Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efektivitas pengembangan big book terhadap kemampuan mempredikksi bacaan cerita siswa kelas III di SD Muhamadiyah 28 Medan. Dari hasil analisis menggunakan uji Shapiro-Wilk, uji Wilcoxon,dan uji hipotesis Mann-Whitiney dengan taraf signifikasi âˆ= 0.05. Temuan dalam penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa pengembangan media big book terhadap kemampuan memprediksi bacaan cerita siswa tersebut dinyatakan layak dan dapat digunakan dilhat dari hasil validasi ahli isi dan ahli media dengan skor 76%, media ini juga dinyatakan praktis dalam penggunaannya dilihat dari 14 kriteria dengan persentase 85,71% dan penggunaan media big book ini juga sangat efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan memprediksi bacaan cerita siswa kelas III di SD Muhamdiyah 28 Medan dengan persentase 92,6% pada sampel dan 87,5% pada guru pada taraf Asym Sig 0,001 < dari taraf signifikasi 0,05. Sebagai hasil akhir dilakukan uji hipotesis Mann-Whitney dengan hasil signifikasi 0,002 sehingga, berdasarkan kriteria pengambilan keputusan H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima

This study aims to discover category of speech function used by a beauty influencer “Hanum Mega’s Promotional Caption in Instagram. This study refers to Halliday’s Approach as the framework to explain category of speech function coded in instagram caption. This study uses qualitative method. The result shows that Hanum Mega as a beauty influencer dominantly used statement to promote the product. In small number, Hanum mega also used command and offer in promotional caption. Statement as the dominant type of speech function coded in Hanum Mega’s promotional caption, it also shows that she uses descriptive features to attract her followers buy the products.

This study investigates the occurrences of maxims in the conversation between lecturers in “ WhatsApp”. This study applied qualitative research by collecting the data from WhatsApp and the other source which supports to research. Based on the data, it can be found that the lecturers use six maxim proposed by Leech. They use tact, generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement and sympathy maxim. From the six maxims, the lecturers tend to use agreement maxim in conversation. They use Whatsapp as the media for communication in sharing information, discussing or solving the problem related to increasing of university. Finally, the writer concluded that the conversation between lecturers in WhatsApp group can be said “polite”.

Several problems of speaking in SMAN 6 Medan attracted researchers to conduct the research as an effort to help the students in language learning. Researchers attempted to see the effectiveness of Pictionary game toward English speaking skill. This Pictionary game is a simple game and applicable for all levels of students. The main function of this game is building of creative thinking, increasing of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, developing student’s bravery in expression of the ideas and creating of responsibility and cooperative towards the students. Because of this advantage, many researchers conducted this game on language learning such as the effect of Pictionary game on vocabulary mastery and researchers decided to see whether Pictionary game is effective for student speaking skill. This study is conducted by using an experimental design. In collecting of the data, researcher took pre-test and post-test from experimental and control class and examined them to see whether Pictionary game is effective or not. After analyzing of the data using of three tests, researchers found that the students’ score in experimental group was higher than control group in post-test. The calculation showed tobserved was 2.07. The degree of the freedom was 70 (df= n1 + n2 – 2) that means (df= 36 + 36 – 2) at the significance level 0.05, thus the critical score was 1.97. It can be concluded ttable was 1.97. then, the calculation of students’ scores shown that tobserved > ttable that means (Ha) was accepted, and (H0) was rejected. It means there is significance effect of the students’ speaking skill after treated by Pictionary game.

Permasalahan inti pada penelitian ini yaitu bagaimana cara seorang pendidik untuk menentukan variasi metode dalam pelajaran sejarah kebudayaan islam di Madrasah Tsanawiyah Muallimin Univa Medan serta bagaimana tanggapan siswa pada variasi metode dalam sebuah pembelajaran. Adapun metode yang dipakai yaitu metode kualitatif, tehnik mengumpulkan data yang dipakai yaitu observasi serta wawancara. Adapun hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian iniantara lain : 1) cara guru untuk menentukan variasi metode pelajaran sejarah kebudayaan islam di MTs Muallimin Univa medan, dengan beberapa pertimbangan dan kondisi tertentu, misalnya guru memperhatikan kesehatan siswa; guru memperhatikan keadaan psikologi siswa; guru memperhatikan materi inti pelajaran SKI yang ingin dijelaskan; 2) Tanggapan siswa pada variasi metode dalam pelajaran sejarah kebudayaan islam di Madrasah Tsanawiyah Muallimin Univa Medan di tunjukkan dalam bentuk bersemangat dalam belajar saat pelajaran SKI dijelaskan dengan memakai variasi metode pembelajaran, merasa tidak jenuh saat belajar SKI berlagsung, merasa kurangnya jam pelajaran SKI yang ada disekolah, dan merasa harus dibuatnya penambahan jam mata pelajaran SKI.
