Abstract

This study aims to explore preservice teacher’s perception of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study is a descriptive-exploratory research where respondents are 107 preservice teachers from four study programs that provide preservice teacher’s education, namely Mathematics Education, Biology Education, Physics Education, and Chemistry Education in the Mandalika University of Education–Indonesia. An instrument in the form of a questionnaire was used with a Likert scale and has been validated (expert validation). The research data were analyzed descriptively and statistically using the analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. The study results show that the preservice teacher’s perception of online learning modes during the Covid-19 pandemic is “quite” category, and there is no significant difference in preservice teachers' perceptions of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. Descriptions of the results of further studies are presented in this article

Abstract

The essential oil content of cloves can be used as a base for aromatherapy soap. The manufacturing process is an example of implementing applied chemistry in everyday life that utilizes local Maluku wisdom. The purpose of this study was to create an aromatherapy soap innovation from clove leaves as a valid android-based booklet media in applied chemistry learning. This research was conducted by making aromatherapy soap from clove leaves and testing the quality of the soap and then making an android-based booklet with materials for making aromatherapy soap to support applied chemistry learning. The android-based booklet media that was created was validated by experts and then analyzed using the content validity coefficient formula according to Gregory. The results showed that aromatherapy soap from clove leaves met the quality standards of hand-washing liquid soap. And the best treatment of aromatherapy soap is at a concentration of 15% with a pH of 6.98, free alkali of 0.02%, and total plate count of 6.00 x 100. The results of the content validity analysis obtained information that the android-based booklet media in applied chemistry learning has met the criteria valid where the overall content validity coefficient is 75%. The resulting android-based booklet media can make it easier for students to learn applied chemistry online and offline

Abstract

Pulau Ay is an island located west of the Banda Islands, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province. Nearly 85% of the soil structure on Ay Island is filled with coral reefs, so it is very difficult to get clean water and the people of Ay Island only rely on rainwater to get clean water. The purpose of this research is to innovate to purify seawater into drinking water in the village of Pulau Ay and test the quality of the water produced. This research was conducted by designing a seawater purification device called Tampayang (Ay Island's drinking water station) consisting of a water storage barrel, a simple filter, a seawater distillation apparatus and a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane machine. The water produced from the purification of seawater is then analyzed in a laboratory according to Indonesian national standard and the regulation of the Minister of Health of 2010 concerning drinking water quality requirements. The results showed that the Tampayang tool produces 2 types of water, namely clean water and drinking water. After being tested both types of water meet the water quality requirements for consumption based on physical, chemical and biological parameters. The clean water and drinking water produced can be useful and consumed by the people of Ay Island as a solution to seawater utilization
