Abstract

Teachers’ role in teaching and learning processes as well as 21 century’s demands, prompted pre-service teachers’ education program to ensure that pre-service teachers will be able to train critical thinking skills to their respective students because critical thinking is an important skill needed by future learners. We developed Inquiry-Based Active Learning Model (ABI) which was implemented to 34 Physics pre-service teachers in one of Teacher Training Institution (LPTK) in Indonesia. The implemented learning model was able to increase critical thinking skills and decreased the number of pre-service teachers previously categorized in a less critical category. In overall, critical thinking skills enhancement after the implementation of ABI learning model is categorized as moderate. We concluded that to some extent, the developed ABI learning model enhanced physics pre-service teachers’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Critical thinking has become a major competency of higher education learning in Indonesia; therefore, a specific learning model that is oriented towards improving students' critical thinking skills is important to be developed. This study aims to develop an Inquiry Creative Process (ICP) learning model to promote critical thinking skills of physics prospective teachers. This research is the first step of development research which produce learning model with valid criteria on content validity and construct validity aspects. The validation of ICP learning model has been done through focus group discussion (FGD) mechanism involving 5 experts as validator. The data of the validation results of the model were analyzed descriptively by averaging the validation score. Validation results show that the validity level (Va) of 4.12. The conceptual framework and validation results of the ICP learning model are described in this article.Berpikir kritis telah menjadi kompetensi utama pembelajaran tingkat pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia, sehingga model pembelajaran yang spesifik berorientasi ke arah peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa menjadi penting untuk dikembangkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan model pembelajaran Inquiry Creative Process (ICP) untuk melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa calon guru fisika. Penelitian ini merupakan langkah awal penelitian pengembangan yang menghasilkan produk model pembelajaran dengan kriteria valid pada aspek-aspek validitas isi (content validity) dan validitas konstruk (construct validity). Validasi model pembelajaran ICP dilakukan melalui mekanisme focus group discussion (FGD) dengan melibatkan 5 orang pakar selaku validator. Data hasil validasi model dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan merata-rata skor hasil validasi. Hasil validasi menunjukkan tingkat kevalidan (Va) model pembelajaran ICP sebesar 4,12 berada pada kategori valid. Kerangka konseptual dan hasil validasi model pembelajaran ICP dijabarkan dalam artikel ini.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan kurikulum 2013 di tingkat SMP adalah lebih menekankan pengintegrasikan mata pelajaran biologi, kimia, dan fisika menjadi mata pelajaran IPA terpadu. Pengintegrasian mata pelajaran IPA berdasarkan kurikulum 2013 yang menitikberatkan pada penyederhanaan mata pelajaran dan tematik-integratif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangakan Worksheet tematik-integratif Mata Pelajaran IPA Terpadu untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan adalah Worksheet tematik Integratif. Selanjutnya Worksheet tematik Integratif yang dikembangkan di uji dalam kegiatan pembelajaran di kelas. Proses pengembangan Worksheet tematik Integratif dikembangkan dengan model 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, and Dessiminate). Data pemahaan konsep diperoleh  dari tes Essay yang diberikan kepada siswa. Objek pada penelitian ini yaitu MTs Negeri 1 Mataram  dengan subjek siswa kelas VII Bio A dan kelas VII Bio B jumlah keseluruhan 30 orang siswa. Hasil validasi dari ahli Worksheet dan instrumen penelitian dinyatakan valid dan layak digunakan dalam uji coba. Hasil penelitian pemahaman konsep untuk siswa kelas VII bio A pretest mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 55 dengan katagori tidak tuntas sedangkan nilai rata-rata postest 87.2 dengan katagori tuntas, sedangkan untuk siswa kelas VII bio B pretest mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 44.3 dengan katagori tidak tuntas sedangkan nilai rata-rata postest 89.3 dengan katagori tuntas hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa Worksheet tematik Integratif epektif  dan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning achievement of Physics science through the application of Empowering thinking Using Questions (PBMP) In Active Learning 'Team Quis Type for Students in Secondary School. The type of research is classroom action research conducted in two cycles consisting of: planning, implementation, observation and evaluation phase, and reflection. Activity data for students and teachers is obtained through the observation sheet, while the student learning result data is obtained through the test given at each end of the cycle. The indicator of the success of the research is the students are categorized as active and have increased. Student learning achievement is completed in a classical manner where the students who scored ≥ KKM 75 score has reached ≥ 85% based on the total number of students who follow the evaluation test. Students' physics learning achievement in the first cycle obtained the average grade of 73.8, classical completeness 75.0%, and the average value of student learning activities of 12.3 who are in the category quite active. In the second cycle obtained an average score of 80.2 with 85.0% classical completeness, and the average value of student learning activities of 17.0 are in the active category. We conclude that PBMP has been able to improve students' physics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to know the influence of interactive learning based on concept toward activity and physic concept understanding at student of SMPN 19 Mataram in academic year 2016/2017. The type of this research is experimental queasy research. The population in this research are all seventh grade student as the experimental class who are taken with purposive sampling technique. The data in this research is taken with giving pre-test and post-test to student in sample class. Data collection technique is using observation sheet and test. The result of research shows that student learning activity in experimental class is gotten the average score 80% with active category in learning process, student learning activity in control class in gotten 75% average score with active enough category in learning process. The average score of concept understanding in experimental class is 88 and control class is 75. The result hypothesis test with t-test on 5% significant level shows that t-count > t-table = (5,28 > 1,67), this means that Ha is accepted, so this can be concluded that interactive learning process based on the concept has influence toward activity and student concept understanding.

Abstract

This study was aimed to know 1) the effect of Predict, Observe, Explain, Write (POEW) learning model toward physics conceptual understanding,  2) the effect of gender toward physics conceptual understanding, and 3) the effect of POEW learning model and gender toward physics conceptual understanding. The kind of This study was experimental research with postest only control grup design. Sample of this study were  both science class 11st IPA1 and 11st IPA2 which choosen by randomizing from 3 grup of science class 11st of SMAN 1 Empang. The design of this study using factorial 2x2. The instrument of this study was essay test which have been valid and reliable to ghater information about how the physics conceptual understanding of student. Then the data of physics conceptual understanding was analysed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) using SPSS. Thus from the reshult of data we got some information were 1) the effect of POEW learning model toward physics conceptual understanding have 0,000 significance value which lower than α was 0,05. 2) the effect of gender toward physics conceptual understanding have 0,000 significance value which lower than α was 0,05. 3) the effect of interaction both POEW learning model and gender toward physics conceptual understanding have 0,002 significance value which lower than α was 0,05. It was means that POEW was affecting physics conceptual understanding based on gender at at 11st science students of SMAN 1 Empang.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of inquiry learning model on student physics achievement in junior high school. The method used is experimental research. The sample used are; grade VII-D students as many as 27 people as control class, and level VII-G as many as 27 people as experimental class. The sample selection was done by purposive sampling technique. The data were collected by pre-test and post-test in both classes. The average pre-test in the experimental class is 28.04 and 30.11 for the control class. The average post-test score in the experimental class is 74.41 and 69.26 for the control class. The analysis result using t-test obtained t-test of 1.82 and t-table is 1.67. The value of t-test is greater than t-table at 5% and dk is 52. We conclude that there has been a significant influence of inquiry learning model on physics learning achievement.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the improvement of students critical thinking ability in MA Islahul Ummah NW Bunut Baok, academic year 2015/2016 by using PBI based on authentic assessment. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) and it consisted of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data of student’s critical thinking ability was taken by giving student test, it was form of essay test. The results were obtainedseveral findings namely: 1) at first cycle: the mean score of students’ critical thinking abilitywas 54,41 and categorized into low category; 2) at second cycle:the mean score of students’ critical thinking ability was 85,29and categorizedintohigh category. Based on the results of this research can be concluded thatPBI based on authentic assessment can improve students’ critical thinkingability at the X grade students of MA. Islahul Ummah NW Bunut Baok, academic year 2015/2016.

Abstract

This study aims to improve learning outcomes and critical thinking skills of students MAN 1 Mataram Academic Year 2012/2013 through the application of cooperative learning model and strategy learning POE (Predict Observe Explain). The type of research used is classroom action research (PTK). This study was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, execution, observation, and reflection. Data on cognitive learning outcomes was obtained from PG tests and critical thinking through LKS. The subjects of the study are students of class X-1 that is 35 people. The results showed that, there is an increase in learning outcomes and students' critical thinking skills after the application of learning models. In the first cycle of classical completeness of cognitive learning results of 48.39%, the second cycle increased to 87.88%. The students' critical thinking ability in the first cycle was 67.28, and the Ikedua cycle increased to 74.62 with critical criteria. It can be concluded that cooperative learning model with POE (Predict Observe Explain) learning strategy has improved yield learning and critical thinking skills of students.

Abstract

This research aims to enhance students’ critical thinking skills of SMP Islam Abhariyah on the academic year 2015/2016 through the application of the generative learning model. Research method used was classroom action research (PTK). This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, implementating, observating, and reflecting. Data learning activities of the students and teachers’ activities obtained by observation, while data on students’ critical thinking skills test was obtained by an evaluation at the end of each cycle. The subject of this study was 28 students in VIII-B class. Application of the generative learning model in this study considered as successful if the value of critical thinking skills of the students at a minimum categorized as critical. The data for student’s critical thinking skills was accomplished by using an essay test, and the average value of students is 41.96 (categorized very less critical) whit classical completeness achieved only 3,57% in the cycle I and in the cycle II showed the average value of the students is 68,92 (categorized critical) whit classical completeness increased to 85,71%. Research data of student’s activities was taken by using the student’s observation sheet. The average score in the cycle I is 46.50 (categorized as fairly active) and in the cycle II is 66.00 (categorized as active). The data of teacher’s activities was taken by using teacher’s observation sheet. The presentation of learning material is 64,28% (categorized as good) in the cycle I and 91,06% (categorized as very good) in the gathering II. Thus, the conclusion to this study is the application of the generative learning model can improve students’ critical thinking skills.
