Abstract

A good quality of cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is crucial to success in restoring breath and heart function that has rested. High workload among nurses can cause fatigue and reduce the quality of CPR. The cardiovascular workload the rescuer when performing CPR should be measured, so it can be used to provide recommendation on workload reduction. One measurement of cardiovascular workload is Extra Calorie due to Peripheral Temperature (ECPT) and Extra Calorie due to Peripheral Metabolism (ECPM). However, there were no previous studies has discussed about the ECPT and ECPM among rescuer. This study aims to measure the ECPT and ECPM of rescuer during performing CPR. This was a pre-experimental study with one-shot case study. Sample consisted of 20 students of Nursing Study Program and Professional Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University that were selected using purposive sampling technique. After performing CPR for 10 minutes, the students’ recovery rate on the first and fifth minutes were recorded. A univariate analysis was performed, and result showed that the median of ECPT was 22.97 and the median of ECPM was 31.53. The result means that cardiovascular workload during performing CPR at 24oC is more likely influenced by metabolic processes.

Abstract

One of important activity on broiler management is providing feed. Plastic bailer use to be use as supporting equipment. Base on working posture, working duration, repeating frequency and load haul it does not follow the ergonomic principles. Therefore, it can influence working load and productivity of farm worker. This research aim to prove that ergonomic intervention such feeding bag modification base on ergonomic can improve work load and increase work productivity of broiler farm worker. This research is designed using pretest-posttest control group design. Twenty samples were selected with simple random sampling method and then allocated in to control group that use plastic bailer and intervention group that use feeding bag modification base on ergonomics to administer feed. The research was done in Suwegita Putra Chick Farm house located in desa Pajahan, Kec Pupuan, Kab Tabanan on Juni until Juli 2016. Evaluated variables were work load and work productivity of samples of broiler farm workers Research findings found that were decreasing heart rate about 13.7%, decreas cardiovascular load about 51%, increasing work productivity about 58.6%, and save the administration time about 51.9%. Therefore feeding bag modification base on ergonomic was significant (p<0.005) improving work load and work productivity. It could be concluded that feeding bag modification base on ergonomic improve work load and increase work productivity of broiler farm worker through work posture and work duration improvement, load haul adjustment. Finally, it can be expected that the research benefits can be implemented daily by broiler farm worker to achieve better general status.

Abstract

Tourism activities in swimming pools are at risk of drowning accidents that require assistance in the form of basic life support (BLS) by water tourism workers. However, not all of water tourism workers know the technique of giving BLS. So, the education that focuses on BLS assistance is very important for water tourism workers to increase readiness for BLS assistance. This study aims to find out the effect of providing basic life support education on drowning aid readiness of workers in the Keramas Park water tourism area. The type of research is a pre-experimental design with a one group pre-test and post-test design involving 23 respondents who were taken by total sampling technique. The intervention provided was in the form of blended BLS education, namely the online method by providing material (power point materials, learning modules, and practical operational standards) through WhatsApp groups, then offline education by conducting lectures and BLS simulations using mannequins. Respondents were given the opportunity to practice BLS. Readiness data was measured using a questionnaire given before and after BHD education. The results of descriptive data analysis showed that the average age of the respondents was 32 years with a length of work 2.91 years with a median pre-test value of 37.00 and a post-test value of 60.00. Bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test with a confidence level of 95% (? = 0.05) obtained a significance value of 0.000. It can be concluded that BLS education can increase the readiness of drowning rescue workers in Keramas Park water tourism. Researchers recommend to conduct regular BLS education for workers at Keramas Park water tourism. Keywords: Basic Life Support Education (BLS), Drowning Accidents, Readiness
