who have a positive attitude of tolerance and caring after implementation are 21 students. Based on the results of research and discussion, it was concluded that learning materials oriented visual analogy model can be to teach concepts understanding and positive attitudes of students. Abstract

Recently,2013 curriculum is the best curriculum that have ever had for school in Indonesia. Based on the design, this curriculum comprehend in building human (students) and anticipate for the future. 2013 curriculum is the first curriculum that contain behavior or character explicitly as a competence that must be achieved and organize balancing act between students’ soft skills and hard skill. In addition, Scoring of students’ achievement in learning done comprehensively and continuity use many kinds of strategies that related with competence indicator that will be measured. The success of curriculum in reaching the mission is not only determined by the design, but the important thing is the implementation in the field; realizing the 2013 curriculum in schools. Special for learning science in elementary school must instruct to develop thinking skills and creativity.The teaching learning process focuses on scientific approachs and integrated 4 component result study in 2013 curriculum, they are:spritual attitude, social attitude, creativity, and knowledge.Special for attitude is not only taught verbally, but also by giving good example .Keywords: Science Learning, 2013 Curriculum

Abstract

This research aims to develop learning materials based on a guided inquiry-based model and a PhET-assisted learning process which are valid, practical, and effective. The development of learning materials utilized a 4D model without dissemination. The developed learning materials were tested using one group pretest-posttest design at Grade 8, SMPN 3 Airmadidi, North Minahasa in Semester 1 the 2016/2017 Academic Year. Data collection were performed using validation, observation, written test, and questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results show that: (1) the validity of developed learning materials which include lesson plan, worksheet, student book, and assessment instrument is achieved; (2) practicality in terms of adherence to lesson plans categorized practical, student activities in learning have reflecting activities that correspond to the stage of guided inquiry-based learning, the difficulties encountered in learning activities that students have not been accustomed to follow guided inquiry-based learning method and use of PhET; (3) student’s responses are effective with respect to the developed learning materials used in class, indicating that the materials are effective for students in mastery learning in terms of cognitive, attitude, and skill aspects. Based on research findings and the corresponding analyses, the developed learning materials are appropriate in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness for using of science learning in class.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to develop and implement biology learning materials based on metacognitive strategy. The learning material was developed by using 4-D model, including the Definition, Design, Develop phase, whereas the Disseminate phase was not conducted because this research is classified as the development research. This research was conducted in one of the senior high schools in East Java. Validating, observing, and giving questionnaire were implemented to collect various information during implementation of the learning materials. The findings from this research showed that the learning materials are valid, practical, and effective in empowering students both in terms of attention and learning outcomes. There were several obstacles occurred during the implementation of the learning materials, i.e. students were confused of new task and learning strategy and were not accostumed in correcting and acknowledged their own mistakes. Alternative solutions were given by providing guidance and information to students about learning using metacognitive strategy, so that students were expected to follow the learning with ease, as well as to train their reflective thinking skill and using an analogy which easier to understand.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan dan mengimplementasikan perangkat pembelajaran Biologi berbasis metakognitif. Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran menggunakan model 4-D, meliputi tahap pendefinisian (Definition), perancangan (Design), dan pengembangan (Develop), sedangkan tahap penyebaran (Disseminate) tidak dilakukan karena penelitian ini tergolong penelitian pengembangan. Penelitian dilakukan di salah satu Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Negeri di Jawa Timur. Observasi, angket, dan tes digunakan untuk mengumpulkan variasi informasi selama implementasi perangkat pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perangkat pembelajaran ini valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk melatihkan keterampilan berpikir reflektif. Terdapat hambatan yang ditemui selama implementasi perangkat pembelajaran. Beberapa siswa bingung akan tugas dan strategi belajar baru, dan belum terbiasa mengoreksi dan mengakui kesalahan diri sendiri. Alternatif solusi yang diberikan dengan memberikan pengarahan dan informasi kepada siswa tentang pembelajaran menggunakan strategi metakognitif dengan harapan siswa lebih mudah dalam mengikuti pembelajaran, memberikan bimbingan untuk melatih keterampilan berpikir reflektif, dan membuat analogi yang mudah dipahami siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak kerang pisau dan kerang simping dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri uji berdasarkan zona jernih yang terbentuk dan menentukan jenis ekstrak kerang yang paling optimal dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri uji. Kerang pisau yang diperoleh dari Pantai Talang Siring Madura dan kerang simping yang diperoleh dari Lamongan diekstrak dengan menggunakan metode ekstraksi bertingkat dengan tiga pelarut,. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan delapan perlakuan dan tiga ulangan, yaitu pemberian kontrol negatif (akuades), kontrol positif (kloramfenikol), ekstrak heksana, ekstrak etil asetat, ekstrak metanol kerang pisau serta ekstrak heksana, ekstrak etil asetat, ekstrak metanol kerang simping. Data yang diperoleh berupa diameter zona jernih, dianalisis dengan analisis varian satu arah dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Berdasarkan hasil uji diketahui bahwa ekstrak etil asetat dan metanol kerang pisau serta ekstrak heksana, etil asetat, dan metanol kerang simping menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri dan mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri uji Staphylococcus aureus FNCC 0047 dan Escherichia coli FNCC 0091. Ekstrak etil asetat kerang pisau terbukti menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri paling baik, yaitu menunjukkan diameter zona jernih paling besar dibanding dengan ekstrak-ekstrak yang lain. Ekstrak etil asetat kerang pisau mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dengan membentuk zona jernih sebesar 32,10 0,17 mm, sedangkan pada bakteri Escherichia coli ekstrak etil asetat kerang pisau mampu menghambat pertumbuhannya dengan zona jernih yang terbentuk sebesar 32,06 1,07 mm.This research aimed to test the antibacterial activities of the extracts of razor clams and window-pane oyster and determine the extract that can inhibit the growth of tested bacteria optimally based on clear zones formed. Razor clams collected from Talang Siring Beach, Madura and window-pane oyster collected from Lamongan. They were extracted using multilevel extraction method using three organic solvents. Antibacterial activities assay were carried out using completely randomized design with eight treatments. All assays were conducted in triplicate. The treatments were negative control (aquades), positive control (100% of chloramphenicol in aquades), hexane extract, ethyl acetate extract, and methanol extract of each razor clams and window-pane oyster. Diameters of inhibiton zone (clear zone) were analyzed using one way analysis of variance and followed by Duncans test. The results revealed that ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of razor clams as well as hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol extracts of window-pane oyster showed antibacterial activities. These mean they can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus FNCC 0047 dan Escherichia coli FNCC 0091. Ethyl acetate extract of razor clams showed the highest antibacterial activity, the maximum zone of inhibition (32.10 0.17 mm) was observed against Staphylococcus aureus and the maximum zone of inhibition (32.06 1.07 mm) was observed against Escherichia coli.

Abstract

Competencies of nowadays biology pre-service teacher is an important key for the future education quality. This article aimed to discuss the effectiveness of Thinking Working Scaffolding Sharing (TWSS) model implementaton in Departement of Biology UM. This quantitative descriptive study used learning outcomes (professional and pedagogical competencies), attitudes, and group activity of biology pre-service teacher as determinant factors of the TWSS model effectiveness. The instrument to collect the data for those parameters were product assessment and observation sheet. Universitas Negeri Malang assessment guideline was utilized to determine the pre-service teachers’ competencies; meanwhile, the percentage calculation was employed as the data analysis procedure to proceed the data. The results informed: 1) the mean values of learning outcomes for professional and pedagogical competencies were 94 and 74, respectively; 2) 92% of students showed individual responsibility in completing their tasks (in which 46% was categorized as ‘excellent’ and the other 46% was considered as ‘good’); 3) 85% of students performed excellent attitude in their group work. Therefore, the implementation of TWSS model is effective to improve natural science competencies for biology pre-service teacher.

Abstract

In evaluating the effectiveness of the 5Es model with analogy to providing access of deep understanding and attitudes to learn science, a case study research was brought involving 27 undergraduates who took The Human Anatomy and Physiology course. The data gathered were then analyzed using qualitative descriptive technique. The results informed that most students were successful to have deep understanding towards abstract concepts showing by grade of at least C or acceptable level and good attitudes  to  learn  science  within  which  all  students  possessed  the  same  perception  corresponding  to  interest  and  enjoyment regardless any different level of achievement. Overall, it could be concluded that the 5Es model with analogy was quietly effective to make deep understanding and attitudes to learn science appear in students? learning.Dalam mengevaluasi keefektifan model 5Es dengan analogi terhadap pemahaman mendalam dan sikap belajar sains, sebuah studi kasus dilakukan dengan melibatkan 27 mahasiswa yang memprogram Mata Kuliah Anatomi dan Fisiologi Manusia. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian tersebut menginformasikan bahwa umumnya siswa berhasil untuk memahami konsep yang abstrak secara mendalam yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai minimal C dan memiliki sikap belajar sains yang baik terkait dengan kesenangan dan minat belajar tanpa menghiraukan pencapaian hasil belajar mereka. Oleh karena itu, dapat simpulkan bahwa model pengajaran 5E dan analogi terbukti efektif untuk memunculkan pemahaman konsep secara mendalam dan sikap belajar sains.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is produce Biology learning material based on metacognitive that valid, practical, and effective to practice reflective thinking skill. The development of learning material use the 4-D model and try out to do in class X 1 and X-2 of SMAN 1 Driyorejo second semester in academic year 2014/2015. Design of try out is One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The method of collecting data used document, observation, validation, test, and quetionnaires. The data analysis techniques used descriptive analysis of quantitative and qualitative. The results of this research are: 1) learning material developed has a valid category; 2) learning material in terms implementation of lesson plans category in feasibility and the activities of students according to the steps of metacognitive learning strategies with STAD cooperative model; and 3) the effectiveness of learning material in terms of: (a) improving student aspect of knowledge learning outcomes visible from the n-gain score with high category; (b) the completeness honesty of students respectively by 82.64% and 86.11% with the good category; c) the students responds toward material and implementation of learning positive. The conclusion is acquired from the results of this research show that the learning material based on metacognitive are proper valid, practical, and effective to practice reflective thinking skills of student. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran Biologi berbasis metakognitif yang valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk melatihkan kejujuran siswa. Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran menggunakan model 4-D dan uji coba dilakukan di kelas X-1 dan X-2 SMAN 1 Driyorejo semester genap tahun ajaran 2014/2015 dengan rancangan penelitian One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode dokumen, observasi, validasi, tes, dan angket. Teknik analisis data   menggunakan  analisis   deskriptif   kuantitatif   dan   kualitatif.   Hasil   penelitian   menunjukkan: 1) perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan berkategori valid;   2) perangkat pembelajaran ditinjau dari keterlaksanaan RPP berkategori praktis dan aktivitas siswa sesuai pada tahap-tahap strategi belajar metakognitif dengan model kooperatif tipe STAD; dan 3) keefektifan perangkat pembelajaran ditinjau dari: (a) peningkatan hasil belajar aspek pengetahuan siswa terlihat dari n-gain dengan kategori tinggi; (b) ketuntasan kejujuran siswa masing-masing sebesar 82,64% dan 86,11% dengan kategori baik; dan (e) respon siswa terhadap perangkat dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran positif. Simpulan yang diperoleh dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran berbasis metakognitif yang dikembangkan layak valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk melatihkan kejujuran siswa

Abstract

To promote the knowledge of plant anatomy which is frequently taught using traditional method, students need to be involved in authentic learning by providing them an authentic task. Therefore, the aims of this current research are to implement a certain authentic task of plant anatomy; to evaluate the effectiveness of the task on the students? learning achievement includes their performances, knowledge mastery, and perceptions of the task; and to describe some difficulties that occurred during the implementation of the authentic task. This case study research involved a single class consisted of 25 bachelor degree students as the subjects of this research. Observation, interview, and test were implemented to collect variety information during implementation ofthe authentic task. The findings showed that the students? performance scores and the percentage of mastered indicators met the minimum mastery criteria, but the percentage of classical mastery was less than the criteria. It means the authentic task had positive impact only on students? performance, but it could not help the whole students to master the topic. However, regarding to perception, both higher and lower achiever students thought the task was authentic. Nevertheless, there were four obstacles occurred during implementation of the authentic task, they were students? confusion of the task, students? difficulty to make microscope slides,students? difficulty to identify plant structures, and the limited time. Overall, it can be concluded that, contrary to what was expected, the implemented authentic task in this study was not effective for the learners in order to get a good holistic learning achievement due to the difficulties. Therefore, in designing a well authentic task, the educators or developer need to think not only the task, but also students? skills and time allocation. Dalam rangka meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang anatomi tumbuhan yang biasanya diajarkan melalui metode tradisional, siswa perlu dilibatkan dalam pembelajaran autentik melalui pemberian tugas autentik. Oleh karenanya, tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk menerapkan suatu tugas autentik tentang anatomi tumbuhan; untuk mengevaluasi keefektivan tugas tersebut terhadap hasil belajar siswa yang meliputi hasil kinerja, ketuntasan materi ajar, dan persepsi siswa terhadap tugas tersebut; serta untuk mendeskripsikan kesulitan-kesulitan yang terjadi selama penerapan tugas autentik. Penelitian dengan tipe penyelidikan kasus ini melibatkan satu kelas yang terdiri atas 25 siswa S1 sebagai subjek penelitian. Pengamatan, wawancara, dan tes diterapkan untuk mengumpulkan berbagai informasi selama penerapan tugas autentik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor kinerja siswa dan persentase ketuntasan indikator memenuhi kriteria ketuntasan minimum, tetapi persentase ketuntasan klasikal tidak mencapai kriteria tersebut. Hal tersebut berarti tugas autentik yang diterapkan memiliki dampak positif hanya terhadap hasil kinerja siswa, tetapi tugas tersebut belum dapat membantu seluruh siswa untuk menuntaskan materi ajar. Walaupun demikian, berkaitan dengan persepsi siswa, baik siswa yang memperoleh nilai tinggi maupun rendah menganggap tugas tersebut autentik. Akan tetapi, terdapat empat kendala yang terjadi selama penerapan tugas autentik tersebut, yaitu: kebingungan siswa terhadap tugas yang diberikan; kesulitan siswa dalam membuat preparat dan mengidentifikasi struktur tanaman; serta keterbatasan waktu yang tersedia. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa, berbeda dengan yang diharapkan, tugas autentik yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini tidak effektif bagi siswa dalam rangka memperoleh hasil belajar holistik yang baik karena kesulitan-kesulitan yang muncul selama penerapannnya. Oleh karena itu, dalam merancang suatu tugas autentik yang baik, pengajar perlu memikirkan tidak hanya tugas autentik itu sendiri, tetapi juga keterampilan siswa dan alokasi waktu.
