Abstract

This study aims to describe the students' attention processes in solving functional problems. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, with subjects of 2 students taken from 8 students of secondary school. The results show that the students' attention process in solving functional problems was based on attentional characteristics, namely when students who answered correctly in solving questions and interview process, before and after reflection had complete cognitive attention structures. While students who answer incorrectly in solving problems have incomplete attention to cognitive structures, characterized by a lack of concentration in seeing the relationship between one mathematical object and another mathematical object. Attention characteristics in this study begin with recalling previous information and responding or giving feedback to problems by linking previous information with existing problems. Next analyze by breaking down information into smaller parts and easy to understand. The next step looks at the relationship between the decomposition process to get ways that can be used in the settlement process to obtain the final results that are part of decision making.

Abstract

factorization of algebraic expressions based on APOS. A qualitative-exploratory design was employed in this study, where the participants were asked to solve mathematical problems and perform think-aloud protocols. Interview was conducted to extract more interesting data and clarify the participants’ answers and logical analysis. The research subject was a student of class VIII of SMPN 23 Ambon which two students with the initials S1 and S2. The results showed that the thought process of students in solving the problem of factorization of algebraic tribes based on the APOS framework can be classified into 2 categories. The first category is complete thinking structure that was indicated by providing the correct answer to the problem. This process began with interiorization as Action, followed by coordination, encapsulation, reversal, regulation or de-encapsulation as Process towards the object. The second category or scheme is incomplete thinking structure, marked by making errors during the problem-solving process and fixing the errors after reflection. The incomplete thinking structure occurred on interiorization as Action and coordination, reversal and de-encapsulation as Process towards the object. The study found only two categories (complete and incomplete thinking structures), so it is possible for future research to find other categories.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is for the development of authentic assessments of differentiated learning settings in distance learning to realize legitimate, reliable, objectiv and practical learning freedom. The Development Model of the assessment tool used in this study refers to the 4-D model consisting of defining, designing, developing, and deploying as discovered by Thiagarajan. The subjects in this study included 40 students of class VII of PGRI Mawah Junior High School. The trial was conducted using a pre-experimental design type one-shot case study. Data analysis techniques use qualitative descriptive. Instrument validation by experts and education practitioners using check list sheets with a likert scale of 1 (very lacking) – 4 (excellent). The test before the trial uses the validity formula of Gregory's contents, while the validity test after the trial (empirical validity) uses SPSS software with bivariate pearson analysis. Test the reliability, objectivity and practicality of the instrument using SPSS. Authentic assessment of differentiated learning settings in distance learning to realize independent learning both use guidelines and authentic assessment tools and instruments meet valid, reliable, objective and practical criteria for use because they have gone through revisions and trials.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine (1) the difference in the effect between face-to-face learning is limited to science learning accompanied by practicum and without practicum on student learning outcomes; (2) the difference in the effect between high, medium, low learning outcomes on student learning outcomes; and (3) the interaction between learning independence and science learning using practicum on student learning outcomes in limited face-to-face learning. This research was carried out in class VII of SMP Negeri 13 Maluku Tengah for the 2021 academic year, with a population of 132 students. Sampling is carried out by random sampling. Homogeneity test using Levene's Test. Hypothesis testing using Independent Samples T Test, K Independent Samples T Test, Linear Regression with the help of the Statistical Package for Social Sciense (SPSS) program version 23.0. based on the results of the analysis, the conclusion was reached that, (1) there are differences in the effect of limited face-to-face learning on science learning accompanied by practicum and without practicum on student learning outcomes; (2) there are differences in science learning outcomes between students who have high, medium, and low independence; and (3) there is an interaction of learning independence with science learning using practicum on student learning outcomes in limited face-to-face learning.

Abstract

Pulau Ay is an island located west of the Banda Islands, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province. Nearly 85% of the soil structure on Ay Island is filled with coral reefs, so it is very difficult to get clean water and the people of Ay Island only rely on rainwater to get clean water. The purpose of this research is to innovate to purify seawater into drinking water in the village of Pulau Ay and test the quality of the water produced. This research was conducted by designing a seawater purification device called Tampayang (Ay Island's drinking water station) consisting of a water storage barrel, a simple filter, a seawater distillation apparatus and a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane machine. The water produced from the purification of seawater is then analyzed in a laboratory according to Indonesian national standard and the regulation of the Minister of Health of 2010 concerning drinking water quality requirements. The results showed that the Tampayang tool produces 2 types of water, namely clean water and drinking water. After being tested both types of water meet the water quality requirements for consumption based on physical, chemical and biological parameters. The clean water and drinking water produced can be useful and consumed by the people of Ay Island as a solution to seawater utilization

Abstract

Learning from home (BDR) conditions make students more exposed to gadgets. This phenomenon is a challenge for teachers to further upgrade their competence in the use of technology. Today's learning requires teachers to develop and apply technology in conducting learning to motivate students. The solution that can be offered from partner problems is to increase the ability to use technology for teachers in junior and senior high schools in Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency. One of the technologies that can be used in science learning in junior high and high school is a virtual laboratory. The method of activity is in the form of training and assistance in making a virtual laboratory which includes several stages, namely: the preparation stage, the team coaching stage, the training and mentoring stage, the closing stage. Based on the results of the satisfaction questionnaires that were distributed to participants during the evaluation, it was found that the average participants of the training and mentoring activities were able to operate macromedia flash software and create simple Virtual Laboratory applications so that Partner Schools still expect further activities to design IT-based learning media that innovative and can be used in online and offline learning.

Abstract

Mathematics teachers still have to create their creativity in online and offline learning. Therefore, mathematics teachers must pay attention to the assignments given to their students. One of the higher-order thinking skills that teachers must consider is algebraic thinking. This study aims to describe students' algebraic thinking as impact of online and offline learning. Researchers want to see the difference in algebraic thinking between students who are given online mathematics learning and students who are given offline mathematics learning. This study uses a qualitative research approach. Participants in this study consisted of 30 students taken from 2 junior high schools taken in the city of Ambon. The research procedure carried out in this research process is the stage of giving questions and thinking hard, as well as the interview stage. The interview guide was made based on indicators of algebraic thinking (Herbert & Brown, 1997). The results showed that the algebraic thinking skills of students who were subjects of online learning were said to be incomplete because they experienced construction holes at the stage of looking for patterns and generalizations. In contrast, students who were subjects of offline learning had complete algebraic thinking according to the algebraic thinking process.
