Abstract

This company is a well-known non-stick cookwares manufacturer company for Indonesia and abroad. This thesis is subjected to how improvement plan Safety and Healthy Work Management System in company is suitable based on government criterion. The Safety and Healthy Work Management System verification is based on percentage of criterion by government. The percentage of suitable Safety and Healthy Work activities activities is 68,9%, that means company obedience level on government criterion is good. The Safety and Healthy Work Management System also has maturity level of implementation system. As the company is with intermediate risk, the percentage of maturity level is 91,80% from 122 criterias. Improvement suggestion is prospected to improve Safety and Healthy Work Management System implementation in company which later can be occur if there are any commitment and responsibility between top management and workers.

Abstract

PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Feedmill Balaraja is a company that produce animal feed. One of the main processes that influence the hand add process to determine the level of food quality itself. The process carried out in the hand add area is the weighing of the seasoning material to be produced. The quantity and type of material to be weighed is also on request from the PPIC Department that determines the feed code to be produced.The environment in the hand add area itself in terms of Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain not seen in the area of the hand add area. One of the improvement efforts that can be done by applying the 5S method. Improvements using the 5S method can fix up the hand add area and improve operator performance. The increase in performance hand add operator is 20,6%.

Abstract

PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Feedmill is one of the largest animal feed companies in Indonesia. One of the obstacles experienced by PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Feedmill Balaraja is the downtime due to the replacement of the (sifter change) sieve fabric that is on the pellet machine 7. The frequency of downtime caused by the replacement (sifter change) of this sieve cloth occurs 2-3 times in 1 month. The method used to solve and analyze downtime problems is to use DMAIC with the five why's Analyze tool. There are several factors that cause downtime because the fabric is not strong vibration sieve, the fabric is too tight, and blacu material is not durable. Proposed improvements made is to install verloop and change the installation method of the sieve fabric. The result of the improvement is reduced the frequency of downtime to 2 times in 2 months and reduce waste cost. The Results of the implementation will be compared in the last 2 months, February and March 2018, company achieve cost savings Rp. 194.645.793,00 in terms of pellet, while in terms of packging Rp. 193.208.052,00. Another Sugesstion is to control the sieve fabric by the checklist.

Abstract

PT XYZ is a manufacturing company engaged in the manufacture of heat exchangers. PT XYZ has a make to order demand fulfillment strategy with large product variations. The existing production process at the company consists of several lines, one of which is the SS-CS line. SS-CS line has a bottleneck in one of the processes, which is welding process. The welding process itself is done by welder and welding preparation operator. The number of welders and welding preparation operators is considered unbalanced, causing a bottleneck in the welding process. The purpose of this research is to find the optimal number of welder and welding preparation operator so that the welding process no longer having bottleneck. The optimal number of welder through calculation result and simulation is 16 people while operator welding preparation is 7 people. The output produced with the optimal number of workers can reach more than 2 times the original condition. The average utility of both types of workers is over 90% and is almost balanced with a 5.98% difference. By implementing this proposal, the company can save Rp. 504,523.90 per month in terms of not needing anymore overtime costs that have been issued and the salary addition of workers to be issued.

Abstract

Performance measurement is important for a company to assess the achievement of targets from its departments. Research was done at an international furniture company. The company is currently measuring work performance using quality target that have been set by management. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) uses quality objectives and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) as the basis for measurement. The BSC design is carried out not only measures the financial aspects, but also non financial aspects. The BSC design is carried out in five departments, namely Quality Assurance (QA), Human Resource Development (HRD), production P1, logistics, and purchasing department. The result of design is the strategy map and the causal relationship between quality objectives. The causal relationship between quality objectives shows the quality objectives with the longest chain and the quality objectives which is the final goal. Analysis is carried out on the result of monitoring of quality targets with the longest chain so that problems are identified and can provide proposed solutions.

Abstract

PT X is a shipping and logistic company that has been operating since 1970 in Surabaya City. One of the divisions in PT X is Division Y. The problem of Division Y is the workload imbalance between employees in one department. This research aims to measure the employee workload condition and provide suggestions to improve the workload balance among employees. This research uses the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) method, where the employee’s total workload will be compared to the total effective working time available. The results of measuring the six department workload of Division Y show that 25,7% of employees is underload, 62,8% of employees have a normal workload, and 11,4% of employees is overload. The workload improvements that carried out are proposing additional job to the underload employees, shifting job between employees, and updating the information system program. These improvements were able to improve the employee workload balance to 11% of underload employees, 86% of normal load employees, and 3% of overload employees.

Abstract

PT. X is a company engaged in the production of cosmetic packaging. The problem faced by the company is the changeover time of the Novax AD Machine which exceeds the company’s target. The company has made improvements to the engine changeover activity. The changeover time after implementation of the improvement still exceeds the target set by the company. The purpose of this research is to provide a changeover design to reduce the changeover time. The methods used are Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) and Define Measure Analyze Improve Control (DMAIC). Activities carried out for repairs are preparation activities, color actions, blower settings, and printing area positioning. Improvement efforts made by the author are the use of a colorimeter, torque wrench, the use of a special box for setup equipment, and the application of a maintenance blower. Control of proposed improvements is by making tool use guidelines and a checklist for the blower maintenance schedule. Implementation cannot be done because there is no setup schedule. The making of proposal has been discussed with the head of production who understands the machine setup in detail. The proposal is believed to reduce the changeover time because it has answered the root cause of each setup activity.

Abstract

The rempelas production company is a company engaged in sandpaper. The company has two main products, namely cone sandpaper and belt sandpaper. The implementation of ISO 9001:2015 in Rempelas Production Companies is carried out to help companies ensure the quality of the company's quality management system so that the company can expand its market and be able to compete internationally. To be able to meet the ISO 9001:2015 standard, the company needs to fulfill several important documents that can help the company to develop further and explain what is being done and can guarantee the quality management system in the company. The design of ISO begins by analyzing all internal and external issues of the company after a risk analysis is carried out which is then made for completion. With the design of ISO 9001:2015, it can help companies fulfill ISO documents which initially only fulfilled three documents to nineteen documents out of a total of twenty four documents.

Abstract

This research has done at a manufacture company engaged in consumer good with many various product, one of there is mosquito coils. The mosquito coils have a variety of brand depending on concerned country. In the production process, often happen non-value added activity, especially on the production line number 5 which is used as a object of observation. This happen because the company doesn’t have standard operating procedure (SOP) for overall and work instruction (WI) for each process. This problem can be solved using SOP design for the overall production process and WI for each process that contained in the SOP. SOP and WI are re-designed with hope can help company in reducing the number of non-value added activities like rewrapping process, repacking process, and resealing master carton process. Reduction of non value added activity can help the companies to reduce waste from repetitive process like overproduction, overprocessing, inventory, motion, waiting, defects, and transportations.

Abstract

PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (PT TMMIN) is an automotive manufacturing company and also exporter of Toyota cars and car components. Cars are made from a variety of components that are supplied from domestic (local) and abroad (imported). The import component has negative impact on PT TMMIN’s revenue. The negative impacts are due to IDR exchange rate against the US Dollar which tends to weaken from year to year. Localization of imported components is done to reduce the impact of purchases with foreign currency. The localization process is carried out by forex strategic localization team with manual document process. The manual process takes long time. The analysis process for solving problems using DMAIC approach. The improvement solution is done by designing a macro-VBA program. This improvement reduces process lead time, the decrease occurred between 88,57% to 98,47%. This improvement shows that macro-VBA have a significant impact on the time reduction.
