Abstract

Sand commonly has a good bearing capacity. Problems may occur when sand has low density and thick deposit. Flexible plate foundation may be used in this soil but plate deflection may be still high. To reduce deflection and improving soil density, piles were used to support the plate. Installing piles made foundation system stiffer. The objectives of this study are  to studies about behavior of plates and plate with a pile of sand on the ground, influence of plate thickness , pile length and spacing of the pole deflection, and the influence of the bond between the plate and the deflection of the pile .In this study is used test box of 1.2 m depth, 1.2 m width, 1.2 m length, and 1.0 m depth filled out with sand. Plate models were made from plexiglas of rectangular and square geometry. Piles were of steel pipesof 2.5cm diameter. Some parameters were as follows : plate thickness, plate geometry, pile length (L), pile spacing (s), bounding between plate and pile (fix or free), ’piled’ and freestanding foundation, and base pile enlargement. The behavior of the plateswere observed under loading (point load). The result shows that plate deflections were affected by the method of pile installation, plate thickness and pile length. For a ticker plate, contact surface between plate and soil was wider. For the 40cmx10cm plates with fix end pile, deflectionswere founf to reduced up to 70% compared with free end pile. The ’piled foundation’ on 40cmx10cm plates, L=20cm, s=4d, deflections were reduced 83,63% compared with free standing foundation.

Abstract

Organic waste and calcium carbide waste can be used as replacement material for cement in mortar. Organic waste ash and calcium carbide waste are mixed with some variations and then conducted tests to obtain the characteristics of the materials used in this study. Content of mortar comparation base on weight that are organic waste-calcium carbide waste : sand : water of 1.0 : 2.75 : 1.0. Compositions of waste organic ash and calcium carbide waste have some variations, i.e., 0.9-0.1, 0.7-0.3, 0.5-0.5, 0.3-0.7 and 0.1-0.9. Control mortar also made as discussant for mixture variations of organic waste ash and calcium carbide waste in compressive strength test. Control is mortar mixed with common Portland cement. All of mortars are mold with molder that has dimension 5 cm × 5 cm × 5 cm. Compressive strength test is done when age of mortars is 3 days, 14 days, and 28 days. Based on laboratory test results, compressive strength on 14 days at the highest variation of 70 % organic waste ash and 30 % calcium carbide waste was found to be 26,7 kg/cm2. But, this result of compressive strength is lower compared to compressive strength of control mortar which was found to be 79.9 kg/cm2 on 14 days. Highest compressive strength of all mixture variation showed that mixture of waste organic ash and calcium carbide waste can be used as a mortar/mixture of brick pair in simple house type and very simple house type that needs compressive strength as much as 25 kg/cm2for wall that do not bear of load.

Abstract

Problems in sandy soil may occur when sand has low density, uniform gradation and thick deposit. Flexible plate foundation may used in this condition but plate deflection still high. To reduce deflection and to improve soil density, piles were used to support the plate. Installing piles made foundation system stiffer. The objectives of this study are to studies about behavior of plates and plate with pile on sandy soil. Plate deflection was observed with variation of plate thickness, bottom pile enlargement, and soil-plate-pile interaction (free standing pile and piled foundation). 1,2 x 1,2 x 1,2 m box container filled with sandy soil was used as soil media. Square and rectangular plexiglass plate were used to modelled plate. Steel pipe with 2,5 cm  in diameter were used as pile model. The behavior of the plates were observed under loading (point load). The results shows that plate deflections were affected on plate thickness, bottom pile enlargement and soil-plate-pile interaction. For a ticker plate, contact surface between plate and soil was wider. For the 40 cm x 10 cm plates with base pile enlargement, deflections were found to reduced up to 21,26%. The ‘piled foundation’ on 40 cm x 10 cm plates, (installing with 20 cm pile length, and 10 cm spacing between pile), deflections were reduced 83,63% compared with free standing foundation.

Abstract

Increasing the skills and abilities of individuals, families and communities in the face of disasters need to be carried out continuously, because of the high potential for threats and the increasing number of people exposed to disaster risk. Women have a strategic role in disaster management and are very effective in transferring their knowledge to the next generation. In this community service activity, the Nasyiatul Aisyiyah branch of Ngawen, Klaten, Central Java, chosen as a partner. The purpose of this activity is to improve women's preparedness capacity and to reduce people's exposure to disasters. The activities are not only in terms of physical preparedness but also spiritual preparedness. This community service activity consist of three stage, which are,the first stage is preliminary survey to assess the knowledge of participants on disaster preparedness, the second stage is giving disaster preparedness education with facilitators guidance, providing disaster preparedness pocket books, and discussions, and the final stage was an assessment of disaster preparedness after participants are given education/training. The assessment was done using a questionnaire. The result of the prelimanary survey show that the participant are at the level of moderate preparedness. The disaster preparedness education increasing all the disaster preparedness parameters index. The knowledge parameter index increased by 5%, the family preparedness plan parameter index increased by 15%, the parameter index of disaster warning knowledge increased by 6%, the resource mobilization parameter index increased by 10%. The socialization or simulation is needed about the importance of evacuation, relief and rescue, and campaign about the disaster is also needed through various media that are in accordance with the conditions of the community.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan di dusun Godegan, desa Jamuskauman kecamatan Ngluwar Magelang Jawa Tengah. Desa Jamuskauman termasuk pada kategori Desa Tangguh Bencana Pratama, dimana kegiatan Pengurangan Risiko Bencana (PRB) masih sangat awal dilakukan di desa ini. Kegiatan ini betujuan meningkatkan ketangguhan warga dalam menghadapi bencana, dengan beberapa kegiatan yaitu pendidikan ketangguhan, diskusi potensi bencana dan pembagian buku saku tangguh bencana. Dari hasil kegiatan ini diperoleh informasi bahwa dusun Godegan memiliki potensi ancaman bencana gempabumi, angina putting beliung dan banjir lahar dingin. Kegiatan selanjutnya yang perlu dilakukan berupa pelatihan kesiapsiagaan, penentuan titik kumpul dan pembuatan jalur evakuasi. Kegiatan seperti ini sangat dibutuhkan warga, terbukti dari antusiasme warga dalam mengikuti seluruh rangkaian acara.Community service has been done in Godegan, Jamuskauman village, Ngluwar sub-district of Magelang regency, Central Java. Those event has succeeded in assessing the resilience of these villagers in the face of disasters. The village is included in the category of Desa Tangguh Bencana Pratama, whereis the Disaster Risk Reduction activities will begin (at early stage) in this village. This activity aims to increase the resilience of villagers in the face of disasters, with several activities namely disaster preparedness and resilience education, discussion of potential disasters and the distribution of disaster resilient manual books. The community succeeded in mapping out the potential disasters in the village, namely earthquakes, tornadoes and cold lava floods and improved the knowledge abaut the preparedness and resilience of disaster.  The next activity that needs to be done is in the form of preparedness training, determining the gathering point and making an evacuation route. The enthusiasm of the villagers in participating in this activity needs to be followed up by the local government and the community concerned with disasters by carrying out sustainable activities towards a resilient village

Abstract

Soil compaction is one of the robust methods to improve the strength and compressibility of earthwork since the method is more efficient and practical. However, the compaction work must be evaluated to meet the maximum dry density (MDD) required from the standard laboratory compaction test. The common method used for the evaluation of field density is the sand-cone test. The main objective of this study was to investigate the relative compaction of the borrow-fill at the building construction using the sand-cone test. The test procedure followed the ASTM D1556/D1556M-15e1 and ASTM D698-12e2 for sand-cone test and Proctor standard compaction test. Statistical analysis was performed to evaluate the density and moisture obtained from the field test at Dorm and Research and Innovation Center (RIC) project construction. The probability (p) of the compaction work exceeded the 0,9 MDD or Rc=90% was calculated p=13% and p=18%. The results corresponded to average relative compaction (Rc) of 80% and 82% at the Dorm and RIC project, respectively, with the deviation standard of 8.69 dan 8.81.

Abstract

Kondisi sekolah menengah swasta yang memprihatinkan terjadi dibanyak daerah di Indonesia, salah satu contohnya adalah di SMP Muhammadiyah Ngluwar di Kabupaten Magelang, Propinsi Jawa Tengah. Hal ini terlihat dari jumlah siswa yang terus menurun dari tahun ke tahun. Bahkan ditahun 2022 jumlah siswa baru hanya sebanyak 15 orang. Sebenarnya dari sisi prasarana gedung cukup memadai, namun sarana pembelajaran masih jauh tertinggal. Pembelajaran diberikan oleh guru di depan kelas dengan alat bantu hanya papan tulis. Metode pembelajaran yang tentu kurang menarik lagi dimasa sekarang. Hal tersebut kemungkinan menjadi salahsatu penyebab sekolah ini kurang bisa berkembang. Kondisi pandemi Covid-19 juga menjadi pukulan tersendiri bagi sekolah-sekolah yang tidak siap dari sisi sarana dan sumber daya manusia. Peningkatan mutu pembelajaran menjadi hal yang mutlak dilakukan di sekolah ini untuk bisa pelan-pelan mengangkat citra sekolah agar mampu bersaing dengan sekolah lain. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan sarana pembelajaran berupa hibah LCD proyektor dan speaker portatable. Peningkatan kualitas guru pengajar juga dilakukan agar memberikan pengajaran dengan metode yang lebih menarik. Pelatihan optimalisasi aplikasi MS-PowerPoint telah dilakukan kepada guru pengajar di SMP Muhammadiyah Ngluwar yang berjumlah 11 orang pada tanggal 25 Maret 2022. Abstract

Sekolah siaga bencana tidak hanya terpaku pada unsur kesiapsiagaan, melainkan juga meliputi upaya-upaya mengembangkan pengetahuan secara inovatif untuk mencapai pembudayaan keselamatan, keamanan, dan ketahanan bagi seluruh warga sekolah terhadap bencana. Agar siswa dapat memahami bencana secara baik dan utuh, pendidikan kebencanaan di sekolah harus diintegrasikan ke dalam beberapa mata pelajaran. SD Muhammadiyah Ngluwar merupakan sekolah dasar yang terletak di daerah Cabeyan Bligo Ngluwar Kab. Magelang, dengan jumlah siswa 378 (siswa laki-laki 209 dan siswa perempuan 169) dan jumlah rombongan belajar 17 rombangan belajar. Sebagai lembaga pendidikan, SD Muhammadiyah Ngluwar bertanggung jawab menyelenggarakan pendidikan agar siswa dapat mengembangkan potensinya dan membangun budaya, termasuk budaya siaga bencana. Menurut Peta Risiko Bencana Daerah Kabupaten Magelang, Cabeyan Bligo Ngluwar sangat rentan terhadap risiko angin ribut, banjir lahar dingin Merapi, dan gempa bumi. Pengetahuan para tenaga pendidik terhadap penanggulangan bencana tentang sikap/tindakan, kebijakan sekolah, perencanaan kesiapsiagaan, dan mobilisasi sumber daya masih perlu ditingkatkan. Masalah mitra ini dapat diatasi melalui pendampingan dan pelatihan di sekolah siaga bencana atau satuan pendidikan bencana. Tim pelaksana dan pakar terkait memberikan dukungan dan pelatihan. Pada pengabdian masyarakat tahap awal ini akan dilakukan pelatihan kesiapsiagaan terhadap siswa kelas V, dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan awal dari warga sekolah terhadap kesiapsiagaan terhadap bencana dengan melakukan survei. Hasil survei menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan siswa dan guru terhadap potensi bencana pada tingkat tinggi, panduan dan kebijakan sekolah pada tingkat rendanh, dan rencana tanggap darurat dan pengerahan sumberdaya pada tingkat sedang. Program berkelanjutan untuk mempersiapan sekolah Siaga bencana perlu dilanjutkan ditahun tahun ke depan. Pada tahun mendatang akan dipersiapkan ketersediaan dokumen kebijakan sekolah dan atribut kesiapan sekolah, termasuk informasi bencana dan mitigasinya, jalur evakuasi, dan titik kumpul

Abstract

Program Peduli Anak Yatim (PPAY) Amanah Warahmah Lil Umat didirikan oleh Pengurus Ranting Muhammadiyah (PRM) Wirokerten, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Saat ini PPAY mendapatkan amanah 88 orang santri. Kegiatan-kegiatan PPAY selama ini masih menumpang di beberapa masjid di wilayah Wirokerten. Berkat kepedulian dari masyarakat, PPAY mendapatkan tanah wakaf seluas 175m2. Pengurus berniat untuk membangun sebuah pondok di lahan wakaf tersebut. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan untuk membantu dalam perencanaan gedung tersebut. Langkah-langkah perencanaan dilakukan melalui tahapan pertemuan dengan pengurus, survei lokasi, perencanaan, penyerahan hasil dan evaluasi/monitoring pelaksanaan. Survei lokasi dilakukan untuk melihat situasi dan mengukur lahan. Konsultasi dengan pengurus PRM untuk mendapatkan gambaran rencana pembangunan. Perencanaan meliputi seluruh gambar rencana & gambar detail serta Rencana Anggaran Biaya (RAB). Penyerahan hasil diserahkan dalam bentuk file/softcopy dan dokumen cetak. Bangunan gedung dibuat 2 lantai, mengingat lahan yang kecil dan kebutuhan ruang yang banyak. Ada 27 jenis gambar yang dibuat meliputi Peta Situasi, Gambar Tampak (Termasuk Fasad 3D), Gambar Denah, Gambar Potongan, Gambar Atap, Gambar Struktur,Gambar Fondasi, Gambar Penulangan, Gambar Mekanikal & Elektrikal, Gambar Sanitasi dan Drainasi dan Gambar-gambar Detail. Pendampingan saat konstruksi juga dilakukan agar pelaksanaan sesuai dengan gambar rencana.
