Abstract

Study technology is a student-centered learning technique that helps the learner to study successfully by providing solutions to all barricades come upon in the progression of studying. This study designed a model on study technology with the barriers that hinder students from studying effectively, the psychological reactions as well as the solutions to the barriers. The study is a position paper which directs the author to review some materials. The findings established that the major barriers to successful study are absence of mass, misunderstood words, obscurity and skipping gradient. In addition, the proffered solutions to the barriers include use of learning materials, use of dictionary, applying mnemonics and adopting a systematic learning style. The study concluded that with study technology, 100% performance is achievable. It was however recommended that students at all levels should assist themselves by adopting the study technology principles.

Abstract

The concept of Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) is used to describe any computer-based educational systems that provide immediate and personalized instruction and feedback to learners, usually without the intervention from a human teacher. This study examined the availability, accessibility, and utilization of ITS applications for teaching among selected secondary schools in Ilorin, Kwara state. The research was a descriptive type using the survey method. A random sampling technique was used to select 150 teachers from 5 secondary schools in Ilorin, Kwara state. Intelligent tutoring systems are not available to secondary school teachers in the Ilorin metropolis; the reaction of the respondents towards the use of ITS application software for instruction was Positive. From the findings of this study, it was concluded that Teachers do not have access to ITS application for instruction as a result of the availability of ITS instruction application. The implication is that if teachers have access to the ITS application for Instruction it will further foster education security. The study recommends that Government and School administrators should ensure adequate power supply and Internet facilities for easy access and utilization of ITS applications for Instruction in the classroom, also teachers who are not in ICT compliance should be encouraged to study further to meet up with the current technological trends.

Abstract

This study investigated undergraduate awareness and utilization of simulation for learning at the University of Ilorin. This study adopted descriptive research of the survey. 4 research questions were developed and answered.  The target population for the study was 239 undergraduate students of the University of Ilorin, which were randomly selected. The findings of the study were (i) undergraduates are aware of the utilization of simulation for learning at the University of Ilorin; (ii) simulation is often utilized for learning amongst undergraduates of the University of Ilorin; (iii) gender differences do exist between a male and female student on the utilization of simulation in among undergraduate of the University of Ilorin; and (iv) area of specialization does not influence the utilization of simulation for learning amongst the university of Ilorin undergraduate. The utilization of simulation for learning has enhanced various students learning capabilities, this has also increased interest amongst students in instructional content. This implies that simulation when properly utilized for learning can positively impact the performance of students. Therefore, efforts should be made to ensure availability and proper awareness of the utilization of simulation systems in various fields of study.

Abstract

This project is about the design and construction of a 220 volts inverter at a frequency of 50Hz. The device is constructed with locally sourced components and materials of regulated standards. The basic principle of its operation is a simple conversion of 12V DC from a battery using integrated circuits and semiconductors at a frequency of 50Hz, into a 220V AC across the windings of a transformer. A battery charger is used to charge the battery using an intelligent digital display charger. This project (device) offers a better alternative to Public Power Supply, Generators as well as UPS considering it is cost-effective, noiseless, and easy maintainability. It was concluded that the inverter was constructed with considerable cost, available and reliable components rather than the more exorbitant unavailable ones. It was however recommended that the Government at various levels should encourage engineering practice by financing and training engineering within and outside the country for the benefit of the students and the nation at large.
